I like Hurts the person but I still think the offense is limited with him. I'd be willing to let Hurts and Minshew battle it out and whoever passes better can start. Or find a very cheap vet that you can roll with. Fix the defense with the draft

It's impossible not to agree that the offense is limited because Hurts isn't good enough throwing the ball.  (Good example was the 3rd down crossing pattern he completed to Smith throwing off his back foot.  Smith was wide open almost immediately amd Hurts has to make that throw quickly - instead he holds the ball and is lucky the line protected well enough for him to let Smith run 20 yards across the field before throwing.  Do that 10 times I say 6-7 are incomplete)

Draft defense for sure, but give me Hurts over Minshew or some slutty vet QB that likewise can't throw well enough.  After 2022 get the QB.

Wentz was 11-20 105 yards today. Could have just plugged Hurts in there

Because he didn't need to throw because the rush was working. But he can if he needs to. Watch the Ravens game.

There is a reason for this.  I would caution against trying to blaze a trail in becoming the first team to do so.

If there is a time to blaze a trail, this is the season, because Hurts isn't throwing us to victory.

Oh cool, Herbert throws another one we’ll never be able to

Yes and No, the original Jaws is an all time movie. Rambo will never be mistaken that way.

That was a hell of a throw by Herbert

They have to play to win. As a fan it's an experience mentality. Experience of watching Cooks go just ahead of them and they end up with Smith or Reager instead of Lamb. Jones instead of Dalvin Cook the list goes on...The season ends quickly and on draft day you aren't sitting there saying gosh I'm glad they won that extra meaningless game watching good players go just ahead of them for the first 3-4 rounds.

The experience of drafting busts like Jones and Douglas, Mack Hollins instead of Tarik Cohen, settling for Donnel Pumphrey, and winning the Super Bowl 9 months later.

I was glad they made a run in 2019.  It was fun to watch.  That wasn't the reason why they missed out on Jefferson in the 2020 draft.  There are still good players when our turn comes up.  Just need a better GM.

In other words, a regression to the mean for those teams.

Sure. But that doesnt make the AFC any tougher. If the eagles played more of those average teams in the AFC, they might have a better record right now too. Lost to SF when they looked decent in the first few weeks. Lost to TB by 6 with poor play from Hurts. Lost to Dallas while they were hot before their annual late November collapse.

Give us a couple of those average AFC teams instead our record might be different.

Elite line play can get you far. And we have that.

My biggest concern is howie and lurie think they are closer to being a contender than what they really are and go do something they shouldn’t. That to me would be something like trying to deal for Wilson (highly doubt they could even acquire him or him wanting to come here). If the eagles just miss the playoffs i could see them convincing themselves if they got a pro bowl caliber QB they could’ve made it. And they’d try to sell the farm. That worries me.

It gets you the farthest.

They would make the playoffs with a pro bowl QB and may make it without one.  The defense needs talent, but the offense just topped 30 plus points against 2 top 10 defenses.  Howie sucks drafting skill positions but he builds a nice offensive line.

I'd give Reid, Castillo, Stoutland the credit the eagles have had at O line.

I guess since Howie has been GM he's done a good job listening to the OL coaches evaluations.

I give Howie credit too.  He values the offensive line  and we see it in drafts, trades, and contracts

How good of a roster do you need to win a SB with baby Cam Newton… a lot more defense, Treylon Burks, more OL help… how long does it take develop and assemble all those parts. It’s quite a commitment…

Howard Mudd, were we even a ZBS team before he got here? Certainly, a stroke of luck for Kelce.

He hit Herbert while he was on top of him and then pushed at the Chargers player trying to get him off of Herbert. I didn't understand that whole thing

Heyward came across like a dirtbag. It's all right, he got pushed five yards into the endzone on the TD play right after.

He had some nice throws today.

You'd think they were playing in Pittsburgh.

Huh?   They were throwing the ball too much in the 4th quarter, and it nearly bit them in the ass.  As soon as they went back to the more 'conservative' running game... they took over the game and put it out of reach.

It was his first down calls that did it, put ‘em behind the sticks. That’s what he was talking about.

Herbert is 6'6 and it's 4th and inches and no QB sneak..

I want all the writers who usually dunk on coaches for not listening to the spreadsheets to acknowledge that terrible decision from Staley.

Chargers just blew a huge 4th quarter lead in Heinz field west.
