Eagles don’t need a Center in the first round, everyone knew Humphrey was a good Center and he lasted to 63, Now in rookie season he’s a top 3 C in the NFL.  Reid also got G Trey Smith in the 6th round and he’s now a top 15 Guard.  
 Stoutland is a fine running game coordinator, heck Doug gave him the credit for the 2017 running game, but he’s a great O-Line coach.  Unless the Eagles grade an OT in the top 10, potential All Pro, they need players on defense, lots of them.

We have players on the roster that can play center while we groom a later round pick.

DE, S, LB, CB, DT…the entire defense are all higher needs than center. It would be nice to get the best one in Linderbaum, but we have too many other needs.

I agree that both DE and S are higher needs. LB, CB and DT are needs, but they are not bigger needs than center.

I liked the Goedert/Mailata/Sweat extensions. 2 premium positions + a top 7 player at his position.

I don't feel as good about Maddox. Is he having a good year? Yes. Is he playing like a top 5 slot CB? Probably. But he basically has one good year (2nd half of 2018, 1st half of 2021). He's also battled injuries in multiple seasons because he's small. Is it hard to find good slot CBs? Yes, but it's not impossible.

The contract is "fair", but at some point we need Howie to outright win more of these contracts.

We’ll find out in the future if he won it by how Maddox plays (that goes without saying) and how the other slot contracts look in March. Did Howie jump the gun or did he get ahead of things?

My first reaction was: that's a bit rich. But thinking about it it's probably a good deal considering the growing importance of the slot corner and the rising cap.

We definitely have needs at DL. Cox isn't going to be around much longer. Ditto Barnett and Graham.
