If one of my friends were that stupid, I’d still be too pissed at them a week later to feel sadness. Take your emotional intelligence somewhere else, Sally Sensitive.

What makes me sick about the whole Ruggs thing is it would've been downplayed by the media if the innocent young woman didn't die in such horrific manner and have people (witnesses) there who tried to save her. The first few days after the event the media claimed Ruggs tried to save her, but friends have told me there's video of the aftermath and Ruggs wasn't helping. If it wasn't such a graphic crash and death Ruggs would probably have gotten a slap on the wrist.

I understand the logic of using all our picks to build the team in 2022 an sticking with Hurts. It's the "safe" approach. If we hit on our picks, then we're in very good shape moving forward. It also makes the cap situation sooo much easier to navigate.

Even if we do that, any notion that Hurts is a "special" talent is absurd. He'll come back because we don't like the costs of acquiring a veteran QB and we don't like the QB prospects.

I would be a little concerned with Howie making the picks , his track record is bad , at this point your stuck with him  , him and his staff are already scouting  , no way Lurie fires him  .

Yep. The 700 yards over three seasons in Philly is the kinda stuff legends are made of.

Let’s be fair, he also threw it away on 4th down. Stuff like that can’t just be replaced.

That's the primary issue with the penalties on the books for drunk driving and speeding excessively.  Both aren't just 'bad decisions', they are literally 'attempted manslaughter' at worst.  Driving impaired (especially to that degree) and driving that fast is just taking your life and the lives of everyone around you in peril, and there's no reason for it.  It is all ego driven.  And that is where the deterrent should be placed.  The penalties for drunk driving should be steeper, much steeper, even if there is not a crash of any kind, but just a traffic stop.  That person has put everyone around them at risk.  The same goes for speeding like that.  He was nearly 4x faster than the speed limit in that area.  That should come with mandatory jail time, not just a suspended license.  Because a person who is driving like that, doesn't care about the laws anyway, and so suspending the license won't stop that person from driving.

When you layer on that the worst scenario actually takes place, then the penalties should go even higher.   Maybe then the people who engage in these behaviors would start to look at these things more seriously.     OR, increase the difficulty of getting licensed, right now it is very very easy to get a driver's license.  Maybe it should be a little harder, and maybe include a defensive driving course as part of the process... and actually study the aftermaths of such reckless (seems too weak a word to use in this situation) driving behaviors.

The media has talked more about Rodgers than Ruggs.

So yesterday was basically the offense I had envisioned going into the season. Hurts, although flawed as a thrower, extending drives with his legs. Solid Oline play. Smith and Goedert as key weapons.

This formula could win several games before the season is over.

The heavy reliance on a power running game by the Eagles in recent weeks suggests to me that they finally see Hurts as a caretaker type of QB. In that role, he did OK, not great, yesterday - no turnovers.

However, for such a team to realize ultimate success, they need an elite defense.

-Marcus Epps needs more reps.

-Why does Watkins have 10 more snaps than Smith?

-Why did Boston Scott play the most snaps of any RB?

-They only lined up with more than 3 WR 3 times while the Chargers were without their top CB.  I know they are running the ball but the NFL has never been more pass happy and the Eagles can't pass the ball.

-O-line played the entire game together.   Good to see.

Looking at the snap count for TJ Edwards and Davion Taylor makes me wonder if the coaches think they are the best 2 LB combination on the roster; both players styles compliment them.  Taylor has the range, but not the experience.  Edwards has the mind but not the legs.

The DL issue now is the lack of depth on it.  Kerrigan's lack of production and impact has left to to be 1 DE producing, Barnett being Barnett and that's it.  The DT depth is lacking too.  The Ds performance this year shows what happens when you simply cannot draft an impact player on it.  It's very run of the mill and the results show that.

COVID get views and clicks, and gains ad revenue for those who pontificate about it; plus of course it's something that all sides of the political divide enjoy getting at.  An idiotic NFL player killing someone while drunk driving doesn't.

Having watched the Rodgers appearance on the McAfee show last Friday. He's a lot more thoughtful than I thought and I can see why he gets the rep he does about being awkward - he was the kid who spent the entire saying "why" all of the time.  I pity whoever coaches him.

