Hurts had his best game as a pro yesterday. I am still cautious, but he has 7 more games to improve and build on consistency. His ball placement was much better yesterday, and he stayed calm in the pocket and stepped up into it.  Still more work to be done, but yesterday was a step in right direction.

He had his best half I'd argue. His second half was really not good at all.

I know I saw some people earlier saying they didn't like the combo.  I thought it looked good.

I thought more calls would go our way since we were dressed like the refs. I was disappointed.

You're an idiot.

The original poster was talking about how bad hurts was in the 3rd quarter.

Then another idiot said that was garbage time

outside the punt block the 3rd quarter was extremely tight outside of the slay touchdown with no time left on the clock

I'm pretty sure he was being facetious, but sure, have it your way.

Interesting point on Smith

He had one bad play in the second half, which was the incompletion that Smith had to break up. The INT was in a max protect scheme in which we somehow allowed a free rusher with 8 guys blocking 5 defenders. Is that a bad play by the QB to you? After the interception, we had a 60 yard drive that essentially ended the game. So I am really confused about the "he had a bad second half" argument. Are you saying it was bad because he had one bad throw? Did you want him to keep throwing when the only way the other team could possibly win the game was for us to throw the ball and risk stopping the clock? Did you want us to risk losing the game just so the qb could have a decent half? What outcome were you looking for?

He threw like 3 - 5 times in the second half, they really didn't need to throw.

I still have plenty of reservations, eventually he has to be able to throw when the running game isn't working and when we are playing from behind. Thats where you seperate the real QB's from the imposters.

Yeah generally INTs are a bad play, are they not to you?

We had a 3 and out, an INT, a 10 play, 60 yard drive that resulted in a FG (and had not one single Hurts pass), another 3 and out, and then the final kneel out.

That represents a good half to you? C'mon man.

Seems like we're gonna have an RB "problem"...a good one though.

If Sanders is activated this week, how does the roster shuffle? Do you keep Gainwell/Howard/Scott/Sanders all dressed on gameday? Plus Hurts, that's essentially 5 RBs.

Drop a corner and go with 4 RBs.

Well umm, the 4th quarter it was pretty obvious the plan was to well, not throw.

Any update on the Landon Dickerson and Dallas Goedert injuries ?

On the Goedert injury, here’s an update…there should have been a flag and that dude is gonna get fined big.

Completely understood, and I understand running out the clock, no argument there. But Hurts did not have a good second half. Regardless of what he was asked to do, 1/3 for 2 yards, with one INT and another very near INT is terrible.

His first half was like the ying to his second half's yang. Or maybe the other way around, I'm no philosopher.

Goedert is in protocol, we prob won't know till later in the week how he's doing. Haven't heard anything on Dickerson.

Yup looked like a high hit

If that's on a QB they ban the defender fir life but on a TE meh who cares...

Watching the game again, was good to see Dickerson co.e back in after leaving in the fourth.   And he pulled to the right a couple of times in front of Scott for nice gains,  the last run of the game he pulled and blew up the corner or LB and Scott ran for 20 + ending the game.  Dickerson moves really well, fast.  Once he is as good at pass blocking as he is at run blocking he has a chance to be an All Pro.  Really impressive.

.....I know, has to stay on the field...

It's funny how the Hurts Haters constantly scream that box scores aren't a true reflection of how a qb played, but when they want to crap all over him, they blindly use box scores.

Regarding the stupid taunting rule, why don't coaches tell their players to get up close and stand in front of the player that made the play? That way they can try to draw penalties when they get up and celebrate in the direction of an Eagle player.

Why do you feel the need to go to extremes right away? I pointed out in many posts how great his first half was. He was really great. He was equally bad in the 2nd half. It's OK to discuss that. His fweelings aren't gonna be hurt(s).

Fans:  run the damn ball.

Siri runs the damn ball.

Fans: you're just protecting your bad QB.

People really devalue Hurts' running skills, he's not "OK," he's elite, only Lamar is better at running the ball as a QB. And Siri is still figuring out how to use that skill, coaching Luck and Rivers doesn't prepare you for Hurts, and coaching Brissett doesn't prepare you for anything.

As far as getting hurt running, how many big hits has Hurts taken this year as a runner? How many sitting in the pocket? He's has good open field instincts. And I'll bet on his longevity as a RB over Lamar, Hurts is built like a power RB and lifts like one.

As far as staying in the pocket, Hurts is improving, but the OL also has to improve as pass blockers. It's a work in progress.

I was thinking about RB after the game last night and while Scott/Howard are playing well behind the line now, how much better could the running game be with a true bell cow?  If Jalen Hurts is the quarterback here and he needs a strong running game to play at his best, maybe the Eagles should look in to bringing in someone who can be THE GUY.  I'm talking a Derrick Henry, Najee Harris, Jonathan Taylor kind of RB.

It's GREAT to see the focus on the running game but seeing how effective it can be with average running backs, I can't help but imagine what a stud RB could do behind this line.

Miles Sanders is a nice RB but he leaves too much meat on the bones.  Howard and Scott are still JAG types IMO benefiting from great O-Line play.  Gainwell is a good change up/passing game RB.

I would LOVE Isaiah Spiller in the draft.

Because you're wrong?

He had a bad throw in the second half. The INT was not on him. After the Slay TD, throwing the ball would have been stupid because the only way the Broncos were going have any chance of winning was for the Eagles to help them by throwing the ball.

Since you are having trouble understanding, let me make it simple for you by putting it in hockey terms. If the other team pulls its goalie and outshoots you in the last two minutes of the third period, you don't criticize your team for not pulling your goalie just so you can register as many shots as the other team, right? Well, what you are doing is the equivalent in football.

It was helmet to helmet, not just high.

I put Hurts 3rd.  I think Josh Allen is ahead of him as well.

I figured today would be tough for the Hurts hating crowd after a big road win.

Except he wasn't equally bad in the 2nd half. The interception was off his arm being hit from behind in max protection (staying in the pocket ).

So basically one bad pass, and the running game uses Hurts as an option, his ability to run outside keeps the defense from stacking up between the tackles and allows the OL to open big holes inside. So you have to give him some credit for the 60 yard drive even if he doesn't pass the ball. He's an integral part of the running game, something Minshew can't give you.

He's still learning to recognize blitzes, which of course is shocking for a QB with 14 starts under his belt.

It's a safer commentary to say that we really don't have a full picture of if he were better or worse in the 2nd half.  He had a strong 1st half.

He did have an INT (to go along with his TDs), but he also had a TD dropped and an another INT defended by Smith.

He's played better lately and was very impressive in the first half.

I guarantee the majority of Hurts realists would love for him to emerge as a quality QB.
