Tell it to Wilson, who takes far more punishment extending plays than Hurts takes running the ball.

Newton was 6'5, guys like that struggle to get low and present a big target to tacklers - no matter how big. Wentz is 6'5 240 and that didn't help him.

No offense, but the comparison between Hurts and Russell Wilson just doesn’t hold water.

For his career Wilson has run 827 times against 4,526 pass attempts — a 18.3% ratio

Hurts is 177 runs against 468 pass attempts, which is vastly higher — a 37.8% ratio

Wilson for his career has taken 414 sacks in 151 career games.  That’s less than 3 per game.  It’s an assumption to hold the opinion that Hurts has more or less tolerance to punishment.  Only time will tell for sure

Wilson has been an effective passer who can also run.  Hurts has been primarily a runner and is dependent on that skill to survive in the league to this point.

One of the great strengths of the 2017 Eagles was that they had a real killer instinct.  They never let up until the final gun sounded.  That is something this team could benefit from.

I have been looking for growth and progress this year...there are many indicators that the mental mistakes are becoming fewer and execution is getting better. I like the trajectory...the next step is learning how to win...hopefully, yesterday was a good growth lesson...

Wilson took an awful lot of punishment, and generally QBs get hurt more on sacks than scrambles, which is why veterans learn to throw it away.

WIlson holds onto the ball more than almost any other QB, and pays the price - 3 sacks a game, but that doesn't include all those QB hits as well that take a toll, and generally there's a lot more hits than sacks.

In today's game, with QBs able to slide, and with the instincts to get out of bounds or down, a running QB is in no more danger than he would be in the pocket. As a runner, he's watching the defenders, and can judge when he can avoid contact or should go down - as a passer his eyes are downfield, and he can't see if an OT has missed his block and he's about to get blindsided.

This was an amazing — and sad — moment for me to watch as a kid.

Hey Matt.  Good to see you.

You know what else this team could benefit from that the 2017 team had... a really good defense and a passing game.

I would love to have a great defense.  But this feels a lot like what I said in 2019 down the stretch with the Eagles offense. they were putting up points and productive but they were playing against these bad or mediocre teams. It was nice to see them do their job against those bad/mediocre teams. but you knew at the end of the day you it was more cause of opponent then the offense being really good. it was nice seeing the eagles defense play well but I’m really not impressed by siemian and an offense down their best weapon, down their second best weapon in Thomas, down their two starting tackles.

I want to see them do it against a good quarterback and good offense. They have yet to do that. And i don’t think it’s all Gannon’s fault. I think they lack talent at certain positions to be able to do everything he wants against better competition

There can be no debate that Hurts is categorized as a running qb, not a qb who can run.

Every time in the history of the NFL that a team has invested in a running qb, they have ultimately regretted it.

Is Hurts going to be the first in nfl history?

Yeah because he’s wolverine who’s indestructible.

I actually worry less about him getting hit and getting injured. I have more concerns that he’s running, tries to plant his foot to make a move and has a non-contact type of injury.

I converted this into a gif for y'all.  I'm sure you'll find plenty of uses for it.

My concern is that he never learns how to play in the pocket.

Also true. I was talking about more of him getting hurt from too many hits cause that seemed to be the discussion on here for a couple of pages

Running QBs get hurt.  Pocket QBs get hurt.  But, pocket QBs have protections... running QBs do not.

Even before it was confirmed you 100% could tell she was from DelCo

Andrew Thomas now has as many career receiving touchdowns as JJAW. And as many receptions as JJAW this year.

And the Giants leading rusher at the half time is...John Ross?
