So excited for my first thanksgiving of my life without Turkey this year.

I doubt this is or ever was his gameplan

I think it's clear this offense and defense had no idea what it wanted to be and is just finding out.

When you are averaging 22 attempts a game, and not throwing to chunks of the field, that is pretty easy to do.

Not throwing interceptions in the NFL is anything but easy.

While I threw money away going to the Flyers game Penn State lifted my spirits by maintaining their grip on stupid and signing a mediocre coach for another 10 years.  Awesome.  10 more years of beating Rutgers and Villanova while losing to any division 1 team that has a pulse.  75 million guaranteed.  Beautiful idiots in Happy Valley.

Semantics but I don’t think they spend all OTA’s and TC with 2 different joint practices and had no idea what they "wanted” it to be. They realized what they wanted wasn’t going to work and they had to become what they needed it to be.

I live on the west coast, so it’s pretty uncommon to find other Eagles fans out here and when I do I always get excited and make a point to say Go Birds to them. They usually say it back or throw a wave. Saw a guy today wearing an Eagles hat, I told him Go Birds, he gave me a weird look and didn’t say anything back.

was incredibly disappointing. I hate fans like that

I live in South Jersey, only about a half hour away from Philadelphia. A few days after we won the Super Bowl, I chatted with a supermarket employee who was as excited as I was about the victory. (I can only assume the conversation was triggered when he saw my Eagles attire.) It was like we were instant best buddies. About a year later, I casually said "Go Eagles" to him as I walked past him down the aisle and he acted like he had no clue what I was even talking about. It's strange.

I don't buy that at all.  It was clear from the start that the coaching staff was a bit out of its depth and had no real lead veteran assistants on the staff outside of Stoutland who seems to stay in his lane.  Defense has played the most basic predictable defense for most of the season to only in recent weeks start to blitz and change things up.  The offense was all over the place from half to have for the first half of the season on what it was trying to do with inexplicable period where it complete ignored trying to run the ball with the RBs.

I think it predictably took this very young coaching staff across the board a good chunk of the season to start getting its bearings.

Also this talk of they had to become what they needed to become and not what they wanted to do is straight nonsense.  Either you better have the best scheme ever to be introduced to football or you should be building your scheme and how you play around the skillset of your players.  That is exactly what BB does.  HIs teams have done nothing but adapt and change how they play year to year and it has worked.  Same thing with Andy Reid and his offenses over the past 2 decades.

Ok then. They went from over 75% pass to over 75% run because of no reason other than inexperience. Sure.

Yeah over 75% pass isn't good no matter who your QB is.  It was bad coaching.  It was inexperience showing for someone who has never called plays before in his career.  He has adjusted and is now calling an offense to the strength of his players and is having an increased level of success doing so.  That is what you should do as a coach, build your schemes around the strengths of your players.

Yeah. Though maybe veteran assistant and run game coordinator Stout didn‘t stay in his lane at all.. I mean..

They aren’t just playing better. They were utter garbage just a few weeks ago and now they’re putting up historical numbers.

Even in 2013, don’t remember the turnaround being this drastic.

Here are a couple of factors that have contributed ... 1) it wasn't until week 7 that the current O-line played together for the first time.  2) Prior to that the O-Line personnel were a revolving door, with four of the five starters missing time.  3) The Defensive Coordinator stopped trying to fit the players into his desired defensive scheme, but instead adjusted that scheme to better capitalize/match the players' skills and vulnerabilities.

You sorta mean a QB that’s18th out of 50 QB’s  in passing yards? Except that every QB under Hurts in yards has played less games, lots above him as well.
It could be Hurts being 28th out of 38 qualifying QB’s in Comp%.

I hate to burst anyones bubble but Hurts has not dramatically improved this year in his passing, he still throws late, doesn’t see open receivers, or soft tosses passes.
Running the ball in 2021 is vastly different than running it just a few years ago, defenses aren’t built to stop it, but that doesn’t mean the Eagles can keep this 65-35 or 60-40 run to pass ratio for an entire season. Howard basically lasted 4 games, Sanders is just about as fragile, as he is so at some point Hurts is gonna have to win some games with his passing. He hasn’t done that since Atlanta with an ok performance against Carolina.

I disagree. Hurts has thrown great passes every game. But we aren‘t ready to come into the season a fresh team with new coaches that barely played together and ONLY throw the ball.

For that S— we need three Smiths. And even doing THAT he looked improved passing, hit more targets.

NOW we go into games against enemies that know we ran all over multiple teams hard. And that‘s hard go stop! To throw the ball now is a totally different story.

Not like Smith was 2 for 18 yards, hes not going to embarrass every CB he faces. He clearly won a few of those routes

Smitty got em'.

He was not ok against Carolina.  He was bad.  Really bad.   I was at that game.   It was ugly offensively, for both teams.  The only thing that saved us was the fact that Darnold was worse.   Carolina had 4 turnovers to our 3.  And the timely blocked punt saved us, or it would have been a loss.   But make no mistake, Hurts was terrible passing the ball.  He was 22/37 198 yards and 1 interception, 0 TD’s.  Passer rating of 62.7, second worse of the year for him.   He didn’t win that game with his passing.  They won it because the other team sucked worse.

I think that was the game Carolina realized the Darnold experiment was over.

How about those Flyers! It might be time to blow it up.

RE: Smith vs. Lattimore

Our pass-protection was awesome on Sunday. All our WRs had lots of time to get open. If the WR isn't open within 2.5 seconds, it's a W for the CB. Smith's biggest play was a crosser from one side of the field to the other. Did he run a great route? Sure, but in normal circumstances the ball is going somewhere else.
