Whatever. I don't even know what the question was any more. In any event, the trade of three draft picks was, unsurprisingly, from Draft Day.

Exactly right, Hurts is completing 12-13 a game since they started running. Smith and Goedert getting 9-10 of those, you can’t draft a WR high and hope he gets 3-4.

Do we know how many of Hurts’ 18 (!) rush attempts were called runs? I think there is room for another receiver on the team… he even might be on the roster now.  I expect with a good run game, that Hurts should do better than 13/24 when he does throw - and that their should be some shot plays available as well. I can think it… but will I see it?

Never said it wasn't

This is my concern as well.  It's great that the Eagles are pounding teams with the run and winning 3 of 4, but I'd feel even better if the QB was more efficient in the passing game.

Apparently that's not important any more. We went from a passing league to a college offense league over night

Eagles 27

Giants 0

Boston Scott scored two TD’s.

Joe Judge might play 11 guys in the box to prevent us from running over his D because he’s tough and he never gives up. Should be some opportunities in the passing game…

It's important but ruuning a lot is obviously what we have to be to be competitive.   Can't be competitive passing even 30 times a game.

From Bo Wulf's The Athletic article ... an interesting take.

Playoffs or bust? The Eagles’ five-step plan to a successful finish to the 2021 season

5. Answer some lingering roster questions

This is more about the big picture than making the playoffs, but there are some players on the roster who are worth evaluating as the Eagles head toward the offseason. This is the difficult balance the Eagles are forced to figure out with players like Davion Taylor. Reps are gold. Taylor was only going to improve by playing, but he also had to earn his way onto the field. He ended up doing that and taking significant steps forward over the course of that earned playing time before suffering a knee injury against the Saints. There are more players like him.

Is Zech McPhearson good enough to compete for a starting job at cornerback next year? Can Epps be a starting safety? Is Derek Barnett worth re-signing this offseason? Is Jalen Reagor useful at all? Are Jack Stoll and Tyree Jackson good enough to fill out the tight end stable moving forward? Is Jack Driscoll capable of replacing Brooks long-term?

Some of those questions are more pressing than others, but the Eagles should hope to have a firm grasp on what the roster is capable of before embarking on an offseason likely to chart the course for the franchise’s future.

@LeanMeanGM

Eagles - 32

Giants - 15

Bonus - Hurts over 300 yards passing.

Why? Because why not.

We are mixed up.  I was still referring to the Kevin Costner movie Draft Day.  No idea about the Yellowstone stuff.  Guessing the one gif?

11 designed runs/RPOs and 7 scrambles (including 1TD) by my count.  Of course, in a bunch of situations outside of the pocket where I expected him to run he threw on the move - which helps explain why his passing % is so mediocre. He’s got to learn to settle down - because he’s much better throwing from a solid platform. The pass protection seemed good - it was kind of depressing in the 2Q with about 5 minutes left as it seemed like the OL would hold the pocket indefinitely but the clock went off in Hurts’ head and he took a minimal gain to the left (I think the WRs were milling around on the right side of the field for good reason, but not very effectively).

Been thinking about it lately... what's the best case scenario with Hurts?

IF... the defense can be built for real, with legitimate playmakers, not just guys out there that are hoping the opponent screws up... and can actually become a defensively dominant team...

And... they can find another power back to pair with Howard... they could build this team into a juggernaut running team with a strong defense to keep the game close... and with Siposs kicking the way he is, the ST seems to be a strength, at least in terms of kicking, if not returning (which is currently terrible).

Then all Hurts would need to do is become that efficient passer that can utilize play action and his legs to move the chains.   It is not my preferred method to build the team, but this is the shortest path to contention.  BUT... it means that the team has to get off to a good start to be in a good spot each week, because it wouldn't be built to come from behind.

That's the best case scenario... Hurts somehow learns how to play from the pocket and is called upon to pass about 2 dozen times a game, and run about 3 dozen... and shorten the game overall.  Not sure...

@LeanMeanGM Eagles 5 TDs = 35 points versus Giants 1 TD + 1 FG = 10 points

Just my perception as of right now:

McPhearson -- no, not yet

Epps -- no

Barnett -- hell no

Reagor -- yes, but even I'm growing impatient

Stoll/Jackson -- not sure, but I sure hope so.

Driscoll -- yes, I believe

Hurts is 0-4 in games he passes for more than 300

I'll second this, especially the hell no on Barnett.

I just put up an RPO that ended with Hurts running. Here's why it worked.

Same strong left with Stoll and Goedert together.

Goedert and Dickerson block down, Mailata and Kelce pull. Your basic OZ beautifully blocked.

Goedert has the DE, Stoll has the OLB, Mailata has the CB (who is in fear of his life), and Kelce has a free run up the alley with Sanders behind him.

Kelce gives he OLB a shot in passing and zeroes in on the safety.

Kelce has a perfect angle on the safety and Sanders has the lane. Stoll has put his man on the ground.

Runs like this are murder on a defense. They wreck a defense more effectively than a pass for the same yardage. NO will sweat this play for the rest of the game.

I used to think he was a passable starter, has he regressed? If he was put on the injury report today and scratched for Sunday… I don’t think I’d be concerned at all.

You and I agree on McPherson and Barnett and Stoll/Jackson . I hope they take two DEs in Day1/Day2 of the Draft, although I don't know how strong the DE class is.

I don't have enough data on Epps to have an informed opinion.

Reagor (and Watkins) should be given another year.

I'm all in on Driscoll
