Has there been any update/news on Smiths elbow injury? He had his lowest percentage of snaps yesterday with only 2 catches, wondering if the injury played a part in it.

For anybody that wants to see Hurts resume his starting role....why? Can you please explain your reasoning?

Whatever Minshew gave in the passing game + todays run game > whatever Hurts gives in the passing game + past few games run game.

Thats what it boils down to

Of course to my uneducated eye it looked like Minshew underthrew about half his passes. When it comes to "arm talent" he is no better than Hurts.

2 things:

1) The team will start Hurts, the only reason I can think o0f is because of the Front Office telling them to.

2) I can make an argument, that Hurts gives us the best chances to lose, and thus raise our draft stock. But if thats what we are doing, where is Sudfeld currently?

This is all you need to know about Hurts as a QB.  There were absolutely ZERO questions as to how the passing game might not be as effective (kind of important for a QB) and most takes are the ones below.  A lot of people were worried that by not having the quarterback play, the running game wouldn't be good.....not the passing game.  In fact the only questions to the passing game before the game was how it could look different with a quarterback who can execute Sirianni's offense.

Eh I think we all know the team will start Hurts. But I want to know why his supporters want that to happen.

We have a bad power player.  Because Giroux has been running it from the side wall for a decade.  He’s got to go.  Or dropped down and have the C taken off of him.  It’s well past time.

Play Tyree Jackson as QB1.  Problem solved.

Well, he is a miracle at TE so why not?

Chuck, Giroux, and Comcast as the owner of the Flyers all have to go.  Time the Flyers assemble a team that isn't stuck in Candian Bruiser hockey.

Yes, Minshew has a poor arm as well. But, he kept his eyes up when the rush came, which is something Hurts has really struggled with this year. And, I don't think Hurts "struggles" with it per se, I think his natural reaction to pressure is to drop his eyes and look to run. Minshew was still looking to pass.

He absolutely underthrew a bunch of balls, and yet is still a better passer than Hurts.

I said this yesterday.

"Make no mistake, I dont see MInshew as a long term answer. To me it was about exposing the fraud in Hurts, so we dont make a mistake and plan on Hurts being the long term answer."

I agree with this statement, but it isn't really saying much. However, the biggest thing is making the correct reads and throwing with anticipation. There were definitely some floaters Minshew threw, but he had a 80% completion percentage. It's the jets, they didn't prepare for Minshew, blah blah blah. This is the NFL and any given sunday you can be beat by any team, just ask the vikings.

This is partly true and I have no illusion that he is the guy.  But...he was able to make a couple nice throws moving to his left, two to Quez one which was a beauty and the other under thrown by 5 yards,  and his motion is so compact compared to Hurts.  But against a good team the 2nd TD to Goedert is likely defended or intercepted.

I wonder how much of that is a lack of familiarity with the targets. He’s been mostly the scout team QB and hasn’t had much time with Quez, Smith and Goedert.

While he doesn’t have a good arm, he at least processes well enough to make the right read.

That first kick off was the biggest hole I've ever seen, right up the middle. I have no idea what happened there, but it was definitely not a good way to start the game.

MInshew was exactly what I thought he was, a bigger version of the Detmer brothers (for you old timers), weaker arm than Hurts, but accurate for the most part and sees the field well. He basically dinked and dunked in a balanced scheme, but you could see the defense focused on stopping the run between the tackles. And you could see that the pass blocking is still a work in progress, Minshew had to move around a lot and get rid of the ball quickly.

But if you watched Wilson and Lawrence today, you also saw that a big arm doesn't compensate for a lack of football IQ or sloppy mechanics leading to bad throws.

The reason they'll stick with Hurts is he has more upside than Minshew, he might improve his passing, Minshew is not going to grow a stronger arm or faster legs.

And here it is!

Just as predicted!

Not half, but enough to be a thing.  The one to a wide open Watkins may have cost a TD.

Regarding arm talent, Wilson has a really nice arm.  A shame this franchise may ruin his career.

Not sure why this matters, as against similarly horrible teams like the Lions, Giants, Hurts was not good.

Minshew is probably one of the best back up QBs in the league honestly. I wouldn't want him either as the full time guy. But he gives our offense a much better shot than Hurts.

This is the key.

A lot of guys have had good NFL careers with average arm strength because they are great decision makers.

Average arm strength and slow processing is a bad combination.

Also I don't think the team wants to repeat the end of last season the S-show that ensued.  Regardless of which QB starts the rest of the season the Eagles know they don't have the guy.  And while the players obviously are behind and respect both guys, they also know.  They can support, speak of their admiration and respect for Hurts and Mustache, while understanding they aren't upper echelon QBs.  Infact, they just experienced what happens to a team when that doesn't happen so the best course of action for a cohesive locker room is to be supportive.

I didn't even know he was injured. I know he has the brace but I assumed it was like JJ Watt with his brace

This was my thought as well. He has very little chemistry with the receivers

Tocchet time.

Man, wish they would fire Chuck too.  Allowing him to remain will screw this team every single day he is the GM.  He sucks so bad.
