Being a half game out of the playoffs is more of an indictment on the NFL watering the post season down. We’re a full game behind being .500.

Very true; this is why I was so opposed to the changes to the playoff format and regular season.  IMO, the NFL vastly outshined other major sports because every Sunday was so, so critical.  Baseball, hockey, basketball...any individual regular season game is nearly meaningless.

Now...an extra regular season game, 50% of the league makes the playoffs, and...only one team in each conference gets bye week.  That really decreases the intensity and importance of actually getting a win on any given Sunday.

If you are a decent team...it basically means you are going to the playoffs and you aren't getting the bye.  Might as well start to tune in around December.

Dallas is sort of like the Sixers.  They are a good team.  They have talent.  Dak is good, not great.  Their weapons are good, not deadly.  The defense is improved.  Easily a playoff team.

And their nucleus just isn't good enough to truly compete for a title.

I think the afc representative is going to be whatever team gets hot and just carries it through the playoffs. The nfc it’s down to 5 teams imo. However i don’t trust any of them right now. Cause i don’t know if murray stays healthy. Rams have issues. Bucs have secondary issues but i think they turn it around. Packers have corner issues and injury issues along the line. Dallas is Dallas

For the sake of keeping our feet firmly planted... if the Eagles were in the AFC, rather than the NFC... they'd be the 13th seed currently, not the 9th.

Not for me. So agree to disagree I guess. Do I think Hurts is the long term answer? No. But id love him to prove me wrong. And I still won't root for them to lose. They are my team. Good or bad.

Rooting for the team means rooting for a SB not mediocrity. Sometimes you have to take a step back to make the needed changes. How many years have we seen a player like Lamb or others go just ahead of where the Eagles picked because they won a meaningless game? It makes a difference.

Even if they hadn't made the change we are only half game out of six too. This is just a year with a bunch of average teams and few elite ones.

I still say use the 3 firsts on D.

Sign a free agent WR.

And trade Sanders, Minshew, and future picks for Wilson.

The team will be complete after this offseason.

A rebuilt D with an infusion of youth. A legit QB to get the ball to weapons like Smith, Quez, Sutton?, and Goedert.

Draft Robinson Jr from Alabama in the mid rounds, and pound teams with Howard and Robinson on the ground.

In the NFC...

I'm a realist. In my 36 trips around the sun they have won it once. You don't make it to the SB every year. But I enjoy making the playoffs. Anything can happen then.

I don't think the AFC is a whole lot better Honestly.

True. It is what it is - and you play who play. We have 5 bad teams on deck, have a bye, and don’t need to fly anywhere.

Meh...... through the first half of the season, the top 5 teams all came from the NFC. Arizona, STL, GB, Dallas, Tampa Bay. I heard a stat that through, week whatever those teams were a combined 30-4.

AFC doesnt really have any dominant teams to beat up on the lesser teams badly so their records may be more evenly distributed with slightly higher win totals for more teams.

Gotta be tougher to go through the NFC this year. Although, now most of those teams are faltering.

Their records are.  Eagles would be seeded #13, not #9 in AFC.

Not the Flyers in the Metro division this year. Every point is going to count.

They may be deeper but is there any team or there that is leaps and bounds above the rest? I'm seeing allot of average records throughout the whole league this year.

You should be old enough to have seen players they could have used go a few picks above them because they made the playoffs and got tossed out after one round. This is a rebuilding year and while I don't expect them to try to lose games I sure as hell am rooting for it. They aren't in the same class as the real contenders and the only way they will get better is with better talent. Picking higher doesn't guarantee it but I'll take my chances because it isn't just about the first round. It's about every round after that when players start to slip and end up just out of reach.

In other words, a regression to the mean for those teams.

put me down for Hamilton with the miami pick

There's a couple free agents, Jessie Bates and Marcus Williams. I hope they can land one then draft another on day 1 or 2.

I'm not talking about where it would be easier to make the Super Bowl... but about where it would be more difficult to make the playoffs.  The AFC is a tougher spot than the NFC.

The wild card race in the afc is Steelers, chargers, bengals, bills, colts, and browns. Every one of those teams is over .500. The nfc is Minnesota, saints, eagles, SF, Carolina and New Orleans. None are over .500. Minnesota I’d put with those afc teams and can beat them. Everyone else I’d take the afc team over the nfc wild card teams.

Sounds about right.  I still think the Chiefs can steamroll anyone when they bring their A-game...an A-game that has been almost non-existent this year.  As incredible as Mahomes is, he's still a young QB in need of guidance; I think AR remains the engine of that team.  They go as far as his offensive mind can take them.  The distraction of his son cost them that last SB.  And I wonder and worry if some understated health problems are creating their uncharacteristic offensive ineptitude this year.

Buffalo is in a similar boat for different reasons.  They can flat-out dominate teams on both sides of the ball.  But Josh Allen is basically a Wentz clone...a strong-armed athletic gunslinger who can look like an MVP...but just can't play precisely enough from the pocket to be consistent.  Over the course of a playoff run, I think someone will always get their number.

Baltimore...Lamar Jackson can make jaws drop, but his short comings as a passer will burn them sooner or later in a playoff run, as we see every year.

Tennesse...no.

Don't look now...it's too early...but for 2023 and beyond...Belicheat and the Patriots may be ready to be a factor in the AFC.

Like I said. Each their own. I get all that. But if I wanted them to lose I wouldn't even bother watching. They are my team. I will always root for them to win. I know all don't see it that way but it is mine.

I'd laugh if we got in and made it farther than Dallass.

Everyone would.

Btw how is the playoff format going to work with 7 in. Top 3 bye instead of 2?

I thought only one team got a bye
