Gannon, Johnson and Steichen make list of others to watch in the coming years.

Sirianni made his list of potential head coaches the previous two years, and turned down an opportunity to interview with the Browns to focus on the playoffs.

Like half the coordinators in the league are on that list!

Also quite a number of former Eagles players / coaches on this list: Mike Kafka, DeMeco Ryans, John DeFilippo, Press Taylor and of course our current OC and DC.

One way to see how different zone and man can be, look at Hurts' long run. AT one point it looks like he's chasing a Bronco. The guys has his back to Hurts and doesn't see him take off. You won't see that kind of thing against a zone.

They aren't in man on that play. They have three linebackers on that play. Two of them are playing zone. They let Stoll go down the seam where he is picked up by the safety. Then one passes off Jackson to the other and then goes to get depth. The problem is that the third linebacker doesn't know his assignment. He blitzes initially, and then follows the running back, who is heading toward the flat, which is where he was supposed to be.

Hurts made a mistake in not just throwing it to Howard, who picks up the same yardage. But the reason the play went for a big gain was that a linebacker made a blunder, not due to any scheme issues.

Too central still. Try Honolulu.

Speaking of golf, I was given a $100 gift card to a golf store here, but can't figure out what to use it on. Got tons of balls, clothes, all the clubs I need....any suggestions?

Gift it. There are organizations like First Tee that bring golf to youth, especially urban impoverished youth.

this 10000% Toronto helps Buffalo and when Buffalo is "ok" the stadium is empty.

Also, When Buffalo was going through the stadium issues they mentioned they didnt want Toronto to take the games but rather Penn State. Says a lot about the confidence in that city to support

Toronto is not viable.  The attendance for the NFL series games dropped during its 5-year span from 52,000 in 2008 to less than 39,000 in 2013.

It's hard to think of a less deserving city for an NFL franchise.

Buffalo was hot garbage then. The one good start they had in 2011 (5-2) they played Washington and the numbers rose from prior year (this was the only game I went to in the series). But they crashed and burned in 2011, and the attendance never recovered.

Toronto is a fair weather sports city for the most part. When the teams are good, there is a crazy amount of support shown. When they're bad, not as much. The Leafs are different, but most of their in game fans are a result of corporate sponsors or business deals.

The biggest issue Toronto would have would be a stadium. The SkyDome can't really handle football games, especially now that it's Blue Jays only basically.

We see a lot of man coverage for some reason. That goes against conventional wisdom.

Man gives you an extra player against the run.

If St. Louis gets a team as part of a settlement for the Suit they've filed against the league, they can't very well add just one team. Unless they move one?  I can see an expansion team or two in Canada - though I doubt the CFL would be thrilled with that - but beyond North American it seems like the logistics would be daunting.

San Antonio.  San Antonio is the seventh largest US city.  It is three and a half hours from Houston and closer to five from Dallas.  Can also draw from Austin, about an hour up I35. (I35 corridor has a greater population than PA). Texas is a football state.   Makes sense.

I hate those lists. They just copy and paste literally anyone. I remember back in 2019 when they put it out and Mike Groh was on it.

How was he not good against zone?  He threw the ball 3 times right?  IDK that the sample size is big enough there, at least in that game.

Right. One for three for two yards and an INT. It’s a small sample to be sure. Sirianni went into a cocoon.

Oh I pointed it out, but in the 2nd half, they hardly passed the ball.

Zone is better against scrambling QBs, but on runs, Hurts ran outside b/c Howard and Scott aren't threats to bounce it outside - so Hurts, even though he didn't get a lot of yard, froze the DE, who stayed home instead of crashing down the LOS to make tackles behind the OL. This is where Sanders could help if he ran better, his speed makes him a threat to bounce it for a big gain, so the defense has to play the run straight up.

One problem Hurts will have against zone is young WRs don't have a good feel for soft spots and timing their routes. Goedert is probably the only reliable zone buster, and we'll see if he plays this week. Chad Lewis and Celek excelled at this, you could count on them finding a soft spot and using their big bodies to provide an easy target, even though they ran 5.0 40s. Avant was also good at this.

Scott isn’t a threat to bounce it outside?  You have said this twice.  Kid has been pretty good bouncing it outside so I don’t see that.

The way to combat the zone is on RB routes.  You also keep talking about the Colts offense.  What surprises me, especially with Scott and Gainwell is the lack of RB passes.   I suspect that may change against the Saints this week.

One thing I'm surprised that no one has commented on. In the first half last Sunday the Broncos were playing almost entirely man. In the second half they went zone. Hurts was just fine against man, not so much against zone. Expect a lot of zone this week against the Saints. Hurts has to prove he can beat it.

Man coverage works much better against RPOs. Broncos also had good CBs, so that played into it.

The Broncos front 4's inability to stop the run was the problem IMO, not the coverage behind it.

Saw this tweet today and in all honesty, I think a lot of fans think this and that's why they like Hurts so much.

I agree that Hurts was very good against man, but there were only 3 pass attempts in the 2nd half.  1 incompletion - broken up by Smith.  1 interception.  1 completion.  Bit too small a sample size to draw a lot of conclusions, but I agree with the proposal that the Saints will be playing a lot more zone.

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!   Go Jets!!!

Going to be interesting to see what Miles Sanders can do behind a run focused O-Line. Kind of exciting to think about what he could do if he doesn't dance around.

Also, almost didn't recognize Sirianni in the Eagles gear.

Which is weird to me because I still don't understand the appeal. He has no personality whenever he talks. Between him going to Alabama, running a lot and speaking in metaphors all the time he really reminds me of Forrest Gump.

Personality doesn't enter into it for me -- just get the job done.  Aaron Rodgers has tons of Packers fans and his own family doesn't even like him:

Hate to say that R word but RACE.

You listen to sports talk radio in this town and 99.999% of the African Americans call up the stations bragging, boasting and talking how great Hurts is.

Way to post a "those people" opinion. You are an idiot.

I like how Howard and Scott just run and hit the hole. I definitely don't miss the dancing. Sanders didn't get into any rhythm because we only ran the ball once in the beginning and then stopped back when he was healthy

It'll be interesting how they manage to spread the ball out to Sanders, Gainwell, Scott, and Howard. My guess is Gainwell doesn't see the field anymore

I'd say it's Scott that gets factored out. Sanders is the starter, Howard is the between the tackles/pass protection guy, Gainwell is out there for the passing game. Scott is the guy that can do all 3 but not as good as the other guys.

But Scott has been doing well since Sanders has been out. Gainwell didn't really get any touches even when Sanders was healthy

Gainwell was getting over 4 targets in the passing game per game when Sanders was playing. That's his role, not to get RB touches. Scott has 3 total targets in the last 3 games. Hurts, Sanders, Howard will be the three getting the rushing touches. Gainwell plays in the passing game. That pushes out Scott as the 4th RB.

I think they will keep it as is and just give Sanders some limited touches, even if he's ok in practice.

I'm not sure about this.

I think NS knows with Jalen Hurts he cant get behind the chains. Sanders is the home run hitter with too many strike outs so to speak.

NS would rather have Howard getting +2, +4 on 1st downs with a chance of 7 yard gain rather than Sanders being -2, -5, with a chance of +65 with this offense.

Hurts isnt a guy we can ask him to convert 2nd and 14's and 3rd and longs while 3rd and manageable opens up a lot of the playbook.

We'll see. Sirianni said today "If Sanders is healthy, he's the starter"
