Excellent move locking him up. I wanted that done last year but he's really awesome, seems like a good and fun dude to have in the locker room as well. I never bought a o-lineman jersey but seriously considering it.

Kind of a block in the back on the 2nd guy

Not worth a flag though.

BTW I was pretty vocal when we drafted Mailata with a pick that I thought should be used for someone that had actually played football. I'm here to confess that I was dead wrong on that one.

Meh … I said the Chargers made a mistake drafting Justin Herbert where they did.

Here are Wentz' unofficial snaps from yesterday.  I'm also going to put this in the first post of the thread for easy reference.

Short hand....he needs to stay healthy up to their bye.

Said it on the Mailata thread, he played unbelievable....think about it.  He has been playing football for like 3 years now, and that extension is going to end up being a bargain.  He eviscerated that poor CB on that kick out block.  When you watch them line up, he makes all the other offensive linemen look tiny.  Also remember, Jason Peters didn't start out as an offensive lineman, he was actually a Tight End.  My point, just because Mailata didn't start out as an Offensive Lineman, well....that doesn't mean he won't be one of the best.  Also on the note regarding JP, he should not be playing football any more.  He looked pathetic in the Chicago game.....which is sad.

Mailata did not play football until he was drafted by the team.  But he play rugby which is also a physical sport, may I say more so than Am football.  He is a huge and powerful player which is essential for football too.  He has developed the football skills and his basic physical attributes are translatable to football game.  Glad that he has taken in the training and advice from coaches and fellow OL players.  Glad also that the team has recognized him as the starting LT and extended his contract.

Saw Peters at the Bears game last night.  He got hurt and left the game.  Sad to see the guy keeps playing after a long and high-level career.  It is clear he had passed his prime and should entire by now.

The Bears may now have an interest in our other LT.  A deal would be win-win for both teams.  Howie gets on phone if he has not already.

It looks like Ryan Fitzpatrick dislocated his hip and it went back into the joint yesterday.  If little damage was done, he could be back in a few weeks or out for the season.

I thought Hurts played like he had been coached yesterday.  Yes., he had bailed from the pocket too quickly at times, but didn't look lost or phased by the game where at times last year he did.

Wow … that’s a tough first 5 games. It would be to bad if they lost them all.

Remove the Giants from the division discussion. They are definitively bringing up the rear.

WTF was the smart pick to win the division, IMO…but their complete lack of a qb will make every single game a challenge for them.  Even if Dak is the king of 400 yards and an L, I still take Dallas over them.  Our performance against SF will be a good preview of how easily we can handle WTF.  If that goes well, I’d say it makes the division closer to a 2 horse race between us and Dallas.  If it doesn’t, then we probably won’t match up great against WTF either.

Watching "My 600lb Life" right now. Am I supposed to feel sorry for them, or just disgusted? I think people like this should be stared at and ridiculed. It shouldn't be socially acceptable. AITA?

Do you think people that have those issues haven't been stared at and ridiculed? I'm not sure what that accomplishes but I'm pretty certain it's not going to change their behavior.

Looking at our snap counts, we didn't use a sixth OL on offense all game.  Saw a few 3 TE sets instead.

I don't care what anyone says.  That sounds painful as hell and debilitating for an older player.

Miami is overrated.  Baltimore is cooked.

@ Miami and @ Baltimore won’t be easy. Baltimore always finds a way to tough out wins. They will this year as well.

Not sure how you do change their behaviour though? Their illness is essentially greed and a very unhealthy relationship with food. I guess counselling may help them?

I’ll go on record as saying our performance bs Washington will have nothing to do with how "easily” we handle Washington. In fact, nothing will be easy for this team … which is fine. Let’s focus on improvement.

Surprisingly and very nice win.

Enjoyable to watch a play caller like Sirianni. Changed pace, changed game plans. attacked different parts of the field and kept the defense guessing.

Mailata played like beast. The defensive front played well. Unsure how many false starts we had but seemed it was a couple

Celebrate late for your team's big win in Buffalo yesterday?

It does.  You could see with how he fell that it was painful for him.  The best  thing for him is no damage to the joint, but for the Eagles, him going on IR would be kind of good.

We need Wentz to stay in the starting lineup though.  I’d hate to see him get benched when their season falls out of reach so that he doesn’t hit his threshold.

Of all that's been said.....yesterday was just fun, through and through, which I had missed since Wentz's run really at the end of 2019.

I think the best part is the entire team took centre stage at certain points. The offense responding to Atlanta's opening drive, the defense coming on like gangbusters in the 4th q, and hell even our punter was amazing, completely pinning Atlanta deep. And when your defensive gameplan is to make them beat you by dinking and dunking, giving them the longest field possible is just huge.

Great win.

This can't be overlooked and neither can the Eagles Punt Returns.  Field position is so important and one of my gripes last year with Greg Ward.  I'd like to know how many punts Ward waved off that bounced and landed inside the 10 or even the 5.

Reagor, despite the arguments about his ability, caught every punt with their worst starting field position being their own 18 yard line.  Their best field position was the 50 yard line (ignoring the last 2 drives when the game was over and the Falcons were desperate).

The Falcons on the other hand started two separate drives from their own 8 yard line.  Their best field position was their own 36 yard line.

Opening line has us 3.5 point underdogs at home against the Niners.

He's been past his prime for about 5 years now.  What we see now is really sad and embarrassing for a guy who should be in the HOF.  When healthy, he can't play.  Donald put him on his back with a 1-arm punch.  Then you add the fact that he can't stay healthy.  Just wish he would hang them up already.

If you watch his highlight video, Wentz played well yesterday.  He did however take 3 unnecessary hits.  He will obviously never slide or run out of bounds to take 1-2 yards less and avoid contact.  He also should have lost a fumble diving forward as he has done many times but the Colts recovered.  It is going to be tough having him stay healthy when he won't change his style of play when it comes to sliding, running out of bounds, throwing it away.

The best case scenario is for the Titans to come back down to Earth,  Tyrod Taylor keeping the Texans competitive and the Jags to get some surprise wins behind Lawrence so the AFC South has to remain competitive.  If the Colts know they have nothing to play for by week 11-12, the smart thing from a franchise standpoint is to sit Wentz and save your 1st round pick.  However, if every team in their division is just in that .500 range then they have everything to play for.

Going to be interesting see how it all plays out.

Likely staying out here.

@Miami?  LOL.  They don't have a home field advantage.  They are just a JAG of a team.  Indy should beat them.  Baltimore needs and wants to run the ball to be effective.  They have brought in like 4 new running backs this past week because of the injuries.

Well they did win in New England yesterday, I’m not sold on Tua but their defense has been good last year and the start of this year. Baltimore will win games, they have a system and a great culture. If you and I were the RB’s they signed I’d be concerned.
