The other side is anything under 19 is underweight which can be just as unhealthy. If we were to go by BMI rules, how many NFL players at skilled positions would be considered obese? Boston Scott is 5-6 203 lbs. His BMI is 32. Under BMI rules, he's obese. Kenny Gainwell is 5-9 200 lbs. BMI of 30. Obese. Jalen Hurts. 6-1 223. His BMI is borderline 30...obese. Your facts exist. But you are taking the purpose of this framework out of context. Doctors don't have a serious conversation about weight and show this table to healthy athletes. It doesn't apply to them. BMI is an appropriate tool for addressing obesity.

It CAN be, however what BMI doesn't take in to consideration is muscle mass, bone density, water weight and so on. Even us "regular" guys can measure obese without knowing it. I'm 5-10 225. I'm an avid weight lifter. While I do have some fat in my midsection which I'd love to lose, it's nothing you would look at and say that guy is obese. Fellas, get yourself a smart scale if you're curious.

Not looking to go much below that... not even sure I could. I'm 6'4", so I want to be realistic. We'll see what happens when I hit 220.

Thank you! It wasn’t easy, but if sharing my story helps someone, then it’s worth the little bit of embarrassment/anxiety. For the longest time, I had no support system, and that’s part of the reason it took me so long to get help — I felt like my life didn’t matter. It wasn’t until I started getting encouragement and support from my friends/some family that I truly felt accepted, which in turn made me want to change my life.

According to BMI Barry Sanders was obese as he was 5'8" and 200 lbs for a 31 BMI. I took my eight year old son in for his yearly check up and one of the measure they still use is BMI, it's just such an outdated measure that is a horrible way to guage someone's health Pay attention to heart rate, blood pressure, cholesterol levels. If one has a 35 BMI score but has low BP low standing heart rate and low bad cholesterol than who cares if one is heavy?
September 13, 20214 yr Good win yesterday. Great that two rookies got their first TD in their NFL debut. One observation: they keep calling for the same player for a few plays in the early going to Smith, Gainwell and Watkins. Perhaps to bump up their confidence and/or stats. That could become predictable for the defense. Mix them up could be more effective, IMHO. Encouraged that the young players, e.g. William DL and the CB, got to play in real game. Many coaches would not do that. This approach helps the players' development, and this coaching staff is true to their teaching emphasis.

And while I’m supportive of anyone trying to change their lives for the better, this has been bothering the f*** out of me lately. I’ve lost close to 70 pounds since I started my weight-loss journey back in March, yet I still struggle with self-acceptance/confidence partly because this whole movement likes to neglect men for some reason. Sure, there might be a few people who "acknowledge” us, but where are our magazine covers and clothing commercials? It’s not right. I’d also like to point out that other factors contribute to obesity. I, for one, struggle with depression and anxiety disorders. I also grew up in a home that liked to reward with food at an early age. A lot of people assume we’re all just fat, lazy slobs, but that’s not the case. A lot of us struggle with something deeper. A lot of us know our lifestyle choices aren’t healthy and want to change. But sadly, some don’t. Some of us also kill ourselves because of the torment other people inflict upon us. We’re not here to be ridiculed and judged. Most of us just need one person to be supportive rather than judgmental. Kindness works miracles, I tell you. Lastly, and I can’t speak for all of us, but I have never expected nor wanted anyone to "celebrate my fatness.” All I have ever wanted is to be treated with respect. Congrats!

There's a Michael moore documentary called, where to invade next, Now whether one is a Michael Moore fan or not is beside the point. The premise if this documentary is he goes to different countries and finds something that country is particularly good at it is effective and proposes that we in the US should adopt it. One country he went to the public schools and to lunch with the kids and it was amazing the food these kids ate and the funding the country put towards school lunch and even the way they eat school lunch If one hasn't watched the movie I'd recommend it, And I'd be a proponent of a similar model in the US

September 13, 20214 yr Jalen Hurts is noticeably bigger than he was last year. I think he’s lost some speed with it. Not necessarily a big deal, but it’s something I thought is interesting.
September 13, 20214 yr After reading quotes from Eagles players and coaches, I zoomed in on one HUGE key word. In almost every individual interview of players and coaches, one word kept jumping out. That word is "WE". Nobody was saying "I did this and I did that.... it was WE. That's a huge key of how you win at ANY level.

Because of the contrast of light with the open roof (shadows and bright light interplay), the game looked dark on most televisions as the camera crew had to adjust the exposure and contrast settings, to even it out "in camera." You can't win in that situation, so you take what the defense gives you. 🤣
