Kittle is going to feast

We shall see. He feasted last year to be fair but how did that pan out for them against us?

Deebo Samuel ain’t no slouch, and they do have all pro TE George Kittle.

I also don't think they'll be starting a rookie at LG.

That one weakness led to much of our DLs success.

There are a lot of "football people" who think Gannon is the next great HC candidate in the NFL. If the defense starts to string performances like yesterday together then I think we can start to legitimize the system and stop delegitimizing the opponents. An unfortunate side effect will be that we probably will only have him for one year. Some team will offer him a HC next year assuming the Eagles defense is consistently performs at a high level this season.

It's been one game.  I mean if the team doesn't allow a TD all season we will see.  I hope you're right that he is that good.  I am impressed with the way he rotated players and seemed to get something out of everyone that took a snap.

Davenport was horrible. He was on a Matt pryor level yesterday. He gave up 8 QB pressures alone. They need fisher out there cause even him on the decline coming off injury isn’t nearly as bad as Davenport. I was more surprised that glowinski and smith were as bad as they were. They combined for 7 QB pressures. That wasn’t all Carson. On their two point conversion smith and glowinski blocked no one and they had 3 pass rushers in the backfield as soon as the snap got to Carson. I thought the first half besides Davenport the oline was doing well. Felt like second half they had a bunch of problems with communication. I think Kelly just looked tired midway through the third. Which isn’t surprising as he and Nelson have barely practiced over the preseason and training camp.

There is no way Wentz stays healthy behind that trash

Well not just a seventh. The Mailata pick was with a seventh rounder from the Pats in 2018.  To make that trade, the Eagles traded their own 2018 7th round choice plus their own 2019 seventh round choice.   So Mailata while picked in the seventh round, actually cost two seventh round picks.

Still a good risk for ROI.

Of course we don't know for sure but I think Sirianni has a lot more to this offense than what we saw yesterday. Yesterday they played things safe. They took what Atlanta gave them and that was more than enough. I suspect we will see something a lot different next weekend.

A follow up point to this... the bag of tricks and different concepts is not bottomless. I wouldn't expect the offense to look much different next week. I think the weeks you save the truly original/unique stuff for are the weeks you play your divisional games.

I really liked how after the first 2 drives he seemed to make adjustments. From then on it was just sheer dominance.

Was it the OL that was trash? On OL that has been considered one of the better OLs in the NFL for the last couple of years...

Looking at our snap counts, we didn't use a sixth OL on offense all game.  Saw a few 3 TE sets instead.

So Sirianni used 100% of the active roster in the game.  Least used player was Tarron Jackson.

I’m just here waiting for "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.”

Lotta good yesterday. Jalen Hurts far exceeded my expectations.

What we saw yesterday was an offense that took what the defense gave them. I'm not suggesting there will be wholesale differences but I think you'll see a rather different approach and game plan.

11 of Hurts Completions were behind LOS

12 were 1-15Yards out

Only 2 were 15+ yards

Yes take what the defense gives you. Not every defense will give you the underneath stuff

They had nick mullens starting. Under shanahan when Jimmy G starts they are 23-9 scoring 27.8 ppg.

Yeah I mean obviously he's got to prove it. But I can imagine a scenario where the wheels of the media hype train start moving on him after only a few weeks because there was already that established reputation around the league even before the ATL game.

Ok... And look they absolutely can beat us. Hell I think they probably will beat us. They could even beat us down a little too. But I don't fear SF. They are a good team but I think we can beat them.

They aren’t going to be that bad all year. Fisher comes back he’s a big upgrade over Davenport even if he’s not what he once was. The right side of their line should be better. Smith is good. I think the bigger issue is the Seahawks have a good line. Rasheem green is a beast. People will know who he is by seasons end. Second i think the fact the oline didn’t get many practice reps with Kelly and Nelson out much of training camp and preseason also had an affect. Seattle isn’t some bum team. They won 12 games last year. Not the ideal opponent to start with when you’ve had 2 of your 5 olineman not get many reps at all in training camp and ditto for your QB

Nope - Pitts is going to kill the Eagles and then he's coming for you.

Kyle Pitts 4 Rec. 31 Yards, 7.8 ypc on 8 targets.  No fatalities on the birds.

I don't know whether he's heading to anyone's house on the blog.

At some point someone is going to start taking the right side of the field away. Assuming Sirianni and Hurts are quick to recognize it I think it's those games where we start to see the big plays open up. You'll have someone running free on the opposite side of the field with no help over the top.

The best case scenario is for the Titans to come back down to Earth,  Tyrod Taylor keeping the Texans competitive and the Jags to get some surprise wins behind Lawrence so the AFC South has to remain competitive.  If the Colts know they have nothing to play for by week 11-12, the smart thing from a franchise standpoint is to sit Wentz and save your 1st round pick.  However, if every team in their division is just in that .500 range then they have everything to play for.

Going to be interesting see how it all plays out.

Wentz doesn’t take well to being sat.  Think he handles it better in Indy?

I didn’t say they couldn’t beat them. I think they have a better chance than what Vegas is giving them and likely they national media will give them. However the niners last year played with nick mullens in our game. He was god awful. They were also without deebo Samuel in that game. Those are major differences for them. It’s why i wouldn’t use well kittle went off last year and we still won. It’s an entirely different offense with Jimmy G and deebo along with aiyuk and kittle out there.

My concern, nothing over the middle.

Again, maybe that's by design.  But it's something to keep an eye on going forward.

The game last year was in SF wasn't it? So that's one potential thing going for us. We will have home support.

That’s one of the reasons i give the eagles a better shot. First home game of the year and first game in front of a pack crowd at the linc since the seattle playoff game. I think there will be juice in the stadium.

As they say, you won't go broke taking a profit.  So, since they were so successful with the underneath, outside plays and running the ball, there was no need to really open it up.  That said, this won't work like this every week.  They will have to open it up at some point, and we'll see what happens then.

Still -- 27 completions for 264 yards is not bad at all; almost 10 yards per completion no matter how it's sliced.  Those short throws at the LOS are very difficult to defend -- the Pats have made a science out of it, and even PIT last season went to 11-0 before teams figured out Big Ben wasn't going to throw it downfield.

It's when the team gets 10+ points behind that it starts to hurt not to be able to complete the ball down the field.
