I'm pretty sure that is 100% what people are concerned about.   And it looks like this is his first read... which is another criticism.  Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't.

Yeah tough to tell if it was his first read, if so credit to Siri for scheming guys open and credit to Mr butter fingers for making a tough catch through contact.

I still need to see more from hurts, that WFT defense isn't good, if hurts bounces back against a Giants team that stymied him I would feel a bit better going forward with hurts but I'm still in wait and see mode with hurts.

Not ready to crown him not going to bury him either

Irrelevant.  Pro Bowl is much more a popularity contest than All-Pro.   That's not to say that All-Pro is flawless, but it's a better measurement than Pro Bowl.

Indeed. They should likely leave the voting to coaches, personnel people and maybe the press. The players and fans are unreliable in this regard.

Good play by hurts but making it harder than it needs to be by not taking the easy completion to the RB, for whatever reason Hurts seems to not want to throw outlet passes after watching Minshew have afair amount of success with them.

Maybe hurts can't see over Mailata but it's not like Minshew is reaching the top shelf either🤷‍♂️

I mean, don't we all know the Pro Bowl is a joke by now? And has been since....forever it feels like?

They need to bring back the QB challenge.

The best part of that play is Howard. If Hurts hit him early, he may have been able to turn the corner on that LB and get big yards. But Howard isn't a great pass catcher, so may not have been able to haul it in on his left and then quickly turn to get up field to his right.

But, what makes this a great play by him, is at the end of his route, instead of turning it upfield like a wheel route, he just sits down and allows that gap to form between him and Goedert. He doesn't drift upfield at all which would bring his defender with him. A lot of guys would lose patience there and start to go upfield, especially because if it was a called wheel route (and Goedert wasn't running into where the wheel would be) Howard looks like he would have been wide open.

Naw. I don't recall the last PB I watched. I don't care about the skills comps. It's all so boring.

Ok, Blog, do your thing.

The wind is blowing.  Hurts was a 55% passer over his previous 7 starts, he plays an efficient (overall) game to get a win over WFT, and with that one week the national media types are effusive in their praise again.

If Hurts is efficient enough to get 2 more wins over NYG and WFT and helps the Eagles get to 9 wins and maybe a playoff spot then I could go along with the view that he’s "done enough”.  If he stumbles against the Giants again or the offense as a whole stumbles over these last 3 games then I would not share Orlovsky’s view

As a game, yeah.  It's still an honor to get picked, though --- even if it has been watered down due to having it played before the Super Bowl instead of after.

The important thing is that 3 games remain on the schedule.  There's no need to proclaim the answer one way or the other.

I prefer to wait out the rest of the season, but I did post after the game that if he kept building on what he did Tuesday he deserved the nod for next year.

The way I see it, Hurts had one of his worst games vs the giants earlier. He responded by bouncing back with one of his best performances. That's what I was waiting to see --- would he continue trying to force things or would he learn from a bad game? To me, this was an important step in a young QB's career and he handled it well. Going back to last season, Wentz struggled to "bounce back" from a bad game ... so it's just nice to see our QB do it this year. Hurts isn't done growing and I expect he'll still have the occasional bad game, but now at least we know he can right the ship and get out of a funk. We also should all hope that any lessons learned from that bad game are not easily forgotten. So far, he's only had one start since that game and the team needs him to play just as well for the remainder of the season.

Hard to disagree. I think it's been a real rollercoaster of a year for Hurts. He's had some really good games with his feet, he's had some really good games with his arm and he's had some really bad games too. At this point I roll the dice with him next year but with 3 games to go that could change.

He responded after Siri yelled at him for starting off poorly.

No it isn't. It's a complete joke, from top to bottom. Nobody ever takes it seriously, except for an increasingly small minority it seems.

The only way noodle arm is the starter next year is if Jeff/Howie don't land their franchise quarterback this off season.

Sirianni scolded him after the fumble. I'm not sure what was said exactly, but I wouldn't say Hurts "started poorly." Nobody in their right mind is going to pin the INT on Hurts. That was a perfectly thrown pass that would have easily netted a first down. The team "started poorly."

Similar to the Broncos game.  Got yelled at for breaking the pocket too quickly... then sat in the pocket more.  Likely his best half of football as a pro QB.

Yes, the running game has carried the offense since they committed to it.

By that standard, write off Fields, Wilson and Lawrence, b/c they've looked much worse that Hurts, which suggests given their athletic talent, they're all brain dead. :smoke:

Ok no problem, literally none of them have impressed me at all. But theyre actually rookies, and they arent surrounded by at least marginal talent and coaching which you can say for Hurts....so at least you can justify giving them another year.

Adding to this, the drives we haven't scored on have often been derailed by our own mistakes rather than great plays by the defense. Drops, penalties and turnovers have been our problems, which is a function of a young offense.

There is so much to be excited about right now.
