Somewhat interesting that the national media seems to be aggressively defending Hurts.

Please back this up with examples.

I think that has become an urban legend around here.

Not saying it never happens.  But, IMO, its not a trait anymore.

not anymore. Not ever.

Yes he may miss a hole. I noticed a glaring example once today.

But hes not a guy who loses yards.

Even today when he reversed field, he saw he wasnt going to get to turn the corner and he put his shoulder down and fell upfield. He pretty much always salvages something.

He runs patiently, and sometimes that isnt as effective as plowing forward immediately (goal line and short distance scenarios). But he does know when to just try to salvage a few when nothing opens in front of him. People think he loses yards frequently, and gets stopped for no gain frequently. Its just not true.

I dont think anyone else would agree with you that a running game that lost yards was still good.

They didn't 'lose' yards - 'lost yards per carry'... meaning they had a smaller per carry average than earlier.  They gained yards overall.

3rd quarter runs:
1st drive - not a single loss of yards:
1st and 10 - 7 yards. (good)
2nd and 3 - 6 yards.  (good)
1st and 5 - 2 yards. (not bad, because of the situation)
2nd and 3 - 2 yards. (not bad, because of the situation)
3rd and 1 - 6 yards (good)
1st and 10 - 0 yards. (Reager end around... always bad)
1st and 10 - 0 yards (not good)
1st and goal - 1 yard (not good)
2nd and goal - 1 yard (not good)

2nd drive -
1st and 10 - 3 yards (meh)
1st and 10 - lost 1 yard (bad)
4th and 1 - 2 yard run (in the books as 2 yards... good enough)
1st and 10 - 3 yards (not bad)
2nd and 7 - 5 yards (good)
3rd and 2 - lost 1 yard (bad)

By my count there were a handful of 'bad' runs the entire time of the 3rd quarter, but some that weren't as bad as they might seem in the aggregate stats.   The 2 yard runs on 1st and 5 and 2nd and 3 look bad... but they kept the Eagles 'on schedule' and the clock moving.  They hurt the average but not the function.  2 yards on 4th and 1 is 'good' to me as well... but hurts the per carry average also.  2 plays were for negative yards.  2 plays for 0 yards.  And 2 plays for 1 yard when you needed more.   6 bad runs, 9 average to above average runs.  That's not terrible to me when you have a lead and are looking to bleed the clock.  That 3rd quarter was absolutely effective in that department to me.

not at all surprising considering the agenda of present day media outlets. not saying its a racial thing. But, its a racial thing.

Side stepping that for a second, at the national level, it's easy to defend him (or anyone else) when he's not your quarterback, it's not your team, and you don't give a crap if the Eagles win a SB.  Blah blah blah give him a shot.  If he were released tomorrow or in the offseason, 0 of the 31 other teams would even let him sniff a competition for a starting job.  But Philly needs to give him a shot.

agreed.

Has Hurts entered the transfer portal yet?

Turds play @ WFT next Sunday.  If DAL wins they have a huge lead atop the division.  If WFT wins I think the Turds are in trouble.

Nick Saban, the greatest college football coach of all time, benched Hurts at halftime in the National title game for a freshman because he can’t pass for $hit.

It’s infuriating so many can’t see (or admit) he’s not good.

Doesn’t count. It was (kinda) in the pocket and not on a rushing attempt!

Nah, doesnt matter.  He's missed a game due to injury.  Cant stay healthy.

The elephant in the room that I'm sure has crossed a lot of our minds given today's society and agenda like you said.

Well to be fair it doesn't look like he shook his hand, he only hugged him...🤔

Let's not get carried away with Minshew's performance, if Hurts had played and put up similar numbers, let's face it, all we'd read about was how it was against the Jets.

He had a good game, he also showed why he was available for a 6th rd pick.
