My even more cynical take is:

Reagor was drafted because they saw him as the next Desean Jackson

JJAW was drafted because they saw him as the next Alshon Jeffery

Pumphrey was drafted because they saw him as the next Darren Sproles

Hurts was drafted because they saw him as the next Russell Wilson

They need to adjust their philosophy -- to just drafting the best talent to fit that philosophy.

What philosophy?   They have no philosophy other than trying to recreate the past... or correct past mistakes.

Wonder if they are shooting something there for their new season?

I can't believe we're discussing it again, but it's a joke that Doug insisted on drafting Reagor and Howie just abided. I've heard people, Chris Simms for example, with connections to the NFL talk about how the whole league new Howie was "hot for Jalen Reagor." Howie made the pick. The excuses are ridiculous. It was an atrocious evaluation. Anyone with a hint of football knowledge knew that Reagor wasn't good enough to be taken in that spot. The only thing he had going for him was speed, and he didn't even test well in the 40.

I've already posted the links, the scouts wanted Jefferson, Pederson wanted Reagor because he wanted speed. Howie deferred to Pederson.

They knew he was fast, they used speed off the game film, not the workout, to evaluate him. Which is a better measure (who cares how fast players run in shorts?).

It’s that simple.

We don't know the dynamics inside the room, if the Eagles don't win the SB, Pederson has far less leverage - but if Pederson is adamant that he can make the offense fly with a fast WR to open the field for Wentz, and they're committed to Wentz (new contract) and Pederson has pull, it's a tough spot - because if you decide to cross Pederson then Howie might as well fire him and start the rebuild - but would Lurie go along with that? We saw Snider keep Hextall from blowing it up. It's hard for an owner to say lets lose for three years, which is what that meant.

Pederson couldn’t even pick his assistants, but yeah, Pederson wanted to spend a 1 on a fast WR so Howie threw him a bone? Nah.

I’m sure Doug wanted more speed, but the issue is that Howie looked at Reagor and Jefferson as close enough as prospects that he decided to break a tie. The scouting staff didn’t see it that way, but Howie went with the lower graded player.

Would have been a great addition next year at that price.

I like him but wanted someone another  tier higher

I thought it was impossible for Howie to retain any good players because cap space. I guess we wont be able to sign any free agents, or retain anymore players, or even sign our draft class now.

For sure our cap situation limited FA acquisitions this past off-season and will again in 2022.

Davis is a monster. Best comparison i saw was albert hatnesworth but if he cared about football

Eagles philosophy is to invest in the trenches, and to ignore LB and S.

You can disagree, but it is clear as day.

Holy s___.

The air force offense is so boring. Must be incredibly aggravating to play against

Interesting observation.

For F sake, let this rumor die. Unscrupulous websites are listing Davis's birthdate as that of a Georgia TE also named Jordan Davis from several years ago. This Jordan Davis is of normal age for a draft prospect.

Jordan Davis is 33. Pass.

Guess we're winning Sunday.

The problem is that Gannon hasn't put two good games together all year.   He tends to go back to what didn't work before. If he can actually call two decent games in a row, then we have a chance.

Eagles D line this year haven't shown to be able to take advantage of offenses missing multiple O line men, I can't imagine they'll have much of an advantage going against saints backups though I'm sure that won't stop Barnett from doing what he does best, commit penalties.