Yikes.  Blitzed on 30% of the dropbacks and Herbert was only hit once and had no other pressure.  That's bad.

I appreciate the changes Nick has made to the offense in recent weeks.  I appreciate his intensity on the sidelines.  He's a likable guy.  Just not HC material IMO.  Obviously Gannon and Hurts are bigger issues.  Boston Scott wasn't a Jag again yesterday.  Big Play Slay was terrible.  As was the D-Line.  Really liking what I am seeing from TJ Edwards.  Not a stud.  But serviceable.  Which is a major upgrade.  Even I didn't think Jalen Reachor would be this bad.  When we drafted him, I said he was a more talented Josh Huff.  I should apologize to Josh Huff for that.    I said it during the game....but holy hell is Tyree Jackson tall.  Gannon is horrendous at his job.  Worse at his job that any key sports figure in philly the last 5 years.  Except Lowie on draft day....hi Afan

I’m sure Nick is glad that you appreciate what he’s doing on offense .

Technically they only got 6.  Elliott gave them 7.

The Eagles most likely beat the Chargers, Raiders, and MAYBE the Chiefs (it would have been way closer) with a competent DC. That’s 5-4 or 6-3. Hurts isn’t our long term QB but can win games. Siri is progressing. Gannon shouldn’t be let in the building tomorrow.

Come on.  You really think this team has that talent level.   The DL isn’t deep and the best players are dinged up, our best LBs are Edwards, Taylor and Singleton.   Sure we have Slay but Nelson is a liability and we had Chachere playing nickel a good part of the game and McPhearson in for Slay, although interestingly Herbert continued to target the zone holes around the LBs and Nelson.

Gannon is struggling in that his zone is way to soft.  He is playing way too much of it.  I think that goes to lacking speed at S.  Really the only speed in the secondary is Slay.  Nelson, Maddox, McPhearson, Epps and Wallace are all 4.53+ guys. I agree with AFan that I doubt Harris and McLeod can break 4.6:at this point in their careers and Howie’s incompetence and ignoring of the S position has come home to roost. Whatever template he has for drafting a S is out the window.   I find it interesting that all these young DBs he has traded for have a common trait.  Speed.  I am convinced that Gannon needs speed for his secondary to work, especially at S.

Now, one thing that is not working is the trying to strip the ball rather than stop the receiver and tackle first.  Needs to fix that.

I am not ready to throw out Gannon.   I think we are looking at a McDermott situation where the talent on the D was for a different DC and we need to give Gannon this next draft to see what he can build.

It was one of 3 good throws he made yesterday. He had just as many really really bad throws if not more. And the all 22 will show if/how many bad reads he had.

It's much harder to blitz playing 2 high and off-coverage.

But he also played for Colorado State.  I like then.  But it was pointed out to me earlier Mike Williams would be a better option if he makes it to FA.  Either way, need a good WR across from Smith and he isn't currently on the roster.

Agree with that but I hate the idea of bringing in ex Cowboys, Giants or Redskins.  At least when it comes to big deal free agents where they're giving them a lot of money.  If they want to bring in someone for a 1 year deal at little money than I'm fine with that.

The bad news -- the defense is allowing an historical 75.5% completion percentage over the first 9 games

The good news (?) -- the defense might face Daniel Jones (2X), Heinicke (2X), Bridgewater, Siemian, Zach Wilson and Dak (or Rush if it's meaningless) for the last 8 games.

Can they get the season number to under 70%?

I don't care where they played just want good players

This thought has crossed my mind too. Think it's evident with the 700 developmental CBs that they're not going to knee jerk fire him. Just wish he would freaking adjust to what he has this season.

Safeties and LBs galore next offseason, in my opinion. Among LBs, I expect a 3-4 edge type who can rush and cover. The persistence with Avery suggests Gannon highly values that role.

Reagor and all Eagle receivers should work with Smith all off season.   He gets so open so often.  He got 3 yards of separation on the red zone play from the 5 yard line!  (And Hurts couldn't even give him a chance to make a diving catch.  You could see Smith was upset after that pathetic throw)

Upset is the wrong word.  He went over and sat on the bench next to,Hurts and talked about how he would have liked the ball placed.  You can see it is a teammate discussion.  I think that kind of fits both players.
