Nah, lets over evaluate everything. I would also like to add the "teams that got lucky just at the right time to win a super bowl" category.  BTW I do disagree with you about the "turnover worthy plays" but most of this is just in good fun from my end.

Ertz is still good, but given how we want to play, yes.

Our offense got better once Ertz left...

Yeah but they also cannot stand the heat so they’d keep out of the kitchen

If you look at the impact of the Ertz trade, I'd say more different than better.

But one could make the argument that we can run more effectively with Goedert and Stohl than Ertz and Goedert.

While true, that had more to do with scheme than Ertz. We were still throwing the ball 35 times as to like 5 run plays. I think the point that we really only have 2 reliable targets is valid.

The QB pulling the trigger is still a pedestrian thrower of the football.  For long term success he would need to find accuracy and consistency in that regard.

ertz fits what the Cardinals want to do more than what the Eagles have to do in order to have success on offense. The Cardinals even with colt McCoy last week threw the ball 44 times. He had 8 receptions for 88 yards and 2 tds last week. In 5 games with the cardinals he has 22 receptions for 269 yards and 3 touchdowns. That would be on pace for a 17 game season of 75 receptions, 915 yards and 10 tds. And really he joined the team midway through the season and probably doesn’t know the playbook as well and 3 games with colt mccoy at QB.

That’s the type of offense they want to be (maybe not 44 passing attempts but somewhere in the 35 pass attempts range). They want to throw the football and get down the field throwing the football. they can win in a multitude of ways because they can also run it with James Conner and Chase Edmonds when he’s healthy and win a game that way. But ideally their philosophy is the most success they’ll have when Kyler Murray is healthy is getting the ball down the field.  Zach Ertz fits that offense. His weakness is exposed with the type of offense the eagles have morphed into. His run blocking is not good and now we don’t throw the ball enough to fully maximize his pass receiving abilities as we are averaging 20 pass attempts per game since the lions game.

I agree with what he's saying but does Hurts even look for WR2/3 or TE2?

Sirianni had no update about Brooks. He was pressed on if there was a set back or anything and he just kept saying no new update.

It’s a copycat league so what Miami did on that Thursday night game I suspect a lot of teams are going to try to use that formula against lamar going forward. As bad as Miami has been that was a great gameplan. I’m curious to see how lamar responds to it the next time he plays and sees it cause he didn’t play against the bears on Sunday. The browns have the personnel to run a similar gameplan that the dolphins had.

At this point they might not want him back.

Driscoll is performing and improving every game, and according to Caplan is Stouland's favourite pupil.

If brooks returns this year i suspect it’s not until after the bye week.

Depends on where they are in his progressions.  He does seem to be doing better there than before when he does stay in the pocket, but if he still has problems going through his progressions it's not ideal to only have 2 guys you can realistically make the first/second read.

Yeah, not slighting Ertz in the least. I thought Solak's point that Hurts was a TE2 and WR2 away was bizarre.

I'd say based on the above Lamar Jackson is not only a bit more accurate than Hurts throwing, he's also been much more prolific with his arm.  The attempts and completions are about 3X Hurts due to playing longer, but the passing TDs are way, way higher.  As Solak noted, Jackson is also a more dynamic runner, if only a bit better YPC -- 6.0 to 5.5

The cautionary tale for me is the lack of playoff success for the Ravens.  1-3 record over 3 seasons with Lamar starting.  Got a win over TEN last year but then got shut down 17-3 by the Bills.  Playoff defenses will shut the run down when they have to.

There is a ceiling to what the Eagles are running with Hurts; it's not a huge concern with this season's expectations -- but how deep can you go in the playoffs once the team is ready to contend??

Smith was open on that play at his break.  Hurts has to throw that immediately- he ends up lofting a back foot toss to Smith after he has already run 20 yards across the field.  If Hurts throw on time could have been a big gain.

Nope. The throw was on time. He had cleared the defenders.

Not the way I would have preferred the offense to be built, but I'll take this over tanking every single time.

Really enjoying the tough running game. My only concern is other teams KNOW what Hurts is doing and what the Eagles are doing, so they can adjust and shut the running game and Hurts down. What gave me hope concerning that, is the #1 D in the NFL knew it was coming, and couldn't stop it. Can the Eagles sustain this type of offense, with the league adjusting to it? I hope so.
