That's a lot. But not surprised.

Slightly higher terms than Rapp said

I remember people in here saying we would not re-sign him.

He probably won't be top 3 paid by the beginning of next season when his extension kicks in. Lots of TE's could hit the market this off-season.

I wonder if they spread Goedert's initial cap hits to be heavier in years 3/4. Would help with our cap situation next year.

Based on the FA market with tight ends makes sense. Henry and smith got 12.5 mil per year. And Henry got $25 mil guaranteed. I’m guessing his cap number is somewhat low next year due to the cap situation and then jumps higher in 2023 and beyond

Great news on the Dallas Goedert extension.  Another L for those that were pushing for the Eagles to let him walk.

I think there was more people arguing whether they should re-sign him as he likely was going to get 14-15 mil

Zach Berman Stat that backs up EXACTLY why Jordan Howard should be your starter.

Jordan Howard has 4 carries that are 1 yard gains or less(including lost yards) out of 40 carries.

Miles Sanders has 19 carries for a yard gain or less out of 63

^^^^this is Exactly why you come out of the gates with Howard, you truly dont have a QB that can handle 2nd or 3rd and longs.

I posted an article a couple days ago that mentioned Howard has only had 9 negative runs for his entire Eagles career. It might not be pretty, but all the dude does is fall forward.

I'll live with Sanders negative yard plays, he has a better YPC than Howard and we need the ability to hit the big running plays. I'd like to see the Eagles mix it up more between the two of them when Sanders is back in.

Probably. When signing bonuses aren't leaked with the comp updates its because they are small. I wouldn't be surprised if it's roster bonuses that guarantee down the line.

But not worth paying him a 2nd contract, unless it's extremely team friendly.

Could be, never know.  Or "incentive driven” type deal.

I would have just tagged him a bunch of times

boooooooo

So while the extension seems high, to play devil's advocate here are some of the top FA TEs over the next 2 years:

Gronk, Ertz, Ebron, Everett, Cook, Williams, Alie-Cox, Tonyan, Howard, Hurst, Engram, Gesicki, Schultz, Doyle, Rudolph, Hockenson, Fant, Knox, Smith

The TE market value is going to be reset in the next year or so. Eagles are, for better or worse, trying to getting ahead of it.

Are the details out yet?

I am surprised he accepted a deal while recovering from a concussion, I'd imagine you wouldn't want to be dealing with any brain fog when considering such a major deal.

That is a lot.  More than I would have preferred, but it's not outrageous.

If I remember correctly I think they also wore all black when they beat the Saints last year.

I'd take the bet that he will. There's going to be a lot of mid tier FA's like Engram, Ertz, Howard, Uzomah. Only guy that will come close IMO is Gesicki.

Only 4 years 59 mil. Guaranteed is 35.7 mil. Usually over the cap and spotrac updates in a couple weeks.

Nope we know. RBs aren't worth 2nd contracts, unless they're All Pro type RBs. And even then it's questionable. I'd say Henry, Kamara are the only ones I'd do without thinking about it. Then, I'd think long and hard and it would depend on the rest of my roster when it comes to Saquon, CMC, and Cook, as all are big time injury concerns. After that, any RB can walk as far as I'm concerned after their initial contract is up.

Has he cleared concussion protocol yet?
