Looking at how it all plays out I can see a scenario where if the Eagles win their next 3 to get to 9-7 that they will actually be able to rest their starters in week 18.  What other team of the potential wild cards for the 6th and 7th seed have a realistic chance of getting to 9 wins?  The Saints but even if the Saints finish 9-8 we would own the tie breaker over them so it isn't like we would have to play for the 6th seed over the 7th seed in that final week.

Maybe the 49ers if they steal one over the Titans or Bengals.  They could also lose those two games and potentially have an easy week 18 game if the Rams are out of the running for the NFC West in the final week but have that 5th seed locked up and rest their starters.

Why do the beats always run to Banner like he's the know it all of every subject?

He brings a different perspective than a lot of the other media "journalists" do. He knows the top 2 people that run this franchise very well and is familiar with their thinking. Yeah, a lot of it is common knowledge if you follow the Eagles closely, but he does bring up a perspective I don't think many other writers can offer.

Yep. And he's only the 7th or so C to make it in the modern era. Jeff Saturday has a comparable resume and I don't think he has even made semi-finalist yet.

You think Brent Celek gets in?

I guess so. I think he also like's feeling important and hearing himself talk.

If Kelce doesn't retire this year and continues to play at a high level for another 1-3 seasons he will have a chance.

Jeff Saturday was 2x 1st team all pro and 2x 2nd team all pro with 6 pro bowls.

Kelce is 3x 1st team all pro with 4 pro bowls.  He will make his 5th pro bowl this year and will almost surely be named either 1st or 2nd team all pro this year.

Oh yeah, he definitely does and sometimes goes too far. For me, I feel most of his takes are more about confirmation that the FO is probably aligned with what I’d like them to do. Nothing ground breaking but some interesting nuggets here and there.

How the hell has he only made 4 pro bowls?!?!

Am I reading his wiki right? Says he was 1st team all pro from 2017-2019 but no pro bowl for 2017 or 2018. So weird how the NFL does that.

I still don't think Kelce gets into the HoF unless they do one of those big dumps of past veterans they did a few years ago. And it's not to say he hasn't had a HoF career, just that the HoF is finnicky when it comes to C's.

So if you look up All-Pro in pro-football-reference or wikipedia, it includes AP and Sporting News and Pro Football Writers of America.

There have been 7 centers from the Super Bowl era inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.  All have been named to the Associated Press All-Pro First Team at least three times.image.png.78855484e0cb31548fac333cb0c3ed22.png

There is only one exception the 3-time rule…Forrest Blue.  Blue was a 1st-Team All-Pro Center from the San Francisco 49ers in 1971, 1972, and 1973.  He was a first-round selection from Auburn in 1968.  I followed football during that era.  I don’t remember him.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forrest_Blue

Kelce has 3 AP All-Pros.  Here are the guys at two, including Jeff Saturday...

He qualifies now, one more All-Pro makes him a lock.

Yep. Then makes it 2020 while the all-pro Corey Linsley wasn’t a pro-bowler. Pro bowls for linemen always seem to lag behind their actual good years, so when they do make it in it’s because of name recognition and not their actual play from that year.

I don’t know why or what weighs him down so much but he’s pretty low on their metric. If he gets a 4th all-pro first team I think it strengthens his resume that he gets in at some point, but I still think it will be awhile. I just think it’s one of those positions where there are a limit of players every year + a backlog of players that deserve to be in + O-linemen like T or G are more likely to get the recognition over a C.

I believe their metric factors in that Kelce's early years were fine, but not near probowl level.  He didn't become great until 2017.

No.  Because in the next 4 games,  there is no way Hurts is going to prove he going to be the guy for next year,  and further in to the future.

We have seen enough. There's noting else to be gained in 4 more games.

Even if he says it on camera with his right hand on The Bible folks will still call Howie incompetent for not trading for him.

One of his best years was in 2013, that’s why he was in the ‘14 Pro Bowl.  If he was a 1st round pick, at a minimum he gets 2nd team All Pro in ‘13.
If he gets a 4th this season plus he has a SB, it’s gonna be tough to keep him him out.

Ah yes, Facebook is where I go for my football news too!

Saints are starting Taysom Hill at QB again this Sunday, even with a mallet finger injury.

Talk about tanking — but sheer stupidity as well.  When do his escalators in his contract kick in for QB starts?
