Maybe I am wrong but people said we could not resign him due to the cap. I get when people say we shouldn't, but I swear there were some arguing we wouldn't be able to.

Idk i never thought they’d let him walk. The worse case scenario was always going to be to franchise him which i believe was 10.8 mil. I know there was the rumor they considered dealing him back at the end of august/September in a QB trade (i forget who reported it at the moment… i want to say it was ertz’s agent right after he got dealt to Arizona)

Franchise tag never felt right to me.

Glad we got this done!

I think that was the worse case scenario for them. They would never just let him walk.

Well has been a pain in the neck for fans and the defense for much of the year.

Interesting note, that's 3/5 from the 2018 draft class extended.  Will be 4 if they extend Maddox. Turned into a solid draft despite limited resources.

There's no question it's a decent draft.  They have added so many other CB's I would have to think they are hedging against Maddox staying.  He's put together a strong season and is definitely a young player that's worth keeping.  The problem is his injury history.

Easy Top 10 TE, top 10 LT, solid DE and a good nickel back, plus a future 2 that turned into Sanders.

That’s objectively a very good class.

Injury history and what he might be asking for. At the right price I’d keep him. But i think they have young guys they like that can play slot corner moving forward

Hit on 80% of their picks.  I’d say so.

Pretty wild they can draft that well right between 2 years where they whiffed hard on almost every pick (2017/2019).

I have been very critical of Howie's drafts but yeah, 2018 is a good class. 2017 is the one that is really killing you.

2019 was awful given the JJAW pick and to some extent Dillard.

2020 looks like Reagor was a terrible pick. Hurts is an incomplete. Taylor is an incomplete.  Driscoll was a decent pick.  Bradley was a decent pick.  Watkins looks like a decent pick.

He's so good

I generally agree on both. For 2019, I don't see any of those guys here after next year. There's no reason to re-sign Dillard because even average O-linemen will get paid (see Vaitai). Miles Sanders will likely want too much money. JJAW can block and play special teams but I think the team needs to move on.

I think 2020 is trending in the right direction overall. The Reagor pick was obviously the wrong one (don't blame me, I wanted Ceedee Lamb and I would have given up whatever to get him). The other guys still here are still developing and contributing. So I think that is positive overall.

So.. Goedert, Sweat, Mailata, Maddox, Driscoll, Bradley, Watkins, Taylor, Sanders, Smith, Williams and Hurts were good picks?

Too bad Mr. Roseman sucks at drafting!

Yeah 2019 was objectively bad.

2020 depends on upside at this point. Hurts, Taylor, Driscoll, and Watkins are startable players. Bradley is a STs captain type with possible LB upside. That's a pretty solid class already albeit with no home runs yet.

I've said this before. As a rookie, Dallas Goedert was already a better player than Brent Celek ever was. He's never put up the big numbers that he's capable of because he's been forced to share the load with Zach Ertz. But when you watch the guy play, you can just see that he's a damn good tight end. I'm pretty excited that he's going to be around for awhile.

And while I'm here... @LeanMeanGM   Saints 29 Eagles 27. BONUS: Simien with 300 yards passing. (Note: I think I've predicted the winning team correctly only one time all year so I'm making this prediction with that in mind.)

2019 was meh, but Dillard wasn't a bad pick, it's obvious this year that he'll start somewhere at LT, it's not Howie's fault he made a better 7th rd pick!

Sanders was fine where he was picked, JJAW was the whiff, don't care about the last two, odds are against you at #138 and #167.

2020, Reagor was Pederson's pick, maybe Hurts as well, it was the classic "do we give the HC what he wants or fire him" draft. Hurts is fine value, people who think you can draft top backup QBs, much less top 20 QBs, after the 1st rd on a regular basis are smokin' something good. Hurts is outplaying the majority of QBs picked in the top 15 the last four years. Most of the top backups are failed starters, and other than Tyrod Taylor, what later round picks would you want? And who has a backup as good as Hurts?

Every other pick was > #100, and they have two starters, Taylor and Driscoll, and some solid backups, Bradley, Watkins, Wallace.

Should Howie have overruled Pederson? Sure, and then he should have fired him and started the rebuild. "Either go way, or go all the way in . .. "

Saints 27- Eagles 22 @LeanMeanGM

Bonus Payton has a stroke yelling at the refs

You have to choose 1 from each list for our team next year

List 1 - Aidan Hutchinson, George Karlaftis, DeMarvin Leal

List 2 -  Andre Booth Jr.. Kaiir Elam, Ahmad Gardner

List 3 -  Tyler Linderbaum, Kenyon Green, Charles Cross

Who you taking?

I’ll say this one more time.  Just because they extended the player, doesn’t mean it was a "hit”.  Sweat has not been a "hit” this year.  Goedert is good but certainly hasn’t had the production his contract would suggest.  Mailata is good but still a work in progress.  Maddox is ok.  Hardly a "hit”.  So how do you come up with 80%.

Just because a player drafted is a starter, doesn’t mean he’s a "hit”.  When you have a 4 win team, someone needs to start.

Actually, when it comes to analyzing drafts, a starting caliber player is considered a "hit”…especially the later they are taken.

60%+ of all drafted players aren’t even in the league after 5 years.

Starting Caliber?  So what you're saying is all of the Jets, Jags, Dolphins, Eagles, Giants......etc......rosters are full of "hits" because they are starting?

SOMEONE HAS TO START

So, either most of your draft picks are HoFers or the draft is a fail?

Seems legit.

I think the "maybe Hurts as well" qualifier dependent on if Hurts turns out to the be the franchise guy or not was the cherry on top.
