Championship game weekend shows why no team that bypasses the championship game should ever advance to the final four.

I think if Bama loses this game they shouldn't move outside of the top 4. Most teams don't play themselves into an SEC championship game against the #1 team in the country. You shouldn't be punished for losing that game while a team like Notre Dame sits at home and benefits from your loss.

It won't be ND that makes it, it'll be Baylor.

I agree with this as well. ND has to be the most overrated program in college football history. Yes they've played plenty of power 5 teams but which ones have a winning record that they beat? Cincy outclassed them when they beat them.

Don't think so. Notre Dame has just one loss, Baylor has two (one to TCU). Though I could be wrong, nothing would surprise me ultimately.

Baylor is the only team with 3 top 15 wins in the country, and they are a conference champion which the committee favours. It'll be them.

Fair point

All these years and college football still can't figure out how to properly determine a champion in its top division

smh

Boo hoo.  They have a chance to get in by winning.  Besides, they already got a bye to go to the championship game a few years ago.  They were unbeaten and lost to LSU (also unbeaten).  They stayed home, LSU had to win the SEC championship game against UF, IIRC... and what did they get as a reward?  They got to play a well rested Alabama team for the championship.  The argument went that Alabama-LSu were 1-2 going into that game, so they were the best two teams...

Meanwhile two unbeatens met in a similar situation a few years before that.  #1 squeaked out a victory over #2 on a last second score... proving just how evenly matched they were.  What happened?  #1 went to the NC game, the loser #2 went to the Rose Bowl.  SEC bias is gross in the NCAA.  Only 1 team from any conference should get in.   If you want to make the playoff... win your conference, or stay home and watch.  Real simple, that way it is settled on the field, not in the board room.

ND can join a conference or miss out.  They shouldn't factor in.

They've figured it out... but they don't care.  They do what they do because the money dictates all of it.

Alabama playing Georgia for the SEC Championship doesn't solve who's the best of the SEC?

I think he's talking about D-1 NCAA football, not the SEC exclusively.

Wow

Hurts finished the game and said this week he was going to play, this seems more like a benching than an injury situation

It'd be good for Hurts to get an extra week because of the bye to rest and heal up especially if by some chance Minshew is worse. Having an injured ankle when you're a mobile QB must be painful

I wouldn't be surprised if Hurts starts though

Meh. Dak did the same thing earlier in the season.
