the birds in a pickle with the qb situation, hurts isnt the answer, minshew wont be either, and please dont get old wilson from seattle, but my gut says they will, Ive got a Gibbs gut so there you go

I should have mentioned earlier that even putting aside the 1.5 sacks, Sweat had a nice game. He had two rushes where he was in Wilson almost instantly. One was a WR screen and another was on a nice spin move.

folks are excited to see a qb complete passes, it is cool, I dont believe they can win consistently with gardner, but he's light years better than hurts

I still have no idea why the Jags gave away Minshew for a 6, and why no other team would top that offer.

The Steelers would be better with him.

Minshew didn’t come in today and somehow make himself into our starter for years to come.

but what he did do is pretty clearly demonstrate how different this offense can look with a QB who is simply competent as a passer.

Not only that but the running game did not suffer.  They had 185 yards on the ground.  More with Hurts?  Sure.  Was the running game bad?  Not even close.

This team needs a real QB.

It says a lot about the QB play this season, and the last 4 games last season doesn't it?

You know the Eagles played well when Jefferson has a 11 reception 180+ yard game with a tuddy and no one brings it up in the blog

Gotta feel good for him.   Not bad for a 6th round pick.   He may never be a starter full time in the league, but he's definitely going to make a good bit of money as a backup.  He's easily already a top backup in the NFL.  An argument could be made that he's one of the top 32 QBs in the league.

Just caught up on the game after watching the F1.

Minshew's arm is not the strongest noodle in the pack but the O looked less frenetic than it has done this season with him at QB.  No Benny Hill type running for a change - I don't think either QB are the answer but it was nice to at least get a feel for what the O can be.

The D. Can be better; a lot better infact, but a Bye week will be most welcome

Someone needs to make videos of Hurts dancing in the pocket with the Benny Hill chase theme song playing.  That would be comedy gold.

The Jags continue to do Jag things.

Caplan said 3 teams were in on him too. Maybe Myer just sucks at negotiating.

I would disagree there. It looks nice at the end of the game, but we weren’t doing that well on the ground for about three quarters. Sanders himself said it was harder without Hurts.

I would bring it up... but every time I do it hurts more than the previous time.   But, hey... Reagor made some plays today, eh?

Or they decided to ship him to the NFC.

That's interesting.  They were throwing the ball well early on so maybe I didn't realize that.  No doubt, Hurts makes the running game better.

Holes were smaller, but they were still there.  I think the point is... the team doesn't need a running QB to make the running game effective.  The running game was effective today, just not as effective.  But, they ripped off 13+ minutes of the 3rd quarter on 2 possessions.  That says a lot about the effectiveness of the running game.  And more importantly, the passing game was far more effective today.  I prefer a slightly weaker, yet still effective running game, and a significantly more effective passing game paired with it.

The holes were smaller and we had a lot more aggressive run fits by the Jets. Way too many defenders in the backfield today. There was no spy and the backside end didn’t have to honor Minshew.

I think Sanders was at something like 3.9 yards per carry close to the end of the third quarter. He popped a big one in the fourth and finished at 5.0.

Considering the Jets were 27th in rush defense, I wasn’t impressed.

When's the last time an Eagles running back had 24 carries? The fact that we think 185 yards is a "weak" running game is pretty amazing too.  Those are good/very good numbers.

Good 1st and half of 2nd. End of the 1st half got tight finding space. And things really went down hill in the 3rd and half of 4th quarter. Then they started getting some chunks again.

During those times where the run game struggled, Minshew was also holding the ball long, and then settling for passes in the flats which were going nowhere. For a huge portion of the game, the offense had nothing going on.

That's the story of Sanders career though.  I think that speaks more of his running style than it does the Eagles running game.  Take away his long runs and he has a very pedestrian average.

Would love to see Howard with 24 carries.

There was a play at the end of the game where Gainwell went off the right side.  The OL had about a 5 yard push and all he had to do was continue going out to the right but for some reason ran up the back of Lane Johnson.
