Cracks me up that all of a sudden people think we are good and will win the div, lol.

We beat a Saints team with a 3rd string QB, and BTW we didnt steam roll them, they almost came back to beat us with as people say a non functioning offense.

To be fair, this Cowboys team is not good either.

But agreed, we can easily lose this weekend. Folks seem to be assuming we win.

Why not go for another WR1? They can be found in round 2, with our new WR coaching / scouting

Eh let's pump the brakes there. We drafted 1 good WR, who was also the Heisman winner.

I know I'm going to get crucified for it, but I really wouldn't mind taking a look at Jamison Crowder in FA. He's still fairly young, shouldn't cost a ton and has been a solid player when he's actually had a QB.

Would instantly be a big improvement to our slot.

Yup, he would be a pretty big slot upgrade. I'd rather Christian Kirk, younger and a very good returner, but I'd settle for Crowder.

I think beating WAS will be a challenge - but the defense should be able to withstand NYG x 2 and NYJ, right? The offense is what it is… which is consistent. The playoff talk is based on the lack of resistance moving forward, Methinks.

This is a trap game for sure.  Giants stink; lousy QB, type of team we have been beating.  But, division game, on the road, and Giants probably feeling a bit embarrassed.   Would not be surprised by a close game.  Definitely should expect their best effort, some nastiness, trying hard to really lay a lick on Hurts.  Eagles are a better team, not much much better.  I think we win and hope it is a demoralizing mauling.

Wholeheartedly agree, but I think he stays with the Cards.

I have the ability to look forward. The whole "I need to see 3 years of proof before I can decide" sounds good, but anyone can do it.

I like Quez a lot and think he's valuable as a field stretcher. But he has been like a 2-3 reception per game receiver for us. If we think a true WR 2 is available for us I'm not going to be upset about them taking one.

Now to be clear they 100% need to address DL and DB early in the draft (and ideally LB too). But WR isn't that far behind IMO.

I'm OK with this route too.

Quez would get more action if we had a real quarterback

Ummmm

PFN draft site said that this QB class is going to see prospects fall further than expected. I still think Pickett and Corall go 1st, maybe even Willis.

I don't think Lowie is going to draft one of them in the first, but say a guy like Howell or Ridder is available day 2. Do you take one in the 2nd? 3rd?

It's a moot point if Lowie trades for Wilson as is expected by some, but in any case I think Lowie will add to the QB factory.

A little history... Detroit has had a Thanksgiving since 1934, the year they moved to Detroit.  So literally, the Lions have played a game on Thanksgiving since their founding (with a few weird exceptions), and they did so to rousing success early in the history.   When the TV age of the NFL came around the league wanted to add a second host city to the lineup, and no team wanted to do it... except the Dallas Cowboys.  In 1966, the Cowboys accepted that and rode it to marketing success and was one of the things that led to the America's Team... helped along by the images of Landry and Starbach.

It would be horrible for the NFL to rip away generations of tradition from families who plan their Thanksgiving dinners around the games for those two cities, when they did it when no one else really wanted it.  Now it is a huge cash cow, and the NFL might be able to ring a few extra bucks out of the game by putting more premier matchups on during the afternoon (doubtful, honestly, as those families that put the game on will do so regardless of who is playing at 12:30 and 4:30... at least in this country), but it would be a huge slap in the face of those fan bases, and frankly, as much as I despise the Dallas Cowboys, I will defend them having the Thanksgiving game to the last.  Detroit fans have so little going for them in their sad history, to rip this one little light from them would be a travesty... and I'll be honest... if the NFL ever did change that, I might give up on the NFL for good, because they would be putting the almighty dollar ahead of the loyal fans.

But I feel bad for all those Dallass fans that don’t get to travel on Thanksgiving.   Seems only fair that the game be on the road in some place like Green Bay every other year.   Funny thing is, my friends that are Texan fans and were Oilers fans, like that they can go deer hunting the week of Thanksgiving and the Dallas fans are tied to their game.  Trans-Pecos mule deer season starts today.

If Hurts starts in 2022, our cap situation is actually fine. Our QBs would be making a combined 3M.

