I sent the following e-mail to Tommy Lawlor earlier today ... while I understand your thoughts about Siriani taking too long to adjust the Offense, I keep in mind that his two Guards right now are a rookie and a sophomore, both of whom were not starters when the season began.  Having some uncertainty about how Dickinson and Driscoll were going to perform is understandable, especially with Johnson missing three games and Mailata missing two.  The Raiders game was the first time that the starters were Mailata - Dickerson - Kelce - Driscoll - Johnson.  Your point still stands, but with a caveat.

My comment to Tommy is a variation on your comment above.  I agree with you that he did it to help the OL ... especially since he had a stable OL assembled for the first time in week 7.

Totally different take.  Sirianni was hired by an owner who wants his team to throw the ball.  Sirianni was given the opportunity to create the offense he's been waiting for his entire career.

It wasn't going to be run-based.  He need to prove to himself and ownership that he could create something that would work for a really good throwing QB.  Air-Sirianni arguably worked as he was able to scheme open WRs.  After that was established, I believed that they collectively moved towards the run game to further evaluate Hurts in what is now Ground-Sirianni.

And...he is doing an effective job running that offense as well.  I'm in on Nick.

It was frustrating post Super Bowl watching our offense under Doug. Predictable, boring, and just a cluttered mess in between the hash marks. This recent run especially has been such a breath of fresh air.

Apologies if already posted.

When you look at that play, in addition to the offensive execution by the Eagles, it is easy to see why the Saints were, until last week, the #1 run defense in the NFL.  For all the perfect blocking, there was a DB in correct position to limit the damage.  Against most teams, Howard would have gotten many, many more yards ... possibly even taken it to the house.

One factor in the run game may have been trading Ertz.

You'd think it would be easier to run behind a two TE attack, but that allowed teams to keep a base run defense on the field, and Ertz wasn't a good in-line blocker.

Now they go 1-1-3 and defenses have to go lighter, while Goedert is almost like a sixth lineman in the run game. So it creates more room on the second level when the OL creates holes.

When you have 3 WRs who can fly, instead of 4.68 (or worse at his age) Ertz, it changes the dynamic in the secondary, even if the WRs aren't that good, you can't let them get behind you.

CB will probably be a 2nd or 3rd rd pick, if Gannon is going heavy on zone, CB is a lower priority than safety. If you have good safeties, you can go with CBs with average speed but good hips and ball skills, and they're available later in the draft (think Asante Samuel).

I hope Gannon learned a lesson from the saints game.  With zone, the quick release routes are almost always available for a good QB.  It is really hard to be as aggressive as they were on Sunday if you are playing Zone.

I like Kelce in the background watching with his hands on his hips probably thinking, look at these kids

weird how depth perception and angles can make objects look small and large.  At the 28 second mark, Dickerson looks like a giant watching to 10 year olds roll around.

I can't argue with that approach.  How do you use Day Two picks (44th and 75th currently), more Defense?  Do you wait until Day Three to address Center?

I think it really depends how they view Jack Driscoll.  If he's a starter then your OL next season would be Johnson-Driscoll-Seumalo-Dickerson-Mailata.  I believe Dickerson's play at LG means Seumalo gets a season to show whether he's Kelce's heir-apparent or not at C.  If the Eagles still see Dickerson as a C then Seumalo goes back to his normal LG spot and the starting 5 stay the same.  Brooks as a June 1 designation saves $13.5M against the cap.

I'd love to keep Andre Dillard as depth next season but I don't think you can have a first round pick riding the bench for another year; I think if Howie gets a 3rd round pick trade offer he'll take it, to give Dillard a chance to start somewhere -- he seems to do that for guys where he can.  A 2nd round pick would be better, obviously.  The Eagles can use a Day 3 pick on OL to groom a prospect for the future.

If it were me I'd draft an impact LB prospect (Christian Harris or Overshown) if they're on the board at #44 -- if not I take whichever I missed in Round 1 (DT or CB)

If Nick Sirianni told me he needs another WR in the draft I'd tell him no you don't -- you've got Devonta as WR1, Goedert at TE1 as your 2nd target .... and it's your job to make Jalen Reagor a viable 3rd target in the passing game.  If you can't then Quez is that guy (or a veteran FA WR).

Miles Sanders has served as a cautionary tale against drafting RB on Day 1 or 2; he's just not available enough and there will be another Gainwell available with a 4th/5th round pick.

Meanwhile, Hurts is now #17 in QBR, #17 in ANY/A.

Wentz is 12th and 13th.

Mac Jones 19th/22nd

1st rd picks below Hurts

Burrow 21/14

Tannehill 14/27

Mayfield 27/19

D Jones 26/26

Darnold 29/30

Lawrence 30/29

Wilson 32/34

Goff 33/28

Fields 34/33

Looks about right since sacks count against QBR, and designed runs boost QBR.
Sacks crush Burrow, Tannehill, and Fields, short completed passes hurt Jones, Tannehill, and especially Lawrence, which is why Hurts QBR was 27th for the first 6-7 games.

Goff and Darnold are garbage, Daniel Jones is a Dollar Store Eli, Baker is Jeff George without the arm but has the .10 brain.
Wilson was taken 2nd, but wasn’t the 2nd best QB, he’s more in line with the 2022 draft class except for his height. I’d take Corral over him all day.

I told my friend the other day i don’t think the world will ever be ready again for the cowboys to win a super bowl. So I’d be hoping for the meteor as well. Although I’m not opposed of the world just self imploding to save us from seeing it.

Question, if Tom Brady never happened, would Phillip Rivers have won a Super Bowl?

Your bolded starters look like 2023 to me ... unless Kelce retires.  I sincerely hope the 2022 starters are Johnson-Driscoll-Kelce-Dickerson-Mailata.  Seumalo and Brooks and Herbig and a drafted Center behind those starters ... although your Brooks scenario does make some Cap sense.  Toth, Opeta and Anderson for deep depth.  I agree that Dillard gets traded away,

I also agree with your WR approach.  It is too early to give up on Reagor and/or Watkins.

I’ve never been a baker guy. I really didn’t love him as the first overall pick. I wouldn’t have taken any of those QBs in the top 5 and i was a huge josh Allen fan.

Actually have a friend that’s a browns fan that tried to tell me for the past couple years baker was better than wentz. Not that wentz is unbelievable but i much rather put my eggs in that basket than baker. i think physical talent wentz is better and i think had a higher upside if he reached it.

I'm old enough to remember people saying Landon Dickerson was bad in one half against SF coming off the bench 9 months after an ACL tear, without any training camp. What a bust.

He didn't look great early on.  I was one of his biggest critics and at those times what I said was I need to A. see more from him to justify the pick and B. see him stay healthy.

He's a stud if he's healthy.

Hmmm that’s tough. I wonder how many SBs would Peyton manning have and would he be considered the goat if Brady didn’t happen.

Maybe. The 06 team was stacked and would have beaten Chicago. Not sure if they would have beaten the Colts though.

Or that C/G wasn't a priority position worth taking in the second round

I don't remember many people saying that. The biggest concern was the two knee injuries thinking he took an unnecessary gamble when there were other good players there. Honestly, I'm glad it worked cause he seems like a great kid, but I'm still not sure I love the mindset with so many blown picks.

It worked well...NOW it is the best pick...but they have so many holes it's important to hit on their picks not hit home runs every single time. I think that's why we don't have Jefferson even though Doug gets blamed for it.
