Looking ahead at the Eagles FA. OTC currently has the Eagles with about $3.7 in cap space.  They currently have almost $21 million in current cap space which unless I'm wrong, they can roll all of that over correct?

Does that put them at almost $25 million for 2022 FA?

Upcoming FA-

Dallas Goedert- I just don't know.  I've made my case for a while that paying a TE top dollar is a luxury the Eagles can't afford.  He's played well since Ertz was traded.  Can they tag and trade him?  Franchising him eats up a lot of their cap space.

Hassan Ridgeway- Going on 28.  He's a solid DT4 but drafting a young DT is a must.  We don't need Cox at 31, Hargrave at 28 and Ridgeway at 28.  We need youth.

Boston Scott- Time to move on, bring in a young dynamic back.

Alex Singleton- Go back to CFL

Greg Ward- Hard worker, not worth a new contract, need to upgrade.

Avonte Maddox- He's played well this year.  Do any of the young CB look good enough to make him expendable?  As of now, no.  Bring him back.

Jason Croom- forgot he was on the team.  See ya

Genard Avery- Thanks for wasting the 4th Howie.  No need to bring him back.

Andre Chachere- One of the Eagles core ST players.  Need guys like him on the roster.  Was also first off the bench to replace Maddox yesterday.

TJ Edwards- Probably a step above a JAG but if he continues to play well the rest of the year, I wouldn't mind him back.  Provided they don't think he's the answer and look to upgrade.

Nate Herbig- Lots of hate for Herbig but he's an important reserve OL.  Starter in a pinch.

FA to target-

DE- Harold Landry.

S- Jessie Bates.

S- Xavier Woods

S- Terrell Edmunds

WR- Christian Kirk

WR- James Washington

WR- DJ Chark

WR-Equanimeous St. Brown

G- Will Hernandez.  (I know, division player but pairing him with Dickerson...ooh boy)

Also I don’t see Brandon Brooks being on the team. A post june 1st cut saves another 13 million next year. I assume they will do what they did with Jackson and Alshon to have that money for FA.

I mean he did tie the game against the Chargers before Gannon's defense closed out the game letting the Chargers take 6 minutes off the clock.  I don't think this team wins that game with Gannon calling the defense.  The same could be said for the Raiders, Chiefs, Cowboys and Bucs games.  In any event, they couldn't be .500 because they played 9 games.

We've seen a stark contrast in Hurts' abilities as a passer against most of the QBs the Eagles have faced in the first half of the schedule.

It's quite possible Hurts plays better than most of the QBs the Eagles will face in the second half of their schedule.

What would the cap hit be to franchise him?

Heck if I Know I'm no where near a capologist.

I think what he has said is that Hurts needs time to develop as a starter.  He thinks he has shown enough to warrant him being given 2 seasons.  I think the essence of what he is saying is that the Eagles are better off trying to develop Hurt than investing 3 first round picks in a QB this offseason.

Just my view of him. He comes off very pro Hurts.

If the Eagles don't draft or sign a QB in the offseason I would hope next season is an open competition between Hurts and Minshew.

How old are you, that is, have you ever experienced a rebuild before?

The last tie the Eagles had a real rebuild was the end of the Rhodes era and the first year with AR.

They had a few studs they had picked up via trade and FA (Douglas, Vincent, Taylor), a few draft picks, but basically built that team off drafts and signing Runyan.

And some of those drafts were "bad," and some players took a few years to develop:

1995:  Mamula #7, Taylor (50), Brooks (58), Jefferson (72), C Jones (78 - blew out his knee)

1996:  Mayberry (25), Dunn (54), Dawkins (61),

1997:  Harris (25), Darling (57), Staley (71), Kalu (152), Jasper (198)

1998:  Tra (11), Trotter (72), Rossum (85), Whiting (112) but traded out of the pick they could have taken Hines Ward, Reese (142)

1999:  McNabb (2), Gardner (35), Brzezinski (64), Welbourn (112), Moore (128), Martin (172), Weaver (208)

2000:  Simon (6), Pinkston (36), Williams (61)

13 starters in 6 years, the core of AR's teams that went to the NFC Championship game 4 straight years.

And yet coming off 6-9-1 and 3-13 seasons where they fired their coach, gave Hoying a chance to be the starter going forward (failed) and going in with a first time HC the eagles went on to take a QB at 2 even though they were considered to be in a rebuild. Interesting... before you go they were further along. well that speaks to howie has done a a poor job drafting cause they could be much closer if we didn’t have 2017, 2019 and 2020 drafts producing suboptimal returns.

Mike Williams is going to get a nice contract, assuming he finishes the year healthy.

I'd take Williams, he could be a nice pairing with Smith

I like Mike Williams but he doesn’t come without injury risk. He had his issues coming out of Clemson. Add on he came out of the gate blazing for the chargers. Last 3 weeks he’s averaged 2 catches for 34 yards. I think some of that he was/is dealing with an injury. I tend to think someone overpays for him.

Said the same thing last night but he's probably going to be around $16M - $17M APY.

He hasn't killed, or threatened to kill anyone ....... yet ...

Darn. That would have been fun.

I’m guessing howie and lurie would think the pillars are mailata, hargrave, goedert (guessing he’s tagged at worse), sweat, Dickerson, seumalo, smith, slay (which by the time we get through this rebuild is likely very much declined). I’m guessing if they extend maddox they’ll use him too. Potentially believe in Milton Williams and Taylor being included (not my thinking just how they’d view it)

I am not saying that it’s right or even smart of them to think that (cause i disagree with them) but I’m guessing that’s how they would justify doing that is saying look we have these players we believe is our nucleus/pillars going forward

Hargrave is only signed through next year.

Ugh, we can't afford that for a WR

What was OBJ's oblivious comment about "only wanting to go to a winning culture" -- without realizing he contributes to a losing culture??

My sides were aching after I read that one.

Have a feeling he’s extended before then.

Keep the condescension coming.

How many rebuilds start with the same GM that broke the previous build?

And don't just give me Eagles' history - look around the league.

BTW... if those drafts were 'bad'... what are the Howie drafts?    Last Pro Bowler was 2016.  Before that was 2012 and 2013.

Here we see Pro Bowlers in 2000, 1999, 1998, and 1996 and 1995.   That's pretty impressive when stacked against Howie's dreck.

Didn't have that on my reasons raiders cut a player bingo card

I don't know that he'll get quite that much, but yeah, we likely can't afford him either way.

That's being blown way out of proportion.  The defender twisted himself trying to get away.  I don't see Mac trying to do any harm at all.  Holding, sure.

According to belicheat the ball wasn't deflated, the spy cameras were focused on cheerleaders and Mac thought Burns had the ball...😒

He definitely twists his ankle down around the 7sec mark. If he didn't his body wouldn't need to roll like it did.

Not only that in three drafts they had 3 eagles hall of famers in tra Thomas, trotted and dawkins. Heck Bobby Taylor was good for the eagles for nearly a decade.

from 2016-2020 howie and the eagles best draft was 2018. Yet 2018 would likely be the the 3rd best draft out of the 1995-1998. And I’d argue that still got Rhodes and before him Harry gamble fired.
