I wouldn't say Kelly was a massive failure.  Had two 10-6 seasons and won the division.  

Not even comparable to Petrino or Meyer if he quits in the coming weeks.

I would. Regression every season, had a one and done in San Fran, never won a playoff game. His gimmick took teams off guard but was quickly figured out.
