Greatest bass player of all time?

Not sure if you've ever seen the bass player from Dream Theater but he's amazing.

I've been an Entwhistle man for years. I thought no one played a bass like he does, but McCartney can. I have not seen Dream Theater but I will check them out. Thank you!

P.S. I did a quick check and see he plays a 6-string bass and cites Entwhistle and Pastorius among his influencers. Looking forward to it.

Not to toot my own horn, but from the brief bass discussion early last month!

I do remember that. Not sure tooting your horn is the right metaphor, though.

Plucking that E string, then!

I‘ll vote Geddy Lee.

To me, the influencers need to be at or close to the top of the list.

Larry Graham and Bootsy Collins.

Entwhistle is awesome, I really like Steve Harris from Iron Maiden.

I'll have to check that out.  I have noticed a lot of video clips of the "get back" video showing up on my youtube.

Stop bullying me!

Not a big fan of Rush but they have some amazing musicians.  Neil Peart is one of the greatest drummers ever.

Yeah....that's not even up for debate.

Did you see RTK make a compelling ( not really ) case that Jimmy Chamberlin ( dude sucks ) of the Smashing Pumpkins is better that The Master.

Jefferson and DK, and NOT draft Hurts

He said that those who claim Hurts is IMPROVING, need to see this data.  Then he said that 'he's not improving'.

These two measurements sure don't indicate that he is improving.  But eagle45 never said that he was regressing.  You drew your own conclusion.

There are better stats to show passing efficiency: YPA, CPOE, PPG. Hell, QBR/Passer Rating are available

Using passing yards to show improvement/regression is either misleading or ignorant.

Watching the creation of "Let it Be" was amazing.

The entire catalog of quality music that came from Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and even Star, during and after the Beatles, goes unmatched in my book.   Clapton, Stones, probably comes closest.

Not arguing with that but I'd lean more towards Danny Carey.  I'm a huge Tool fan so I'm a little biased.

Danny is the only person that I would even mention in the conversation with Neil Peart

Pete Townsend is on that level.  Tommy, Quadrophenia....brilliance.

No I didn't.  That's ridiculous, and I love the Pumpkins.  I would believe that Bonham and Moon would round out a top 3?  As far as rock guys.  I am sure there is some obscure rando that some hipsters know about.  But I wouldn't.

Danny Carey is my #2
