Never forget the game he QB slid short of a first down to avoid contact...

What a chump

So the two takeaways from the article

1. Lurie is higher on hurts than howie but from what i gather doesn’t say how much higher lurie is. Because another piece of info was the second takeaway

2. That lurie was *believed to be* the driving force behind the eagles interest and going after watson. From the article "The Eagles did preliminary work on Watson and were open to the possibility of a transaction with the Texans, even in light of multiple sexual assault allegations, sources said. While this would seem to go against Lurie’s edict, Hurts would have either left in the exchange or dropped on the depth chart. A move of such magnitude couldn’t occur without owner approval, of course. In fact, Lurie was believed to be the driving force behind his team’s interest, the two sources familiar with his thinking said. "Jeffrey has his principles,” an NFL source who worked with the Eagles said, "until it comes to quarterbacks.”

What an absurd comment from Pagnetti.

He had a better QB in Wentz and didn’t do crap.

Hurts is Questionable for Sunday

He’s playing. I’m not getting my hopes up.

Doug is a nice guy but he needed to go.  Without Reich and DeFilippo he was way over his head.  His scheme was terrible, he had no insight into what his medical staff was doing, he had a bias to play veterans past their prime, and the team being constantly decimated by injuries fell under his S&C coaches and offseason conditioning program.

Probably. But I think the injury is now more serious than I thought before.

You just get ready to see some Steve McNair-like heroics from our gutsy, hobbled, brave franchise QB on Sunday

Wasn't that Miami?

literally every aspect of the offense declined after Reich left. Points, yards, originality, EVERYTHING.

The fact that he got ZERO interviews for ANYTHING shows you how much he's really wanted around the league

He'll get a job doing something when he wants it. He's getting paid millions this year and next to sit at home. Why do anything right now?

I would add to this it wasn’t like the Eagles did him a service by firing him a week after everyone started their coaching searches. By the time he got into the pool teams had already conducted second interviews and things were out in motion.

I don’t understand the Watson love, there’s nothing stopping him from coming here and doing the same thing. 22 different women, that’s a class action lawsuit. I’m waiting on an email in spam just to sign up like I did with Roundup.

I mean maybe but I do think Doug is a good coach.  Would this team be better with Press Taylor as the OC? I kind of doubt it.

Think the last sentence from takeaway two from the article says it all. Lurie has principles until it comes to QB. I think they look at Deshaun Watson being 27 years old, top 10 quarterback in the league and that they did enough research to believe he doesn’t go to prison and is settled someway. I think the reason is likely if he’s not going to prison that him at 27 and being a top 10 QB that they would be willing to move assets for him. I am not saying that is right or wrong but that’s how I interpret the reasoning behind lurie being willing and the driving force to go after him with everything going on.

They played a snippet of a John Clark - Doug Pederson interview on WIP that has Pederson in his way indicating that it was Roseman who chose Reagor over Jefferson.

I hope Lurie approved researching Watson.  It makes sense from a football perspective. It doesn't mean he would have made the trade.  I mean Philly was continually mentioned but I don't know if that was just from the Texans because it seemed early on that Watson does not want to come to Philadelphia.  I don't think the Eagles made any offer for him.  They should objectively evaluate Hurts in terms of other QBs available.  My concern is that the grass always looks greener for them.  Howie will have carte blanche to throw resources at a QB that may not be worth it.

Let's hire Doug as the GM.

Formal offer I’m not sure. I know agent joel corry stated the eagles were trying to deal goedert as part of the deal for watson after the new came out about ertz being dealt to Arizona. Said it’s why ertz wasn’t dealt to Buffalo earlier in the season/offseason.

I look at it this way. The Eagles did their investigation on it. There was a report they sent dom and others to investigate (i want to say it was inside the birds in May/June). I really think this comes down to lurie probably listened to what they found out.  Thought he’s 27 and top 10 QB so he could have his franchise QB for over a decade if we made the trade and he didn’t believe he’s going to wind up in prison.

I don't know if any decision was made.  I think they knew the allegations but I don't know how far they got towards trading for him.

Again depends on what you believe. Agent Joel corry stated they were trying to include goedert in a deal for watson at the end of august which was the hold up for ertz not going to Buffalo. Maybe he’s BSing and just wrong but Corry hasn’t had a reputation where he just throws things out there just to be in the spotlight

The Eagles M.O. seems to be to do their due diligence on almost everyone that comes available; that's why the Eagles get tied so often to these rumors.  Like you said, inquiring is a loooong way away from actually offering or trading for the player.
