The elephant in the room that I'm sure has crossed a lot of our minds given today's society and agenda like you said.

I don’t believe for a second Hurts will keep the starting QB job just based on the color of his skin.  Over the last 7 games he’s been a 55% passer, and if that doesn’t change soon he will be replaced — unless the team somehow keeps winning without a viable passing attack

No offense.  But you should just stick to sharing tweets of other people’s opinions.  Because yours are pretty bad and often wrong.

Don’t get offended.  I said no offense.

There are some people here I have no desire to meet in the real world if their posts are a true reflection of their character.

Let's not get carried away with Minshew's performance, if Hurts had played and put up similar numbers, let's face it, all we'd read about was how it was against the Jets.

He had a good game, he also showed why he was available for a 6th rd pick.

The problem is if Hurts had put up similar numbers to what he did last week against the Giants, the Eagles would have lost to the Jets.  Don’t forget the Jets scored TDs on their first 3 possessions

Every QB has a stinker during a season, Lawrence and Wilson have almost nothing but this season, same with Fields. The first half might have been as good as Wilson look all season, the second half, well, once Gannon adjusted, the game was over.

Both Minshew and Hurts are limited, MInshew is a typical caretaker QB, on a good team with a good defense and a power running game, he can get you to the playoffs by avoiding mistakes and letting the defense win games. But he's not going to carry a team on his back or win games with his arm. Hurts is more inconsistent as a passer, but his ability to run is special and takes the running game to another level.

Upgrading either isn't as easy as some think, Bears are a good example, traded 2 1sts and a 3rd for Cutler, won 10+ games twice and made the playoffs once in 7 years, then drafted Trubisky #2, in four years, won 11 games and made the playoffs once, then used #11 on Fields, who has been terrible.

He's a backup QB. Now given the quality of backups around the league, surprised a playoff team didn't upgrade to him at a higher price.

But only a few teams would be good fits, the Eagles if they had a better defense, for example, but he's not going to win many shootouts.

Detmers, Colt McCoy, etc. These guys can win you a couple games but can't carry a team for 16 games.

Notice he didn't make many throws into tight windows, he threw a catchable ball to open recievers.

Notice he went through his progressions, had pocket awareness, and didn’t flee at phantom pressures.

Going along with this rationale 100% — who was the last QB with special running ability to win a Super Bowl?  Conference Championship?  Divisional Round?  How long is the list?

Aside from Russell Wilson — who also has an elite throwing arm (drafted by the Baltimore Orioles to play MLB) — I don’t think there is anyone else.  Without the ability to throw the football, and no discernible progress or evolution in that aspect since his first NFL start, Hurts’ ability to run on its own just isn’t sufficient.

This isn’t an issue of one "stinker during the season”; Hurts has completed only 55% of his passes in his last 7 starts.

You do crosswords or other puzzles and eventually you start solving the Hard level consistently.  Then, to kill some time, you do a few at the Medium level and blow right through them.

That's what we saw from Minshew today.  He was executing the Hurts level offense with ease.  Only missed two of his targeted throws.  Nothing close to an INT.

A shame that it's still a challenge to Hurts.

I don't think Hurts puts up those numbers if he had played this game.  Probably similar to what he's been doing:  less than 200 passing yards, just above 50% comp, and leading the team in rushing.

And I don't think anyone is getting carried away by Minshew's performance today.  He was good, not great.  He wasn't pinpoint on some of his passes, but he's also probably a bit rusty and not in rhythm with the receivers.  Those of us 'celebrating' Minshew's performance are having fun.  Mostly, we enjoyed what the O looks like with a QB that makes quick reads and delivers the ball where it needs to be on time and doesn't run around in circles in a mostly clean pocket panicking.  His performance was refreshing compared to what we're used to seeing other than the 1st half of the DEN game.

Do we want a better QB than Minshew for our long term starter?  Yes.  But we also would rather see Minshew starting for now until we get that QB because he'll better allow our young WRs to develop and allow Siri's 'real O' to start to take shape.

QB we all dream of >>>>> Minshew >>>>> Hurts.

Of course... that's his MO.  Oversells his guys.  That one was just way over the top.  He could have just gone with 'one of the best'... not 'the best'.

He said benching Reagor would hurt the team last week which of course is utter nonsense.

It was reported yesterday he was out.  Not sure why you still had a doubt this morning.

What I meant was that he or may not be injured enough to warrant being held out.

Hate having a QB controversy but that's where we are at this point.  Neither choice is all that good to be honest.  No way Hurts is the choice for starting QB next year so may as well have some fun with Minshew and Minshew gives us at least as good a chance to make the playoffs if not better.

Feels like we are always at that point though doesn't it.

Gardner Minshew is an anagram for:

Wait for it..........

He'd Win Games rnr (rock n roll)

I need help 🤣🤣🤣

Gardner did play well. But it was the Jets and I don't expect that he hurt Jalen's chances to start in any way. Unless he gets hurt again he will finish the season.
