Bad doesn’t begin to describe it.

It's only 10 yards per target.   Could be worse... I guess.

28 picks from 2017 - 2020.  Of that group, the hits are: Mailata, Sweat, Goedert, Sanders, Maddox, Driscoll.

2017 (0/8): Barnett, Jones, Douglas, Hollins, Pumphrey, Gibson, Gerry, Qualls.

2018 (4/5): Goedert, Sweat, Maddox, Pryor, Mailata.

2019 (2/5): Dillard, Sanders, Jjaw, Miller, Thorson.

2020 (5/10): Reagor, Hurts, Taylor, Wallace, Driscoll, Hightower, Bradley, Watkins, Wanogho, Toohill.

Even if I am really tough I see at least 11/28 that are hits. For 2021 I see 6/9, that would put us at 17/37.

It’s really the abysmal 2017 draft that skews these numbers though. If you go 2018-2021 you’ll be at 17/29, which is great!

And drafting Hurts was the biggest hit of them all.

Ok.  We can end the conversation here.

Nothing more to be said.

Where’s the great defensive players??

We drafted mostly offense, and added defense in FA. But yeah, would be nice.

I'm gonna give Stoutland a lot of credit on some of the OL "hits" in drafting FWIW. I get the impression he gets a lot of say in getting his guys. Can't take all the credit from Howie but still having a guy like Stout making recommendations/developing players definitely lowers the degree of difficulty a smidge.

Fun fact: Kurt Warner is the modern era single-season record holder for yards per pass attempt at 9.88. So every QB throwing to a TE in that span turns into prime Kurt Warner against us.

It certainly does, although the GM still has to know when to pull the trigger on those players.

I ignore nobody. It’s fun to see how people like you are wrong all the time.

But I guess if you are really insecure about your opinions it makes things easier.

What does the average slot corner command in free agency nowadays?

Article goes into some detail but overall outside the elite guys pure nickel CBs seem to be relatively cheap. Throws out a guestimate of 3 years 12-18 million but admits that slot guys tend to be all over the map when it comes to contacts.

Would most around here be "ok” with a 3 year 12-15 mil deal for Maddox?

Another bad day of college games .

No.  Not even close.

That would be a ridiculous overpay.

Taron Johnson is the most recent top slot to sign. He’s at 3 for $24M. I wouldn’t expect Maddox to approach that, but 3 for $12M is probably too light.

They're not saying per year. He's throwing out a guess of 12-18 total. So 4-6 million per year.

The guess was 12-18m for all three years. Even at 18m that wouldn’t even make your list.

Ah... in that case... $15M for 3 years is likely the right range.

My only concern is his health... and it will remain a concern until he puts 2 consecutive seasons together without injury.  There was never any doubt he could play, only if he'd play.

Fair … but none of our Offensive Lineman put together 2 consecutive healthy seasons.

Speaking of that is Brandon Brooks done for the year?

He was supposed to be out for 8 weeks and slated to return against the Saints tomorrow. There was zero mention of him so it will take longer, but he should return eventually.

Interesting side note: Prince Tega Wanogho is on the Chiefs active roster.

That was my biggest concern with drafting him.  An oft-injured OL to add to an OL of oft-injured players.  But, he has talent.  It was never a question of talent.

As for Brooks, not officially shut down, there is talk of him being activated soon... maybe.

Fat lot of good that does the Eagles though.

4-5 mil per year for a starting slot back is too much?

He thought you meant 12-18 per year. Which would have been crazy talk.

I misread your intent.  My mistake.

Yeah I saw that later.  I think even a deal at 6 mil per year should be "ok” imo.

He had like 30 picks and hit on half of them, that’s good drafting.

And that lazy "no pro bowlers” …

I bet Mailata, Goedert, Smith and Hurts will be soon enough. Maybe even Dickerson.

Yea Howie’s a good drafter.
