BTW I was pretty vocal when we drafted Mailata with a pick that I thought should be used for someone that had actually played football. I'm here to confess that I was dead wrong on that one.

Am I the only one who doesn’t like the 3-4 looks? Graham at the 5 tech. Kerrigan played some 5 technique. They were getting gashed out of that.

I agree that Gannon was more concerned with defending the pass, which we saw the Rams do tonight too, but it seems like a weird, unnecessary misuse of personnel. I thought Atlanta was gonna be on their way to 200+ on the ground.

They were gashed because the OLB on the back side didn't stay home. Period.

Hurts splits:

Completion percentage, QB rating, Y/A, etc all increased in the second half.

More positives.

Fair play to you for putting your hand up on that one bud. We all get things wrong and also right. I tend to be wrong a lot more than I'm right. 😁

Said it on the Mailata thread, he played unbelievable....think about it.  He has been playing football for like 3 years now, and that extension is going to end up being a bargain.  He eviscerated that poor CB on that kick out block.  When you watch them line up, he makes all the other offensive linemen look tiny.  Also remember, Jason Peters didn't start out as an offensive lineman, he was actually a Tight End.  My point, just because Mailata didn't start out as an Offensive Lineman, well....that doesn't mean he won't be one of the best.  Also on the note regarding JP, he should not be playing football any more.  He looked pathetic in the Chicago game.....which is sad.

Agree, but I don't think we should discount that they were a not so good team. I'm anxious to see how we do going forward , but very glad we looked good yesterday.

The two things that stood out to me about that game were that they were well-prepared and well-coached...  those are things that you should be able to replicate, regardless of the opponent...  this team will lose games because there are just better teams in the league, and if injuries crop up our depth will be exposed...  but I was pretty impressed with both Sirianni and Gannon...

There's no seats left on that bus.  Very few, if any, got that one right.  I thought he was a huge novelty and thought he had a better chance to truck people at the goal line with the ball in his hands than play LT.

I wasn't upset that they just a draft pick on him. I mean it was what a seventh round pick? Those picks are fliers anyway. But I did not think he was actually going to develop in to a starter. I mean hell I think a good result would have been just a decent back up.

Definitely impressed with pretty much everyone yesterday. Including Hurts. He played exactly like I want him to. Did some running but got out of bounds or down before taking hits. Seemed to see the field well and looked to pass when he would scramble. Those are some things that might go out the window against better opponents going forward. But I'm as happy as I can be at this point and yes the team looked better prepared then they have in a long time.

Now if Hurts can continue to prove me wrong I'll be pretty happy to be wrong on that one too. If we somehow make the playoff with him at the helm, I will buy and wear his jersey. Actually on second thought maybe I shouldn't.

Feels good to have a win on a Monday morning.

Depends on the reason for their "fatness". If they are fat because they are lazy then no they should (for their own health) not be told it's okay that they are fat. (btw you can be over weight some and still be in decent shape). If they have some mental or physical disorder then yes they should be supported and helped as much as possible.

Just another example of why you can't judge someone based on their physical appearance.

It’s a fine line.  I’m all for encouraging people to be happy and comfortable with their bodies while feeling attractive, but at some point we are also supporting/encouraging an obesity epidemic that is horrible for individual and population health.

It’s one thing to tell girls they don’t need to look like anorexic models, but it’s another to celebrate obesity.

That was the MOST impressive part of yesterday to me.  They ran a safe, yet effective, scheme on both sides of the ball that didn't expose anyone to undue risk.  They put the ball in the hands of playmakers where they best could be utilized and let the young players get established.  Combine limited mistakes with no turnovers and the Eagles have a good recipe for many games.  The game was never bigger than the coaching and it showed yesterday.  There will be a time when they have to step outside of that and get more risky.  That's when we really see how ready they are.

As an additional note.  For all of the BS about Sirianni's selection and demeanor from the fans and media, he definitely stood head and shoulders over Arthur Smith (the one time board favorite).

A 7th round pick for that potential upside was a no brainer. I loved the pick. If we used a 6th I would have been happy.

It’d be interesting to see what would have happened with Mailata if he were drafted by a Jags or Lions. Luckily for him the Eagles are very good at developing O-Lineman.

He looked like a much smarter player yesterday than ever before.  The fact that he got down and out of bounds versus taking hits is a big step forward.

Yep.  One of my biggest concerns with Hurts, other than his passing limitations, is him taking shots.  He seemed sudden and decisive.

His decisions and predilection for running were perfect yesterday.  No bad runs when he should have been passing.

He needs to show pocket presence and an ability to push the ball downfield with a higher degree of difficulty though.  But the flow of yesterday’s game never required that, so we’ll see how it looks next week.

Yes, this and ball security. We saw it last year and yesterday there were a couple times when a better placed hand by an ATL defender likely would have caused a fumble. Definitely a nitpicky thing because his performance was everything we wanted to see.

Next week is going to be a big challenge for Hurts because that Niners DL is very very good.

Agree with the down the field thing. I’d love to see the All 22 to find out what was there to be had. But as was posted above, taking those shots weren’t necessary against the Falcons so perhaps we should applaud his efficiency.

Yea that’s not true at all

That's what I'm thinking, at least not any time recent at least. Texans would be fools to not take bag of that at this point.

Of all that's been said.....yesterday was just fun, through and through, which I had missed since Wentz's run really at the end of 2019.

I think the best part is the entire team took centre stage at certain points. The offense responding to Atlanta's opening drive, the defense coming on like gangbusters in the 4th q, and hell even our punter was amazing, completely pinning Atlanta deep. And when your defensive gameplan is to make them beat you by dinking and dunking, giving them the longest field possible is just huge.

Great win.

There was one run where he had Gainwell wide open in front of him. But I mean no one is going to be perfect.

From what Greg Olsen was saying on the broadcast the Falcons were in a two-deep shell... no reason to try and force plays into that when there's no need to...

I remember arguing that they should've drafted him to play DT during 2018 Training Camp instead of OT. Terrible take and so happy to be wrong.
