I'm kind of late to jump on this, but what ticked me off the most is they made Doug lose a game for draft positioning and then fired him.

I tend to think doug really didn’t want to be here either factored in that decision. There were reports at the start of the season he didn’t care if he got fired. And during the offseason leaks as well. The eagles were dumb for firing him a week after the season and waiting to do it cause it put them a week behind the rest of the teams. The thing that was more irritating to me is the amount of leaked info that came out trying bury doug and Carson when they left so the eagles could save face. That happens way too often when the eagles fire or trade or let someone go.

🤦‍♂️.  His eyes are closed.

Seth Joyner WENT OFF on this yesterday.

The strategy to beat Hurts seems simple enough. Mush rush with 4 linemen, don't let him scramble easily, and even let him have a perfect pocket (he'll start spinning around in circles). Make him actually throw the ball and you'll win easily.

Here’s the issue, the giants offense sucks which allowed the eagles to hang around in that game and the eagles defense tends to play much better against bad to mediocre QBs. So they were able to still run the ball up until the last drive of the game. Against playoff caliber teams and better opponents you likely aren’t staying in that game with the amount of turnovers we had and mistakes we had.

In a game let’s say against the Bucs, their offense isn’t going to barely score 13 points. So if you are going to be a run first team and minimize your passing game then you have to play mistake free football. Cause against better teams and offenses you are shortening the game and amount of possessions you are going to have. Have to basically be perfect or close to it because if you turn it over 4 times you don’t have enough possessions to catch up and make up for it as you need to run the ball to be most effective. Additionally you are going to find yourself down a lot more than one possession because those teams score on offense. So either have to be turnover free or you are going to have to come out of running the ball earlier and begin to throw which if (in this moment in time) the eagles have to do that against better teams and QBs in the league they aren’t winning.

Jalen obviously made some erratic throws when normally he would of throw it out of bounds.  Again mental mistakes.  But he's been good with protecting the ball for weeks now.  He doesn't throw picks often so obviously the Giants Zone Defense gave him some trouble.   But when you really break this game down.  We drove the ball, we got into the red zone several times.   We just didn't capitalize.   It reminded me of the San Francisco game a little.   Also I don't care if the Team is good or bad.  4 Turnovers including a fumble while your are driving at the end of the game will lose it for 99% of the time.   I just watched Lamar Jackson have 4 Interceptions but he was still able to win because they got their FG's but they gave the Browns every chance to win that game just like we did with the Giants.  The Eagles didn't get those points.  But they were right there in position to still win the game.  Ironically Lamar and Jalen's numbers were similar but he threw one more pick.  I also don't agree with people talking about "He shouldn't pass to Jalen".  I'm sorry but we have to get ALL of WR involved.  Sure if we have to use Ward more than fine but it shouldn't always just be Smith or Goedert.   Watkins is getting more involved too.

The nfl always has a way of adjusting and coming out with a game plan to combat what you do best. so now we play the adjustment game. Gonna see how he responds (not so much this week as the jets are terrible) against Washington after the bye week. I’m guessing they’ll do some of the same things the giants did and add some wrinkles

I liked the refs with the exception of the Nelson DPI. That shouldn't have been called if they were pocketing all the other stuff.

There was an obvious hold on Cox when Jones left the pocket and a few other calls where the refs just looked the other way. Illegal contact against Watkins on the pick.

Anytime a DB attempts to tackle a WR before the ball arrives it should be PI.

Unfortunate non call

Surprised to see Sweats name up there.  I'd love to see more consistency out of him....out of the entire line actually.  You never know which game the D-Line is going to show up and be a pass rushing force.  I want dominant edge rushers.  Hell, Mike Mamula and all of his hurries would be welcome at this point.  Side note, Mamula, despite being over drafted and taken over Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks wasn't the bust people think of.  I'd take a Mamula type career over Barnett, Dillard and Reagor any day of the week.

Ugh, every time I think about Howie's drafts the worse they look.

The only reason the Eagles were still able to run the ball yesterday for the entire game until the last drive was because the Giants offense being inept/eagles defense plays well against bad/mediocre QBs kept them in a close game. Against a team like the Packers or the bucs you are not going to be in a close game cause they score points on offense cause they are good offenses and compounded with the amount of turnovers we had. Against better competition who would put up more than 13 points you’re not gonna be able to stick with the running game because of how many turnovers you had and how far behind you would have been against better competition. The Giants being a bad football team allowed the Eagles to stick with the run until the very last drive of the day.

Which all goes back to my original point to you if you’re going to be a run first team with a marginal to below average passing attack then you have to be nearly perfect every week against better teams in the nfl to win those games. In order to win a Super Bowl you are going to have to beat the upper echelon teams in the league. So you have to basically be near perfect with the recipe the Eagles need to be most effective and going in with every week because their passing attack if they get too far behind is not good enough to overcome that. And in the playoffs you usually face better coaching, better talent and better overall teams than the Giants so you’re not gonna be able to run the ball for an entire 4 quarters because the Giants can’t put you away with all the mistakes you made. whereas packers, Bucs and teams of that caliber will.

I haven't been posting much, just trying to assess this team without all the "noise"...  first, I have to say that I've been pretty impressed with the improvement both Sirianni and Gannon have shown the last several weeks...  as for Hurts, unless he shows some very serious improvement from the pocket over the next five games, you have to take a serious look at finding the next QB...  which brings us to the second problem...  Howie Roseman...  this next draft is a nearly unprecedented opportunity to quickly turn this team around...  I simply do not trust him at all...

Yup.  If this team goes down by 2 scores with our D playing vs a good O then we're dead in the water.  We have to either be in the lead, tied, or within 1 score to keep operating the 'successful' version of our O.

Howie is just too dysfunctional with the draft.

Ginats in 7 man protection and we trying to force throws with Hurts, instead of running the ball?

plain stupidity.

Force throws with Hurts lol. He’s the QB. If he can’t complete a pass then why is he here?

Not sure why the LOL.

Shows how much Mailata cares.

Dude along with the rest of the O line was dominant all game, usually when one dominates in the trenches like the eagles did one wins the game, it was all for naught though as just way too many mistakes by other guys, hurts reagor Scott Herbig ect...

UH OH.....We got another one.  Someone get Lane, Dillard or Brandon to give him some boo hoo pills.

JFC.

Major difference between crying because you love the team and crying because Barnett is being too rough with you.

dont ask me, I would not have drafted Hurts, would not have let wentz become disgruntled, would not have drafted JJAW, or Reagor, WOuld not have relied on Peters, Brooks Alshon and Djax.

Maybe you ask the guy who has done all those things?

Says the guy who quoted me a few times on Friday and then again today about Hurts.  I'm just putting you in your place.  That's needed around here.  Don't worry, you're not alone.

Get a grip - you're sad.

My biggest concern with Jalen hurts is the Eagles getting stuck in purgatory. You can run this version of their offense and win games against bad teams and mediocre teams. Might even upset a good team or two along the way during the regular season. maybe you even win the NFC east one of these years doing that.

however I do not think this offense against better upper echelon teams is consistent enough to beat them. You’re gonna wind up getting stuck in purgatory where you’re not good enough to beat the best teams. And you’re not bad enough to consistently lose to the bad teams.

this isn’t me thinking hurts sucks or I hate Jalen hurts. Frankly I think he could probably be anywhere from 15 to 25 starting quarterback in this league cause the drop off is around 12. However I want better than that because I know it’s much harder to win a Super Bowl when your quarterback and your passing game is below average in a league that’s set up for the pass.

I'd take this guy over Reagor
