I think people believe the eagles would just go all defense with those 3 firsts might wind up being surprised. I think there’s a chance they go defense with one of them and then go best available player which might be defense or offense. Wouldn’t be shocked at all if they use two firsts on DL and OL and trade the 3rd for future picks and picks in this draft. Also the eagles haven’t drafted a Lb in the first since 1979 (unless you consider Marcus smith a Lb which is arguable consider he was a DE coming out of Louisville). and a safety in the first since Roynell young who played corner (to start his career) and then some safety which was in 1980. So i don’t see that changing anytime soon with how the eagles philosophy is and roster building. I see them signing a safety in FA and maybe a linebacker in rounds 2-4.

I think Kelce retiring will play into it. If he goes, I wouldn't be shocked to see them take Linderbaum with one of those three picks.

It will be interesting to see how the Eagles come out of the bye week, and if they look fresh and efficient or slow and off. We all remember how well Reids teams would play after rest, but since then it has been downhill. Pederson was 1-4 coming off bye weeks, the only win coming in 2017.

Speaking of Doug, I'm interested to see if he gets a HC opportunity.

I'd say no and if Bieniemy finally gets a chance somewhere I can see Reid bringing Doug onto his staff.  We'll find out next month.

I think Doug would thrive as a high school coach. I don't think he's cut out for the pros or college. Remember when he was OC in KC, they had that season where they had no WR's catch a TD pass. That's unheard of. And we saw his struggles with the WRs here, once Reich left.

I agree.  Giving up all 3 1sts and then you also have to pay Wilson, Rodgers or Watson their contract on top of that.  Too much.

I forgot about their contracts

He led in deep throws last year too

I also think dillard is likely to get traded at some point. It’s not cause he sucks or i hate him either. He’s entering the last year of his contract. They arent going to exercise his 5th year option cause the rule change to the 5th year contract means it’s guaranteed as soon as it’s exercised. So hard time seeing them do that on a player who’s never played as a starter an entire year and at the money especially when he could just walk at the end of the year and get no value except him being strictly a backup LT. I see the eagles and stoutland drafting a developmental swing tackle in rounds 4-5 like they did with vaitai and using dillard to extra draft capital with how mailata is playing at LT and lane’s resurgence and being 31

Uh, Rodgers could've ran it in at the end of that game. Plenty of blame to be shared between him and Lafleur.

I would have to watch play again , but Devin White said Rodgers would not have got it in for the score

Russell Wilson might be the best deep passer in the NFL history, but he can't consistently hit 5 yard throws in the middle of the field.

This is false.

https://www.milehighreport.com/2021/5/29/22458368/throw-distance-proficiency-by-distance-among-starting-quarterbacks-2020

Since he entered the league through the end of the 2020 season, Russel Wilson completed 41.8 % of passes more than 25 yards down the field.  Doing some quick math, he has completed 67.3% of his passes under 25 yards.  I think he is OK.

C'mon man, of course White is gonna say that.

There's the play, at 1:30 of this vid. I think he woulda made it, or at least it would've been 4th and goal at like the 2 or 3.

My takeaway was it's in a QB's best interest to keep throws of 15+ yards under 20% of their total throws. I'm not sure what exactly you're arguing here?

That's fair. I do think it's QB-specific. I want Russell Wilson, Matt Stafford, Josh Allen, etc. pushing the ball downfield.

What we don't want is Tyrod Taylor: won't throw deep, and it's bad when he does.

Nobody is saying Howie won't due his due diligence.  He'll make calls on Wilson and Watson (if he settles his lawsuits), likely be less involved on Rodgers -- but he's hanging up the phone if SEA or HOU asks for all 3 first round picks.

The Rams paid too much for Stafford because they're completely sold out in win-now mode.  Most GMs aren't going to pay that price.

Or will he do his do diligence ?

How do you feel about Hurts numbers in this chart?

I don’t think he gets in after watching , White has 4.4 speed , Rodgers would get blasted before he gets in

it was already 4th and goal

So here's a question that may be dumb....but let's say the Eagles convince Dillard to sign on as a back-up. Do they still have to pay him whatever the rookie wage would be for that 5th year, or are they able to negotiate an entirely new contract? Because if he agrees to take less money and be a back up here, I'm not opposed to that, so long as the price is right.

AM PICKS

12: R1 P12 EDGE George Karlaftis - Purdue
13: R1 P13 DL Jordan Davis - Georgia
17: R1 P17 CB Ahmad Gardner - Cincinnati
45: R2 P13 LB Devin Lloyd - Utah
77: R3 P13 RB Zach Charbonnet - UCLA
115: R4 P13 G Ed Ingram - LSU
155: R5 P13 WR Romeo Doubs - Nevada
162: R5 P20 CB Kyler Gordon - Washington
174: R5 P32 EDGE Logan Hall - Houston
195: R6 P16 S Jalen Pitre - Baylor

I would be happy if they spend the top 4 picks on defense.  I would like to see how Karlaftis tests.  He gets off the ball quickly.  He kind of reminds me of Kerrigan.  I do think Davis would be a target as I think Gannon would like a more traditional NT type DT.

Gave this one try, no trades. Sure did NOT go as I expected. Really weird, felt like I was forced to make most of these picks.. Sure didn‘t want to go THAT heavy on OL, but BPA was just overwhelming. 😄

Please re-watch the play and don't take the defender's word for it. Of course White is going to say that, are you that dense?

The defender closest to the sideline is running towards the middle of the field as Rodgers is moving up. No chance he reverses direction and gets to him in the corner of the EZ. The other defender (appears to be White) actually collides with the WR and the defender moving towards the middle of the field. Rodgers easily gets in if he runs for the corner. And again, even IF they do get him before, it's going to be 4th and goal from the 1 or 2 yard line. Rodgers made a terrible decision there and they lost largely because of that.

He could do a deal where he signs an extension at backup money. I’m guessing he gets better money FA and a chance to start.  or the eagles can maneuver the money like they did with barnett on his fifth year option. I’d prefer they don’t do what they did with Barnett and his 5th year option.

Those 2 end zone defenders need to go 5 yards , Rodgers has to go 12 , not happening

They can just decline his option and sign him to a new deal.