According to Spotrac, despite the huge $62 million of dead money, the Eagles have the second best Cap situation for this season (behind only the Jaguars) with $19.5 million of Cap space to carry over into 2022.  Right now Spotrac has our 2022 Cap space at $32.8 million (including the $19.5 million rollover) with 48 players under contract. The notable players not under contract for 2022 are TJ Edwards, Alex Singleton, and Hassan Ridgeway on Defense;  Boston Scott, Jordan Howard, and Nate Herbig on Offense; and Rick Lovato on Special Teams.  None of those are big dollar contracts.

They just extended TJ Edwards a week or two ago.

For the offense the Eagles are running they only need a third target.  Smith was drafted #10 overall to be WR1.  Goedert will be making $14M per season to be the #2 target in the offense.  Those two would ideally have a high volume; the third target would be a Torrey Smith-type reliable deep option to stretch the field.

Reagor will still get 2022 to show whether he can or cannot be that player — for better or worse

Watkins will also get 2022 to show whether he can or cannot be that player — for better or worse

I mean good for you. I'm personally going to have to see more than 1 good WR drafted in the past 11 years before I have confidence.

With Hurts at QB I'm not sure people realize how similar to the Ravens offense the Eagles are:

Ravens -- 316 rush attempts (Jackson 106 of those)

Eagles -- 338 rush attempts (Hurts 114 of those)

Rushing yards BAL -- Jackson 639 yards, Freeman 272, Murray 247

Rushing yards PHI -- Hurts 618 yards, Sanders 394, Howard 274

Passing yards per game BAL -- Jackson 272

Passing yards per game PHI -- Hurts 210

It's damn hard to find a WR group with this type of QB.  Since 2018 when Lamar Jackson was drafted the Ravens have also drafted at WR:

Jaleel Scott, Jordan Lasley (2018), Marquise Brown, Myles Boykin (2019), Devin Duvernay, James Proche (2020), Rashod Bateman, Tylan Wallace (2021).  Eight WR drafted in 4 years to pair with Lamar Jackson.  Hollywood Brown has over 2,000 career receiving yards so far; the other 7 guys have combined for less than 1,300 yards between them.  A lot of wasted resources spent at a position group that just doesn't see the ball a lot from Jackson.  The Ravens pass offense works best when they force-feed the ball to Mark Andrews at TE.

I said it yesterday; IMO Jackson is a more efficient and more prolific passer than Hurts -- at least to this point.  If the Ravens ample investment at WR has been mostly wasted to this point with Jackson, I'm not sure what drafting more WR will do for the Eagles.

It's almost as if the Ravens have drafted bad WRs.

No, that couldn't be it.  That franchise has always been known for drafting good WRs.

Well actually he's a running back playing QB so he sucks.  He can't score on second half drives because teams adjust at half time, well he does score on second half drives now but it is all only garbage time.  Okay, so it's not all garbage time but even if he does score in the second half now he also has thrown incomplete passes in EVERY game this season.  That can't be refuted.  He continually throws incomplete passes in every game.  You just can't have that. We need to get a QB in here that will never throw an incomplete pass or we will never win anything, except for the games we are winning but we would win a lot more if we had a QB in there that wasn't Hurts!

Carson Strong is my guy in this class.  I wouldn’t mortgage anything for him…I’m not really supportive of going all in on any 21 year old and forcing their opportunity.

But late 1st and any time 2 or early 3…I like his tools.

So his 61.6% completion percentage is not because his throws are off-target ... but really late??  I'd be curious to see Eagles drop % if this is the case

Looking at Joel Buschbaum's Draft Pick tiers listed below, with some poetic license I get the following levels of players. The first six categories all apply to starting players, and the first three of those categories and the sixth are pretty easy to assign player names to, but "Quality" and "Solid" are a bit harder to differentiate.

Hall of Famer
Franchise QBs
Pro Bowler
Quality
Solid
Marginal
Key Backup
Marginal Backup
Special Teamer
Practice Squad
Bust

If you look at the 2017 Super Bowl Eagles team, what category do you assign each player to?

QB Carson Wentz*
RB LeGarrette Blount
WR Nelson Agholor
WR Alshon Jeffery
WR Torrey Smith
TE Zach Ertz*
LT Halapoulivaati Vaitai
LG Stefen Wisniewski
C Jason Kelce+
RG Brandon Brooks*
RT Lane Johnson*+

LDE Vinny Curry
LDT Timmy Jernigan
RDT Fletcher Cox*
RDE Brandon Graham
LLB Mychal Kendricks
