What? I’m just pointing out Reagor sucking isn’t on the same level as having a RB play QB

But how can your team win ten games without a viable QB? It’s a conundrum. The defense hasn’t been great all season, but they’ve gotten way better the last few weeks, albeit against bad teams. But if you’re waiting for Hurts to win you ten games, even with a great defense, your whole defense will retire before that happens. We do need some serious help defensively. But this team will never win anything with the offense we’re running.

That said, I’m against trading for an old QB anyway. Rodgers is great. Wilson is still good, but they’re expensive and declining. Small windows aren’t what we need. It worked for the Bucs, sure. I just don’t trust that for us.

I feel like we’re just not in a good place as a franchise. Not a desirable destination. Not a good cap situation. A lame duck QB, who the players like. A mess of a front office, with power structure issues. The future doesn’t look too bright. I’ve always liked Lurie, but I even have concerns about him now.

We have to hit in this upcoming draft. And I don’t trust them to do that.

The Bucs didnt trade for Brady.  Massive difference.

People talk as if you just draft a QB and you're guaranteed a winner as long as he has a strong arm.

Straw man

I don't think there is a definitive answer to the question - "draft a QB now or draft later?". "IF" you have the opportunity to draft a franchise QB, you do it - but there is the rub. Just because you need a franchise QB and you have the draft capital, doesn't mean that guy is available. Sometimes when you have the top pick - Peyton Manning is waiting and Ryan Leaf is the next guy up.

Sometimes it's Tim Couch and Donovan McNabb - though I wonder who the Eagles would have drafted had the Browns taken McNabb?

Sometimes you get Andrew Luck and other times it's Jamarcus Russell - speaking of Russell, who would have thought that Kevin Kolb would be the best QB of his draft class?

How many of you bishing about Hurts would have gone Jihad on the Eagles if they had selected Mac Jones in the first? I can't pat myself on the back with regards to Jones like I knew something few others did - I was intrigued for sure but I would have been hesitant to take Jones in the first. I love Devonta and it's still early - still time for Jones to fall on his face - we'll see.

The point is, a team has to trust their drafting - regardless of what fans think of it - they have to trust it because if they don't draft well then they are sunk anyway.

Wentz was the right pick - even though it didn't ultimately work out the way we would have liked, the SB doesn't happen if the Rams take him and we get Goff.

Never EVER draft based solely on need. Always best player available first. QB's get over drafted all the time - so the evaluation on a QB is more critical - if you're not certain he is the guy - move on and live with the outcome. Tim Couch may have had a productive career with Andy Reid. McNabb might been a fraction of what he was if in Cleveland.

And a GM has to trust his scouts... 🤔.  It's almost like this organization has a fatal flaw.

AB

Gronk

Fournette

put the Bucs over the top , they don’t win the super bowl with out them 3 , those 3?we’re also only ones to have a TD in the Super Bowl

this year they aren’t the same on offense without those 3 , Gronk just got back after 7 weeks injured , and the team is much better , AB is still out and it hurts them , he is the quickest WO in the team , maybe Miller a tad quicker , AB is also their best route runner  , probably the best hands too , him or Tyler Johnson , who doesn’t see the snaps when WOs are healthy

luckily Fournette stays healthy  he might be the 3rd most important piece on the offense

I don’t think Bucs win it all without those three , not the same team without them , AB should be back this week

People realize it is possible to draft a QB and also work towards building the rest of the team, yes? Drafting a QB doesn't prevent you from doing so.

I agree but the struggle in the next couple of years for the Eagles is lack of money to sign FA to improve the D.  If getting a QB means giving up current and future draft capital then building the defense and getting another WR becomes more challenging.   This off season I dont think any draftable QB is worth multiple picks to move up to draft if needed.  I also don't think trading multiple 1sts for any of the current NFL QBs is worth it.  So this draft, take best player available  and we are lucky many of them will be defenders.  If one of the QBs the Eagles like falls a bit then taking them is OK, just don't give up assets to get them

This benching Reagor debate...

Who is going to play when Reagor gets benched?  Reagor has already been "benched" in favor of Watkins, who has played significantly more snaps for the last 2 weeks.  The coach has already washed his hands of Reagor's increased targets and indirectly put that on the QB.

Now, the #3 WR is on the field for about 2/3 of the snaps, which is what we are seeing from Reagor.  Do you really want JJAW or Ward in there over Reagor?  Maybe you do.  Hard to pick one.  But you can't really say they are playing draft favorites just because Reagor is playing over JJAW and Ward.

It's why they need at least one more starting receiver this coming offseason. Imagine if Smith went down no less.

Off topic.  I always enjoy watching the usual Christmas movies this time of year.  I find it rare that new Christmas movies come on to the scene that I actually enjoy.  I thought Netflix did a good job with The Christmas Chronicles series over the past few years.  I sat down to watch 8-bit Christmas on HBOMax last night and it's a pretty decent movie. Neil Patrick Harris is the main character (narrator) who tells his daughter the story of how he got his first Nintendo in 1988.  It's cheesy and has some funny moments but really captures life as a kid in the 80s in so many ways.  Really brings me back to how bad I wanted a Nintendo (never got one) and it even includes the Cabbage Patch Kid mania.  Will be a good movie to sit down with my niece and nephew to watch.  Highly suggest it if you enjoy simple, fun Christmas movies.

No worries...we've got JJAW, who's on pace for 3 receptions this year.   We're fine there.

What makes you think Howie doesn't trust his scouts?

True.  Brady joined a team already had good players at many key positions.  What Bucs lacked was a good QB.  Once Brady arrived, they won the SB!  That is a strong case supporting the approach of building the team first and getting your QB later.

Oof, is that with a hobbled Hurts - or- no backup QB bounce.

Every situation is unique and I think too many people are viewing the Eagles QB situation from either extreme — it’s either find an elite QB prospect/elite veteran QB, or stay with Hurts.  Nobody wants to consider a middle ground, but there is a vast middle ground.

Hurts had a 3rd round grade in the draft.  The assertion that there isn’t any QB in this coming draft who’s any better than Hurts is simply ludicrous.  There aren’t any slam-dunk prospects at QB, but there are prospects.

Back to the unique situation.  Sirianni is a new HC hire and should be given the opportunity to develop the type of QB he wants to groom.  Maybe that’s Hurts — maybe it isn’t.  If it’s not it would be foolish to go another 17 games next season with a QB that you know isn’t your future.

This brings me back to my point about Carson Strong. All these top QB tricks are trying to out smart every one in the room, trying to get cute. Trying to be "new and fresh". Bakers running and athletics. oooo and ahhh. Remeber the Mariota and Winston draft. Flashy, fast runners who can also throw.

Give me the Monster Frame and Monster Arm let the coaches go from there.

Winston is the big frame and big arm.  Can't run at all.

Only QB I take in rd one is Corral , not a huge fan of Strong , best deep ball accuracy in the draft , but that’s it. , said it before he is Bledsoe with a suspect knee

I like Levis and Jurkovec , but I expect both to return , as they should

I am a fan of Zappe and Barriere in rd 3 area .

not the best year to need a QB

No team follows that absurd theory. Point to the Bucs all you want but they spent the #1 overall pick on a QB and built the team around him. It just so happened he wasn’t worth a second contract so they were in position to sign Brady to put them over the top. It was pure lucky timing, nothing else.

What about Denver with Manning?

I mean, call me crazy, but I'd be happy with a Drew Bledsoe on this team....
