He's right.  Tons of support being thrown behind Hurts, a very flawed QB, for other reasons.

Sure. Well too bad all the political agenda is screwing these poor white guys, when we all know there just aren‘t enough black dudes that have what it takes to be a HC or QB.

I think it‘s just the other way around.

The whole ‚just a RB‘ and ‚ not smart enough for the position‘ sounds very suspicious to me.

I think you can make a compelling argument that Hurts would be a hell of a running back in the NFL.   6-1 225 with agility and power.  I see no issue in saying he'd be a running back.

I haven't seen too many comments saying he isn't smart enough to play quarterback.  I see a lot of Hurts has all the intangibles you want but doesn't process the defense quick enough and is a 1-read quarterback which is true.  It's the one thing Minshew did that was night and day.  Even with a noodle arm, Minshew was quicker with his reads and going through his options.

If Tim Tebow was the quarterback here putting up similar numbers to Hurts I think people would be losing their minds.  Tebow, like Hurts, was not good at reading a defense but he could run the ball.  Ask Tebow to throw the ball 24 times a game and he looks a lot better than when he's dropping back 40 times a game.

I like Jalen Hurts.  He's got everything you want in a leader, I just don't think he's a good NFL quarterback.  I also don't think Minshew is a good NFL quarterback if that matters.  I think it's strange the way people defend his poor play because he's "cool".  That was from an actual tweet I shared a few weeks back.

My initial elephant in the room comment was just a response to another post and also just an observation.

Hurts=SWAG/cool        Minshew=Goofy/funny mustache

One thing getting lost with this QB controversy is Nick Sirianni quietly having a nice 1st year HC campaign. Birds have scored 30+ points 6 times this season. There were zero 30+ point games last season.

Well I think Minshew has way more swag than Hurts.

But see, if you are a full blown racist you won‘t come out and say: Uh, don‘t like the skin color. But you will jump on every opportunity, every little mistake to say: I don‘t think he is the right guy.

Not against you personally, and I sure think cancel culture is a cancer ruining movies today for me. But equality is not reached yet and I am pretty sure some of the resistance toward Hurts is rooted in that.

Oh I've long said Hurts should be converted to RB. I think he'd absolutely thrive as an RB. And I've definitely pounded the drum about him being too dumb football wise to handle being QB. His situational awareness is severely lacking, and he makes mistakes that kids in pop warner don't make. He's insanely dumb when it comes to football IQ. Has nothing to do with his race.

What a ridiculously bad take.

That take took him straight to Ignore.  We don't need any of that stuff here.

A few over 75% wouldn't hurt. The total number of Colts offensive snaps is projected, not known. Regardless, except for injury Wentz will be taking all the Colts' offensive snaps I'm pretty certain.

He certainly has turned things around and maybe that whole, we don't know our identity stuff was him being honest.  I was really worried (although not convinced yet) that Sirianni was nothing more than a HS coach.  He's slowly turning the corner for me.  The only other 1st year HC who would deserve it over Sirianni would be Brandon Staley but you an also argue the Chargers have far better talent than the Eagles.  Sirianni is doing more with less.

not anymore. Not ever.

Yes he may miss a hole. I noticed a glaring example once today.

But hes not a guy who loses yards.

Even today when he reversed field, he saw he wasnt going to get to turn the corner and he put his shoulder down and fell upfield. He pretty much always salvages something.

He runs patiently, and sometimes that isnt as effective as plowing forward immediately (goal line and short distance scenarios). But he does know when to just try to salvage a few when nothing opens in front of him. People think he loses yards frequently, and gets stopped for no gain frequently. Its just not true.

He had his best game as RB.  He also had 2 good catches of not necessarily easy passes.

He's been there for me.  He's been baiting in here before.  It's who he is.

So saying there is a political agenda keeping Hurts in place because he is black is a valid observation.

But acknowledging Racism is still very real is ‚baiting‘ and needs to be ignored?

Sigh. Yeah ok, it‘s who you are.

It was Miles Sanders most "bell cow" type game he's had.  24 carries!  That's the kid of commitment we need to a RB be it him or Jordan Howard.  It was nice to see.

This is life for most teams unless they have The Franchise.

Is it though? I mean sure if your starter is struggling it is natural to want to see the back up or someone different. But in Philly we seem to have a different and special relationship with the back up. I guess it is the under dog thing?

Open up your text books class. Today we are going to be talking about Critical QB Theory.

Anyone who doesn’t KNOW he isn’t the right guy by now is being too generous.

A win is a win, no complaint.  A few observations.

Both teams had no defense in the early going.  Both teams scored on each 3 processions.  The coaches game planned well for Minshews and played to his abilities and used the skilled players well.  The running plays worked well when the team was leading in score.

Sanders got his 100+ yards game.  But he was hurt and his durability could be a concern long term.  Gainswell did well too.  Both RBs caught the ball when it came to them.  Dallas had a good game.  Wonder why he was not targeted more in earlier games.  On the other hand, the WRs did not get many targets.  No long passes may due to the limits of the QB.

Kelce got hurt too.  Herbig is the next man up at C.  His snap over the head was bad, though no serious harm.  Who went in at RG for Herbig?

Singleton ran all over the field and got to the ball carriers, but bounced off but not able to take down the players.  Epps played well and got an INT.  On the goal-line defense, he met the ball carrier squarely and stopped the progress with help of a teammate.  Love to see him getting more PT.

The DL did not generate a lot of pressure.  Was quiet for most of the game, and got 2 sacks late in the game.  Cox has not been as dominating as in the past.  They need to address the DL in the off-season.

Someone saying they don't think he's the right guy makes them racist?

I know you will find this hard to believe in 2021 - but the majority of people dont care about the skin color of the athletes they root for. I know this goes against the narrative pushed by the progressive left.

Also absence of any factual evidence, you fall back to feelings, saying you are pretty sure it is rooted in racism. What is amazing is that, you say this, in spite of the facts that are clearly present, that Hurts is not very good at passing the ball.  You automatically bring race into it, rather than debate the merits of his play.

This is very telling about how you view the world.

Why not support him?  Nice kid, trying hard, team has been actively trying to trade for a QB, team ran Wentz out by being jerks, Howie isn't respected and acknowledged as a non football punk, Sirianni forced him to play a style for weeks that he can't play, but sure, it's all about the color of his skin.  For some I'm sure it is but to say it's the elephant in the room and saying it is due to how society is these days is, in my opinion, lacking in critical analysis.

I didn‘t say that. Almost certain that some of them are though.

Or do you think racism is just a myth?

Thinking this is a thing of the past that society has mostly solved is just naive.

There's some everywhere but I doubt it's even half of the fanbase that thinks that way

I supported him, I kept hoping he would improve, so far he has not.I  Agree he is a great guy. But we dont keep a person as the starter in the most important position of all of sports, when he hasn't progressed and has issues doing his basic job of distributing the ball, just because he is a great guy. That is unless you like to be perennial losers?

Claude Giroux stinks.  He is white.  I must be racist.
