I think Adams is going to be a huge problem for them too. They are already projected at $44M over the cap next year, and the talks got ugly before Adams shut them down. I can see him hitting FA and getting a monster deal somewhere else and then Rodgers will throw a pissy fit at the F.O.

I have a hard time seeing them not franchise tagging him and figuring everything out afterwards where they restructure contracts and extend guys to lower cap. I also think guys like Preston smith likely is restructured and Alexander is extended to lower his cap from the 5th year 14 mil number. Cobb is definitely not back at 9.6 mil. Zadarius smith I’m guessing is restructured cause don’t see him back at a 28.1 mil cap number when they can save 16 mil cutting him and he’s hurt this year.

If they lose before the Super Bowl and rodgers wants out, I could see them blowing it up where they trade Rodgers get that haul. And then see what the market bears for Devante Adams if he’s not willing to re-sign a long-term deal. I just can’t see them letting him walk away from the organization when he has that much value whether he plays there or they can use him as a trade chip.

Also pointing out if they go into 2022 with Jordan Love as a quarterback and he winds up being bad, they are very likely to have multiple draft picks for the 2023 class. if they do wind up trading Rodgers and Davante Adams that’s another team that you’re competing with in 2023 for the quarterback that you might love and you might not have as good asset or higher draft pick as the Green Bay Packers.

Maybe. Projected tag of $19M all in one season while already being way over is going to be a struggle. And who knows how Rodgers responds to cutting some of these guys like Cobb or someone else to get under. He made a big deal about cutting Kumerow, I can see him clashing with Gutekunst again. Rodgers turned into a major headcase.

You'd have to have a separate discussion about QBs from the FA and salary cap era onward, as historically before FA teams were stuck with whichever QB they drafted and there were many less options to build and upgrade a team.

Just talking 2000 and onward, the list of Super Bowl winning QBs is:

2000 -- Trent Dilfer.  FA signing coming off serious injury and was signed to be the backup

2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 -- Tom Brady.  6th round pick as mentioned.  FA signing with TB

2002 -- Brad Johnson.  9th round pick, journeyman QB, FA signing on his 4th team

2005, 2008 -- Ben Roethlisberger.  11th overall pick in 1st round

2006, 2015 -- Peyton Manning.  #1 overall pick with IND; FA signing with DEN coming off serious neck injury

2007, 2011 -- Eli Manning.  #1 overall pick

2009 -- Drew Brees.  2nd round pick; FA signing with serious injury concerns about his throwing shoulder

2010 -- Aaron Rodgers.  #24 overall pick in 1st round

2012 -- Joe Flacco.  #18 overall pick in first round

2013 -- Russell Wilson.  3rd round draft pick

2017 -- Nick Foles.  3rd round draft pick; FA signing brought in to be the backup

2019 -- Patrick Mahomes.  #10 overall pick in first round.

2020 - Brady - FA

By my count, out of those 21 Super Bowl champions there are 10 won by a 1st round pick -- only Peyton, Eli, and Mahomes were top 10 picks, btw.  Dilfer was, but not by BAL and was brought in to backup, as mentioned.

6 SB winning QBs were FA signings.

There are different backgrounds SB-winning QBs come from.  I wouldn't say 11/21 outside the 1st round is getting lucky.

What this list shows me, is all I really care about, When you dont have a franchise QB, you really dont have much of a chance at winning a SB. I dont care how you get them.

I just would rather we take the bird in the hand (proven QB avail now) vs 2 in the bush.... more of a gamble.

From what I've been hearing on talk radio the last week or so, it's probably a better chance that Seattle will let go of Pete Carroll and keep Wilson.

Not to mention it wouldn't surprise me at all if GB smartens up and just decides to keep Rodgers.  Unless they completely fall apart the rest if the year and playoffs and Rodgers throws a hissy fit.

Rodgers wants out of GB. Has zero to do with what GB wants.

I really just can’t see them letting Adams just walk away as a free agent and getting nothing for arguably the best WR in the game. I think they’d cut zadarius smith and Cobb before allowing that to happen. Plus if they trade Aaron Rodgers it opens up $19 million of Space. So if that happens I see them using that cap space to the least hold onto Adam so that they could make a trade with him and get a ton of value for him.

frankly cutting smith, Cobb is likely happening and saves 23 mil alone. They have a bunch of guys they can restructure and extend to lower. I really just can’t see any team allowing that type of player in Adams to just walk onto the market.

What are the injury updates?

Ignoring the higher rated player to select the ones that we ended up with.

Veto scouts... select JJAW, at behest of Lurie.

Veto scouts... select Hurts over Chinn.

Veto scouts... select Reagor over Jefferson.

And you know he Vetoed scouts how?

KINCADE: You've got to get him to waive the no-trade clause to get him to come to Philadelphia, though.

"SCHEFTER: I believe he'd waive the no-trade clause."

I don't think he'd do it

Doubt they sit Jalen this Sunday due to injury since they haven't signed a QB to backup Minshew of that's how it plays out.

If he wants out of Seattle, why wouldn't he? Some Eagles fans overthink it. The Eagles aren't some abomination of an organization.

They already have a 3rd QB on the roster

Why would he choose us over other teams looking for a QB?

Offensive line and it’s close to NY

Why wouldn't he? Very good OL, an organization with a good record of success, all of the resources, bright offensive coach, potentially on the up. He'd be happy to waive his NMC.

I look at it this way Miami likely winds up with watson. Denver if rodgers is dealt is the place i think he goes. Meaning teams vying for him are likely the giants, Washington, Vegas, Steelers, saints. Besides the Saints and the Steelers the Eagles are a better organization than the other teams in there and better Oline. Plus I don’t think the Saints and the Steelers have the assets to get that trade done.

I still don’t think they get him but if he would be willing to come here tells me that howie and Jeff are going to try to do it

He doesn't get to choose where he goes, he just has the choice to not go somewhere

We'll see. I don't think so

I don’t think they get him ultimately. But if he’s willing to drop his NTC to potentially come here then i see howie and lurie attempting to make it happen. Which is what 4for4 and I have been saying theyd at least try their damnedest to do for months.

Why would a 33 year old celebrity QB want to come to a low-talent team with unproven weapons, an unproven coaching staff, an impatient fan base, established ownership/management/coaching interaction problems, in a crappy city?

If he can veto, he's going to veto the Eagles.

And why would a franchise with an extremely young coaching staff with an extremely young nucleus of talent that isn't ready to compete yet want to burn necessary rebuilding resources on a 33 year old QB?  It is such a predictable failure.  This is Brett Favre to the Jets, Mcnabb to the Redskins, etc.  He makes a non-competitive team marginally better while making our future prospects worse.  And we waste the remaining high end years he has left.

Honestly, with our young and improving Oline, Goedert and Smith vs what he is dealing with? He probably thinks our offensive pieces are an upgrade over his current teammates. He has to look at Hurts like we do and wonder wtf is he doing, god I could do so much better...

This would make me happy.

Who? Is it some sudfeld type they signed off of someone's practice squad?

I wasn't aware that Wilson had a no trade, more of a Seahawks would honor who he wants to go to.  I think if the Giants want him they would have the better assets to pull off a trade and he would prefer to go to that team.
