If the Eagles like a QB in the draft or find a good deal for a vet, I think they still pull the trigger. Hurts has been serviceable, but he isn’t showing franchise QB traits. He’s a very good back-up/spot starter.

Been a busy week. I am fine with this, one year he can hold down the fort. Hopefully we draft someone and Davion continues to emerge

Eagles draft order right now is #8, 11, and 16.  Giants would have the #6 and 7 picks -- but Gettleman will probably go off the reservation with those picks

FWIW -- Tankathon mock has the Eagles drafting Karlaftis (DE), Booth (CB), and Olave (WR) with those selections.  They also had the Eagles taking Brisker (S) in Round 2 and DeMarvion Overshown(LB) in Round 3.

Not what I'm saying and you know that.

Implicitly, it is.

But please elaborate.  Show me how consecutive bad records can lead to success.  Lions, Jags, Jets?

The Browns tried several times, they should be rolling by now.

He'd be an excellent backup for Lamar. They'd still have the running that their team is focused on but they'd take a few steps back from the passing but it's expected when you lose a starter

They took what was given in the passing game.

I'm not buying that.  Doesn't seem that the Saints are so foolish as to make the right side of the field easier for Hurts to throw the ball to.  Just doesn't make sense.

Browns had 11 wins last season didn't they? I think they won their first playoff game in decades

The thing with the veteran QB is I’m not sure there’s one to be had that’s realistic obtainable. Rodgers is not coming here. Frankly i think Denver is going to try to go all in on him. Tbh he should think about staying in GB. I think his road going to Denver or Vegas is going to be tougher due to the division having mahomes and herbert.

I think lurie and howie would love to get Russell Wilson. I think they’ll try everything to get Wilson. But i don’t see him coming here as he will prefer to go elsewhere. And he’s 33 so i think it’s a mistake. If they could actually do it and he was 3 years younger I’d be more for that move. Really i think he is likely going to want to go to Vegas or Denver. His wife would really want a market like Miami or NYC.

lastly you got watson. Who the hell knows what’s going on with him. If he avoids prison, he has a no trade clause and likely used it here and forces his way to Miami.

the veteran QB trade market has 3 great to very good QBs but i don’t see them getting any of them. The secondary QB market might be Jimmy G, carr, Winston, bridgewater, foles, cam Newton, dalton and Fitzpatrick. So that’s not an avenue you want to go down.

Agreed. A confident team believing in itself is worth so much more than draft position.

Sure.  But DieHard said one-and-done isn't good enough.  The Browns are a marginal playoff team right now.  Maybe they get a Giants-like run.

But they are not the championship caliber team that losing consistently would supposedly deliver.

Or Williams. And no thanks to JuJu, we have enough social media wannabe stars here already. And is that Rashard Higgins? No thanks to him too.

The throw to Sanders up the right sideline should have been an easy TD. Hurts throw was so bad the DB on THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FIELD was able to run across and knock it down. That's bad.

That was just a great play by the DB.

Lol. It certainly was. He should never have had a chance to make said play.

Yes.  AND it was a poorly thrown ball.  Both can be true.

What was that a 30 yard pass?

Sure it's deep but it's not a throw that shows hurts has the arm to make deep throws with velocity that can beat defenses.

Hurts doesn't have a cannon for an arm like Vick McNabb or Wentz.

He's not fitting passes into tight windows or consistently getting the ball deep.

How many 40+ air yard passes does he have?

If I were to say McNabb wasnt the most accurate passer but had a cannon for an arm no one argues they realize his limitations.

Why is it whenever somebody says something critical and obvious about hurts all the hurts huggers jump to defend him.

It's ok to say hurts has played well and still doesn't show the ability to push the ball down the field, both can be true.

That pass was about 48ish yards in the air.  That was a deep throw with velocity that beat the defense.

He is fitting the pass into tight windows.  I don't have an exact number but he does have a few 40+ air yard passes this season.

The "fans" in this thread are growing increasingly delirious with the unrealistic expectations of Hurts needing to be perfect on every throw every game the more and more that Hurts continues to develop, play well and win.  It has been clear as day all throughout the offseason that so many here were rooting against Hurts and did not want him to be the QB, no matter what he does.  And now we are seeing that to be the truth and his continues to play his way into being the QB again next year.

I actually think the Seahawks trade Russell Wilson to Denver, Vegas and sleeper team giants that hurts would make a ton of sense for what Pete wants to do. That said i don’t see the eagles dealing Hurts unless they acquire someone like Russ (highly unlikely) or draft a kid they love (who knows how they feel about any of these kids)

Would the division race be a thing if DAL loses at home to the Raiders on Thursday?

Lol Hurts would come screaming back after dealing with Hawks Oline

He definitely holds the ball too long

Even in Smith's catch and run across the middle he initially had Smith open over the middle yet he held the ball then rolled out made a more difficult throw on the move and while it ended being a positive play as Smith picked up a bunch of yac just make the simple play.

I've been pleased with the way hurts has played since Siri has decided to be a run focused offense and I still think there are more opportunities in the passing game that hurts is just missing , either holding the ball too long leaving pocket too early or not stepping up In it or just not pulling the trigger on plays that are there to made because he doesn't trust his arm.

I'm with the opinion that it's not sustainable in the long run, at some point he'll have to make big throws from the pocket on a consistent basis to have more success than a playoff exit.

Agree that Hurts holds the ball too long.  When he rolls out to the sidelines, the extended play do not give him better options and ends up throwing the ball away.  He also trusts his running more than his throws or receivers.  His high running number shows that tendency.  Siri put in more run plays with RBs helps the team winning games as well as Hurts not to do too much.

I was wondering yesterday what his contract looked like and when it was up. Looks like he was on the final year of his deal so good to make the move now. He's earned it.

He would have been a restricted free agent. Not sure why the rush to sign him or for him to sign.

If the throw had more velocity on it the DB wouldn't have had time to get there,

Like was said, the DB who made the play came clear across the field, a better throw with more velocity doesn't give the DB a chance to get to the ball and Sanders gets a TD.

There is a saying that in the NFL one cant out run the ball but hurts has a college arm going against nfl talent and that one throw is a perfect example of his limitations as a passer.

It wasn't though.  If the defender doesn't make a great play there that is a completed pass.  A poorly thrown ball is one that would not have been completed or would have been intercepted.

Lowie never got over missing on Russel Wilson.  That’s the entire reason they reached for Hurts in the first place.  They’ll never trade Hurts to the coach and franchise that developed Russel Wilson.

That's not what I'm saying either but you know that as well. We can have a talk about mediocre teams that never win a Super Bowl as well.

The last few times the Eagles picked top 10 they never ended up in purgatory but rebuilt.

Sorry, I just wanted to interrupt the argument and post this again.
