So in December/January all of a sudden, the following happens?

-G is no longer useless

-TK reverts to 2  years ago

-Provorov becomes a top pair defensemen

-Sanheim no longer blows

-they become a much faster skating team

-their power play comes to life

-Hart is no longer overrated

Shall I keep going or is this enough?

Good point.  Only a year away from being a year away!

It’s too early in the year and too early in the day talk get in depth about the flyers

Right, only when they play Wentz. C'mon man!

Cripes. I’ve never once said that, but it’s accurate to state that Wentz has been fortunate enough to have bad throws dropped that kept his interception percentage at such a low number..

For the record, I’m a big proponent of the that stat "turnover worthy plays.” A QB — any QB — being fortunate enough to have a bad pass dropped by the defense shouldn’t be chalked up to "it happens to everyone.” That’s just lazy.

RE: Smith vs. Lattimore

Our pass-protection was awesome on Sunday. All our WRs had lots of time to get open. If the WR isn't open within 2.5 seconds, it's a W for the CB. Smith's biggest play was a crosser from one side of the field to the other. Did he run a great route? Sure, but in normal circumstances the ball is going somewhere else.

But there were several routes where Smith toasted Lattimore and didn't get a look. It goes both ways.  Smith should have scored when Hurts was late on the throw and the safety came over to push him out of bounds.  He beat Lattimore cleanly on that play.

Edit:. Even on that long crosser you mentioned, Smith won immediately and got Lattimore spun around.  It waant just the play design, he was open immediately

There were also a few where it was basically a throwaway rep (Hurts scrambles, there was a safety shaded to Smith, the play is one the other side of the field, etc) and I wouldn't have even graded either guy.

I think it was a legit even matchup.  Im still very happy with Smith and cant wait to see his rematch with Diggs.

Smitty got em'.

This really strips context. A WR screen is more about the play call then what Smith did. The same with Smith’s longer catch.

Those are schemed plays. Smith didn’t line up across from him and beat him. He had a lot of help.

Not to mention the amount of traffic Lattimore had to work through. It was a great call by Sirianni. We should see more of that when we face man coverage.

Look at that crosser again, though. Smith turned Lattimore around.   I agree about context, but I think that argument works both ways and at the end of the day it was a wash

So excited for my first thanksgiving of my life without Turkey this year.

Why no turkey? Just curious - I am a pescetarian so I haven't eaten turkey in like 4 years.

Any time I’ve watched Lattimore play he strikes me as being quite overrated; he and Humphrey have been the only decent CB in that supposed strong CB draft, though.

Smith caught 4 balls in 6 targets for 61 yards.  I don’t think they were matched up every play, but it’s fair to say both players did their jobs.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I wonder what number of Mahomes passes earlier this year were a result of bouncing off his receivers hands? There was a ton from what I remember.

IMHO a turducken is a good way to ruin three birds at once.

Yeah, he beat him early (although the WR traffic would have been a natural rub if Lattimore played it better). Hurts could’ve delivered it early for a 1st. Then Smith had to clear the LB, and he got it about as late as possible but for a likely bigger gain.

If Hurts had thrown it early, he would've either led Smith right into that LB who would've crushed him, or the LB could've made a play on the ball for a potential INT. Hurts actually showed great patience on that play and trusted his pocket.

Smith did fine. Funny that he got that OPI given we’ve plenty of experience this season with how the refs are calling the picks - and he is a very heady player.

That’s if you wait a beat to late - Hurts throws it on the break, it’s first down but not much more.

Actually, it was five out of six, but he could only get one foot down at the goal line.
I completely agree that both did their jobs.

Looking ahead just a bit....but next year's FA RB's

Just quickly, I'd have interest in Fournette, Conner, Mack, D'Ernest Johnson and Edmonds.

I was also thinking about our friends this week, the Giants. I wonder if you could entice them to part with Saquon. They've exercised the 5th year option on him, so he won't be a FA until 2023. And I'm usually very against giving an RB a 2nd contract. But he's one of the rare exceptions where his talent may justify a contract that protects us from him getting injured. It would also be kind of funny to have Sanders backing him up again. It's extremely unlikely we land Saquon, but if the Giants clean house from the top down, he may be available for cheaper than you'd expect.

All-22 still not up. 🤬

So you want to wait another year and half to get an already cooked RB who is super injury prone?
