In this echo chamber of the EMB I don't think the racial angle is prevalent. On Twitter, it is very much so.

I thankfully have never been on Twitter.  I did get called a racist on YouTube though for not being supportive enough of Hurts when I was comparing him to Kyler Murray; I came away baffled from the exchange.

Neither has shown sustained superior performance.  Dak started his career with a strong running game he depended on and grew as that team put elite talent in front of him, putting up some gaudy numbers along the way.  Once again he needs to not melt down down the stretch and compete in the playoffs.  Wentz needs to stay healthy and compete in the playoffs too.

I think this is fair but I also think it's fair to say Dak is the better QB at this point.  He is more consistent.  He has had better talent and a better coordinator but he's an accurate passer with above average decision making.  It's also hard not to connect his team's performance with bad head coaching under Garrett. I also think about how Dak played in what essentially was a playoff game against the Eagles in 2019. He failed and played miserably.  If an Eagle QB had that kind of performance, he would be considered a choke artist.  I think it's fair to say he has come up short repeatedly in high pressure situations.   I mean Wentz has yet to win in the post-season but he's only had one opportunity on a team that wasn't that good offensively.  Dak has had 3 games and the Cowboys came up short in 2 of the games.  They were the more talented offensive unit in all 3 of the games.

The racial element is absolutely present in this thread.  It's very clear a number of posters in here have a strong personal dislike for Hurts simply because he is a young confident black male in a traditionally white male's role.

They are both cesspools

The Eagles are not as far off as everyone thinks. With this OL, add a few pieces, the Eagles if they had a legit QB could compete with anyone. Look at the best teams in the NFL these days, infinitely beatable.

It's why those scoffing at trading for Wilson because "the Eagles are so far away" is nonsense.

Put Wilson on this team, add another quality WR, and find a way to add a safety and a pass rusher either in free agency or draft and the Eagles could go toe to toe with anyone. This OL is very good and any elite QB would thrive behind this line.

No, the defense would be exposed once they got to the 8-9 win level and were taken more seriously, that's why so many teams falter getting to 10-11 wins.

They absolutely have to make defense the off season priority, and find a reliable possession receiver.

Gotta walk before you run.

Lol HonestNFL coming with the "Hurts is basically a rookie" line in 3, 2....

Maybe because Minshew is a legit NFL QB and Hurts isnt.

You have it backwards, the racial element is exposed by those who think Hurts' race has anything to do with him starting over Minshew.

Minshew has no upside, he's a solid backup caretaker QB who could win on the right team (running game, top ten defense), but he's not going to beat good defenses without a lot of help.

Hurts has more upside (the probability of him reaching it ???) because if he was just a solid caretaker type passing QB, his running would make him special. The way Minshew would be starting if he could run (and had the body) of Hurts.

I have no option to make this for money other than the money you can win from ESPN if you have a perfect pick em. So if anyone wants to set up something different go ahead.

Draft Kings only had options to set up pools for other stuff and the look stupid. And ESPN has no entry fees.

So now all these wins and stats accumulated that you were building your argument on with Jalen hurts shouldn’t be taken seriously because other teams didn’t take the Eagles more seriously during those times. So how do I take hurts’ performance seriously when other teams were taking them less seriously then they should’ve during this time.

So false.

I dislike him because QB's should be better at throwing the ball than running it.  Running is Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, Jordan Howard and Kenny Gainwell's  job.  Jalen Hurts job is to pass the ball.

I can see why Zach Wilson went as high as he did, his arm is elite. But man, he needs to work with a QB guru this offseason to work on some touch. He was rifling every single pass like he was trying to kill someone.

He reminds me a lot of Jeff George.

More of the same.  Media folk don't even want to consider Minshew.  Hurts is the guy, no questions asked....until the draft when they might replace him.  Makes a ton of sense.

Don't any of them realize that knowing what the Eagles have in Sirianni's offense and their playmakers (Smith, Goedert, Watkins, Gainwell, Sanders and even Reagor) should be the bigger question instead of can Hurts magically start seeing the field in the four remaining games?

In his opening press conference, Sirianni said that call your plays to take advantage of what your players do best.  In a sense he's doing that with the running game but he's also doing the complete opposite.  He did a complete 180 in terms of his play calling because of his quarterbacks weaknesses which are throwing the ball.  The best thing Sirianni has done this year was completely tweak his offense to fit Hurts passing deficiency's and his running ability.  Sirianni's offense didn't all of the sudden click.

This is sarcasm of course but it does seem when any Eagles player does something good or plays well for several games there is always a, "yeah but......"

It's racist to Kyler Murray to call him Jalen Hurts.

Zach Wilson is an example of a QB on the wrong team.  He needs a vibrant offensive mind to be around to just absorb concepts.  SF, LAR, even the Eagles would be better fits.

And continue to ignore the defense?   It isn't nonsense to continually watch this team with so many holes on defense and think what a difference 3 first round picks could do to the unit.

They could easily add a starter at DE, S and LB if they pick the right guys.  They could add a S and DE in FA and STILL use the first 3 picks on defense and I would be happy.  They've ignored or drafted poorly on that side of the ball for far too long.  I don't want to give up the chance to rebuild the core of the defense for a 2-3 year rental of a veteran QB who is going to hamper the cap even more than it currently is.
