I kind of feel Pitts falls into a weird category like Elliott did for the cowpokes. Great top tier talent, but kind of went too high to a team that didn't NEED that position.

Would you call Pitts the best non-QB player in the last draft?

I think Pitts will have a great career and be a top player for years to come, but the Falcons have so many needs and holes that drafting Pitts doesn't really make them that much better.

No? I think Chase is better than him. I think Rashawn Slater is better than him. I think, unfortunately for us, even Parsons is better. That's just 3 off the top of my head.

As I mentioned before, theres gonna be a solid argument in 5 years that Herimiuth is the better pro QB.

Waddle/ Smith / Jamar Chase in 5 years will be head and shoulders above Pitts.

Then you have Rashawn Slater and Micah Parsons(barring injuries) that'll end up with gold jackets.

We think similarly, which concerns me...

Except on Freirmuth. I was big on him going into the season, grabbed him in my dynasty fantasy league, but Pitts is better than him and will have a better career. They both appear to be really good TE's, but of course the draft capital used to get Pitts was too much.

I appreciate learning from others as I know I don't know everything.  So thanks for that Texas education.  When you mention a raven, however, my identification to my Irish ancestry and all things Olde Celtic Pagan make me think of the Morrigan, the Goddess of War and Death.  I also have Native America roots so can appreciate the reference to him stumbling like a raven, though they are the most intelligent of the avians, with their ability to use tools and learn and adapt from previous behaviours.

By the time Sam Houston got to Indian Nation, before he got to Texas, he had been adjunct general, a congressman and governor of Tennessee. (Crockett wasn’t the only former Tennessee Congressman to fight for Texas independence.)  Houston had a scandal and resigned as governor of Tennessee, sent his wife home to,her family and headed to the Cherokee Nation, where by his own admission, he was drunk most of the time.

I find it a bit funny that Crockett is remembered for the Disney movies and the Alamo, despite his history as a statesman and Houston is remembered most as the general that ambushed Santa Anna’s split army during siesta to win independence, primarily by capturing Santa Anna.  (People forget about the other part of Santa Anna’s army and how much of a threat it was.). People tend to overlook all the time that Houston spent as an elected official.

Didn’t see it posted that Stacy was arrested.

Pitts will have a better career than Waddle as well.  I was very high on Waddle as an Eagles pick, when I figured we'd be picking in the 16-20 range.  He was way over-drafted at #6 overall.

Agreed Pitts > Waddle... now and projecting forward

@LeanMeanGM

Eagles 20

Saints 16

Bonus: Eagles run for 175 yards

@LeanMeanGM

Eagles: 24

Saints: 17

Bonus: Reagor scores a TD and has a play for negative yards (either during a drive or on a return)

I get the numbers you're giving and in one hand it makes sense. But once again why is it such a big market?  Austin is a city native Texans are fleeing because of the California invasion.  San Antonio is becoming a southern NYC melting pot.  It's also becoming LA like that nobody is going to want to drive a couple hours to SA, just to drive equal time in city because the infrastructure can't handle the expansion.  They'd have to drop the stadium way on the outskirts to the point where it's like the Niners...they're called San Fran but they're not.  Also if you want to talk TV market, you wanna piss off a real Texan...have the NFL mess with their cash cow that it the Turds by splitting TV coverage and alienating a large chunk of the their fanbase.

The poop joke though lol

Say what? San Antonio has always been the northern most city in Mexico. As Tex-Mex's like to say, the border moved, they didn't.

I-35 is nothing like a LA Freeway (cue Guy Clark), it's always been an easy drive to San Antonio, unlike I-10 in Houston, which is an absolute nightmare after 40 years of constant construction (forget escape from LA, trying getting out of Houston during rush hour).

Old Austinites (which include many "newcomers" from the 1960s to 1980s) are fleeing, but out to the hill country, Wimberly, Buda, San Marcos, etc. The newcomers tend to move into North Austin, South Austin is still too funky for many of them, same with East Austin.

They would have been much better off drafting o-line like Sewell.

Kempski had an interesting question in the mailbag: how does Sirianni compare to the other 2021 hires.

Dan Campbell, Lions

David Culley, Texans

Urban Meyer, Jaguars

Robert Saleh, Jets

Nick Sirianni, Eagles

Arthur Smith, Falcons

Brandon Staley, Chargers

Guy has had some flaws in year 1 sure but man I don't think I realized how rough that list is in retrospect.

Going into the season I had Sirianni in the middle. Meyer, Culley and Campbell were always worse IMO. I liked Saleh and Smith more with Staley at the top. I think it's fair to say Sirianni is second best behind Staley. But I also think he's looking better because of some really bad hires.

It's hard to evaluate new coaches given only a half season, but Siri has impressed me with his ability to adjust the offense to make it work with the talent we have.

Flowers aside, he also seems to be well respected by the players.

All those coaches except Staley inherited extremely flawed rosters, and Jets, Houston, Jags, Atlanta were the top 4 picks in the draft. Lions not far behind. It's not surprising they're all struggling so far.

No, but am I wrong?

I think the "injury bug” is what has affected him the most.  But in terms of "skill set” he’s still a very good "all around” RB.

But not worth paying him a 2nd contract, unless it's extremely team friendly.

Fully admit it's way too early to evaluate. Still if we're looking at trends only 2 of those coaches have made steady positive improvement from last year and beginning of the year. Granted I think leangreen is right in that it's kind of a queen of the pigs situation.

Just got the notification that Goedert was extended through 2025

Just finished watching film of DeMarvin Leal against Ole Miss.  Definitely a 1st round talent and I'd love to get either him or Jordan Davis for the DL in the 1st round.

Matt Corral film from the same game, OTOH?  Yuck.
