Btw how is the playoff format going to work with 7 in. Top 3 bye instead of 2?

Top 1 gets a bye.  2 plays 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 versus 5.   1 then plays the lowest seed, etc.

For the sake of keeping our feet firmly planted... if the Eagles were in the AFC, rather than the NFC... they'd be the 13th seed currently, not the 9th.

Sounds right. NFC is top heavy and then a bunch of mediocrity and a few bottom feeders. AFC has a good team, a ton of mediocrity, and the two punching bags in the AFC South.

The wild card race in the afc is Steelers, chargers, bengals, bills, colts, and browns. Every one of those teams is over .500. The nfc is Minnesota, saints, eagles, SF, Carolina and New Orleans. None are over .500. Minnesota I’d put with those afc teams and can beat them. Everyone else I’d take the afc team over the nfc wild card teams.

I thought only one team got a bye

Guess that would work as well. I never heard how the new system would work. I didn't expect us to even compete for playoffs this year.

You should be old enough to have seen players they could have used go a few picks above them because they made the playoffs and got tossed out after one round. This is a rebuilding year and while I don't expect them to try to lose games I sure as hell am rooting for it. They aren't in the same class as the real contenders and the only way they will get better is with better talent. Picking higher doesn't guarantee it but I'll take my chances higher.

I absolutely get where you’re coming from - with an old team I agree, with a young team I tend to root for the players who are here to win. This is an old team with some young elements. Still got to make good picks though…

It’s the same as last year lol

Like I said. Each their own. I get all that. But if I wanted them to lose I wouldn't even bother watching. They are my team. I will always root for them to win. I know all don't see it that way but it is mine.

I'd laugh if we got in and made it farther than Dallass.

Get ready to laugh your ass off

Sounds about right.  I still think the Chiefs can steamroll anyone when they bring their A-game...an A-game that has been almost non-existent this year.  As incredible as Mahomes is, he's still a young QB in need of guidance; I think AR remains the engine of that team.  They go as far as his offensive mind can take them.  The distraction of his son cost them that last SB.  And I wonder and worry if some understated health problems are creating their uncharacteristic offensive ineptitude this year.

Buffalo is in a similar boat for different reasons.  They can flat-out dominate teams on both sides of the ball.  But Josh Allen is basically a Wentz clone...a strong-armed athletic gunslinger who can look like an MVP...but just can play precisely enough from the pocket to be consistent.  Over the course of a playoff run, I think someone will always get their number.

Baltimore...Lamar Jackson can make jaws drop, but his short comings as a passer will burn them sooner or later in a playoff run, as we see every year.

Tennesse...no.

Don't look now...it's too early...but for 2023 and beyond...Belicheat and the Patriots may be ready to be a factor in the AFC.

Chiefs defense is playing better. Granted not great competition but they were awful the first 7 games of the year. They are just giving up 11.8ppg in the last 4. I think if mahomes gets going they are the favorite. Frankly his interception today was on kelce. Also the chiefs dropped about 4-5 balls that would’ve made that game look more like a blow out. Mahomes has his issues this year too but his guys aren’t helping either. CEH looked good today though. I think that’s huge if he gets going.

I dont trust buffalo’s defense. They tend to struggle against teams that commit to the run. Titans and colts games. I’d add the offense isn’t as dynamic as last year. Allen has been great at times but not as good as last year. They like the chiefs have the ability too turn it on and win the conference.

titans since that rams game haven’t looked great. They held on against the saints. Today they were awful. Had 6 turnovers. They look like a team with no identity on offense. i just do t see tannehill getting them to the Sb. They are the most Jekyll and Hyde team

Baltimore comes down to lamar making throws in the playoffs. And if their secondary can hold up.

colts figured it out. They are hot and they are. The recipe to be able to beat anyone. Taylor should be up for offensive player of the year. Wentz has played well and their defense Gets going they could be really tough. They are playing well right now.

New England has great defense. They are a dark horse if mac jones keeps improving. They not sure they make it but they’ll be in every game

Bengals and chargers imo are a year away. Browns until they upgrade from baker won’t win.

I didn't watch the playoffs last year lol. When eagles season is over so is mine. Then I go full into hockey. And college playoffs cause my Alma Mater usually in.

Only upside is they might give hurts one more year and actually use the first rounders for players they need.

I like Hurts the person but I still think the offense is limited with him. I'd be willing to let Hurts and Minshew battle it out and whoever passes better can start. Or find a very cheap vet that you can roll with. Fix the defense with the draft

They have to play to win. As a fan it's an experience mentality. Experience of watching Cooks go just ahead of them and they end up with Smith or Reager instead of Lamb. Jones instead of Dalvin Cook the list goes on...The season ends quickly and on draft day you aren't sitting there saying gosh I'm glad they won that extra meaningless game watching good players go just ahead of them for the first 3-4 rounds.

Yup.  The defense wasn’t as bad as the first half of the season led everyone to believe, and it’s not as good as the second half will leave everyone thinking.

At this point, the Eagles are what their schedule allows them to be.  Beat the bad teams, lose to the good ones.  That’s an improvement from losing to the bad teams.

I don't think anyone who is knowledgeable is fooled by this team, it's average or so, but last year they were 4-11-1 on merit, and this year they've lost both starting OGs and Graham, so it's not like they're being unusually healthy. So there has been solid improvement, both by players and the young coaches, which is cause for optimism.

People have to stop looking at Hurts as a traditional passing QB, he's orchestrating the best run game in the NFL, which just ran roughshod over the best run defense in the NFL. Sure, the OL deserves a lot of credit, but Hurts adds a dimension which stresses a defense. And he's a good enough passer who should improve, that is, he can make enough plays with his arm and doesn't make the bad plays that most young QBs do. No one's won a SB with a running QB b/c there's only been a handful of running QBs the last four decades - but McNabb his first few years was a running QB and he got to 3 NFC Championship games that way, and if they don't have a couple injuries, might have gotten to a SB before 2004.

There are few QBs who are both good enough passers to be credible, and good enough runners to threaten a defense. And many of them weren't durable to last.

Has Hurts been seriously dinged yet this year? He rarely is hit, either as a runner or in the pocket, he just has a feel for avoiding contact, and when he is hit, he's compact and tremendously strong, it's like tackling a power back - but he doesn't take the punishment of a power back like Howard, running inside 20 times a game.

I think for me is I enjoy watching the playoffs but I really don't give a crap about any other team. I didn't watch any playoffs last year. I'd like to this year.

There is a reason for this.  I would caution against trying to blaze a trail in becoming the first team to do so.

Wentz was 11-20 105 yards today. Could have just plugged Hurts in there. :smoke:

And the vast majority of passing QBs never won a SB.

LOL your argument to a RB QB not winning is to state the obvious that the best passing QB usually wins? Face palm.

Could’ve just plugged wentz into the saints game and won. the colts unlike the eagles can throw the ball when need be. Hence ravens they threw for 402 yards. Yet to be determined by the eagles against better defenses.

Hurts isn’t nearly as bad as the haters claim he is. Is he the one, no, but there are worse. Just keep him until we can draft a real one.  Build the D in the meantime.
