Smith was 4 for 61 against one of the best corners in the league. He could've had a TD on the LB if Hurts didn't miss him/throw it late and he could've had a 2nd if he didn't trip.

Very close to 6 for 80+ and 2 TDs. I'd say he was open enough.

I thought Smith was going at about 80 percent on that play. If he ran as hard as he could he had a chance for the TD.

Of course, it might help if Goedert didn't drop 2 passes, and his WRs could actually get open.

Eagles desperately need a big possession WR with hands that snatch, because Hurts was putting the ball where his WRs could make plays.

But Jackson isn't a WR (he's as raw as they come) and even Smith struggled to get separation today.

Well, I actually saw Watkins open on a few occasions. To each their own.

The Eagles average just over 199 passing yards a game. Currently, only the winless Lions Bears and Texans are worse.

"Hurts passing is fine"

I like the people in here today who said Dickerson is a better pro than Smith already.

Uh.... yeah Dickerson is awesome. But it sure as hell helps not to have to rely on the sucky QB for your production. He has a distinct advantage in that regard, only having to rely on himself to play great. Poor Smith has to rely on Hurts seeing him, AND getting him the ball.

Likely on just about any other team, Smith is competing with and maybe beating Chase for OROY.

Dillard at LT, Mailata at RT. Pretty set. Driscoll is fine next to Mailata.

That’s a major decision to be made.  I don’t think they are going to go in that direction, although I’d be open to it.

I think they need to find RG/RT.  I don’t have a very high opinion of Driscoll unless he pulls an Evan Mathis and hits the juice.

Eagles have now won more games this year than they did last year.  They are averaging 34.5 points per game over their last 4 games.  Their next 5 games are against the Giants twice (3-6), the Redskins twice (4-6) and the Jets (2-8).  Of the teams they have lost to this season, none have a losing record.  When the Eagles paly other bad teams, they beat them.  Eagles are at the early stages of a big win streak that will carry them into the playoffs at possibly the 6th seed and not even the 7th.

I have to watch the play again cause i only saw it in real time. The one where smith was ruled out on the catch but if that all is thrown earlier i think what catches it. Gets at least inside the 5 and has a chance to make his way into the end zone

Yup.  The defense wasn’t as bad as the first half of the season led everyone to believe, and it’s not as good as the second half will leave everyone thinking.

Exactly.  They are still missing a lot of pieces on that side of the ball, but against bad QBs... that can be hidden.   The defense has been very good all year against bad Qbs.  Ryan, Darnold, Garoppolo, Goff, Bridgewater and Siemian.  6 bad QBs...  5 wins.  It is conceivable that the Eagles end up with 10 wins, given that they have 5 more games against bad QBs.  It is doubtful that they will manage to win all 5 of them though... this is the NFL and weird things do happen.  But, 4 seems reasonable.  9-8 would be a helluva pyrite strike.

If you have Dillard, Dickerson, Seumalo, Driscoll, Mailata

Youre probably in a situation where Driscoll is your weakest OL but hes quite alright so thats not necessarily an indictment of him.

And, he can still add strength. He is just 24 and had 1 weird covid offseason and 1 real offseason. There is plenty of opportunity for gains in the nova care weight room.

The right side of the OL should be a high priority in the draft.  Brooks is already gone, Lane is on borrowed time, and Driscoll is a flexible backup, not a starter.  They’ve got a great position coach and will be surrounded by other quality players on the line.

The chances of success and good return on investment with a high pick on a RG or RT are very, very good…much better than if they go with a different position.

Even if there are weaker positions, building a dominant OL is a great start to the rebuild.

Just draft and then move him to C whenever Kelce wants to go, but Kelce knows Eagles are in no rush.

Tyler locks down the RG then C position for a decade

There's that one, too, but I mean the throw that Hurts waited too long on and literally overthrew him in the end zone.

Not a TERRIBLE throw, but one that should be made.

I'm really trying to care about this Sunday night game because I have to stay up. But it's hard. SNF has been terrible this year.

The worst one was the one he threw late to a wide open Sanders... where he once again did a pirouette in the pocket before finally seeing Sanders and floating a deep ball to him.

Agree with you 100% and made this point earlier in the week.  Reminds me of the scene in Bill and Ted when they argue about a triumphant video.

Very real chance this team wins at least 10 games this season with the remaining schedule.  And he can pass.  The way haters like you talk about him it's like he is turning the ball over like crazy or something.  No, instead he's just moving the offense, scoring points and now winning games.

He can't throw. It's so obvious. People are in denial man

How did the Chargers get a Sunday night game and we didn't? They have like 3 fans.

I realize this sounds crazy, but I'm not in a rush to fix the defense.  This isn't 1970-2000 where a great defense could carry you to a title.  There is no such thing as a ferocious pass rush or shut-down secondary.

You know the best way to stop an elite offense?  Have your offense score TDs on the first 2-3 possessions and get the opposition to panic and depart from their game plan.  Or hope that the opposing QB has a bad day full of misfires.  Yes, pressure and the defense can force those misfires, but I really believe that it tends to be more of an intrinsic problem in the pitch and catch NFL of 2021 and beyond.

Our defense certainly could be better, but there aren't many D's out there that can actually dictate games, especially against elite offenses.

I don't want to waste too much draft capital chasing after an idea that hasn't been real since 2000.

Their schedule is really set up similarly to 2019 where they got the perfect schedule down the stretch. That said i think they have better offensive talent going into next season then what the eagles had at the end of that season. The defense i still think is fraudulent. They feast on bad/mediocre QBs (i consider Ryan in this category now) and better QBs: 42 for mahomes, 34 points for Dak, carr put up 33 (really think the ruggs incident is going to destroy their season), herbert put up 27, brady put up 28. The league is made for good to great QBs to have success. So it’s not just the eagles but really the eagles haven’t looked competent to stop those QBs for the majority of games.

Just another what if scenario.  If the Eagles wanted to build an elite defense, they could have a LB core of Kenneth Murray and Micah Parsons.

Asante Samuel Jr. Sighting! Wish we had him. Still have his dad's jersey.

We know that any high functioning passing offense will score on this defense at will.

If Sanders had come back to the ball, Williams would not have been able to bat it.  That is a fundamental 101 level error. He adjusted sideways but should have stepped up to it.

As opposed to the QB running in a circle in the pocket for no reason.  Hurts panicked and once more turned his back on the defense for no reason.  He had all day.  Yes, Sanders could have come back, but it shouldn't have mattered.  Hurts doing his headless chicken impersonation was more egregious.
