Yup I think Gannon has dine ok with what little he has. His DEs are barely passable, Cox looks done, hargrave seeing more doubles, LBs are looked better but don't scare anyone and the eagles safeties are possibly worse position group in the league

The 3 corners have played well.

Gannon has coached above his circumstance

I think Gannon is that a bigger disadvantage when the offense where we have been putting capital into the offense for years now. The defense we’ve put less into draft wise. And when you look at our best player we’ve drafted in the last five years on defense might very well be Jalen mills. It’s not a very great competition because it’s between Jalen mills, Maddox and Josh sweat.

I see we have hit that time of the week for the blog after a good Hurts game where everyone begins to try to disect any play they can in order to find away to criticize and fill their hate quota.  Anything less than perfection from Hurts is an example of why he is terrible.

You got mad when Nick Foles won the Super Bowl because you were against him so much. You’re the last person who can criticize anyone for unjust criticism

I think the dialogue has been pretty fair and even handed

He played well, he also played against a short handed Redskins D that wasn't very good before they were short handed

Even at full strength, not much difference between the Jets and Skins.  In fact, they both give up the exact same 5.9 yards per play.

Yup and Howie will probably use his 3 first round picks on QB WR and OL.👎

Didnt know that, I knew the jets D was hot trash didn't know WFT was comparable.

Surprising because WFT actually have some talent on D the jets got nothin.

Where are the Giants at???

I’ve been saying for weeks now they aren’t going to use all three of those first round picks on defense. I don’t even think they use all three of those first round picks this year. That said this theory that somehow the Eagles are going to draft a safety and a linebacker with two of those picks is comical. This organization keeps showing you they don’t value those two positions highly enough to do that. They haven’t drafted a player who’s playing safety in the first round since 1980. He even drafted a Linebacker, a pure linebacker in the first round since 1979. This organization’s philosophy at those positions is they rather go out and pay safety then draft one in the first round. They’d rather go find a linebacker after the first round or find one in FA. And people saying well maybe go listen to sirianni and what gannon needs, Doug Peterson won a Super Bowl and he didn’t even get that type of pull. unless you really want to believe doug was the main factor in drafting hurts which personally i find humorous. Or that doug was really the reason behind us drafting reagor over Jefferson cause of speedzzz

Well, I guess Saints are getting eliminated from playoffs

They are lucky the game is on Monday but still don’t see either playing in that game. Siemian being out is likely a benefit though lol.

Yup it's sad and weird, in 2017 the eagles had near the most if not the most money allocated to safety, so they've shown they are willing to pay for safety but for whatever reason not draft them high🤔

LB is a whole other story, they don't draft them high or pay for them either.

Banner letting Trotter walk possibly cost them a Superbowl in 2002 2003.

I think this is a pretty good defensive draft and Howie will have an opportunity to draft some good defensive players in the First but I can't see him doing it and if he does it will most likely be a DT or DE.

I also don't think they use all 3 1st rounders, more than likely trade one for a future  1st which would smart if they can.

Miami continues to get every possible break.

We were 4-11-1 last year with Wentz at QB. Yes, we had injuries, but this year lost Graham, and our top 3 OGs (Seumalo, Brooks and Driscoll), Lane for a stretch of games, Sanders for a stretch of games, traded Ertz. So it's not like Sirianni was handed a lot more to work with.

It's a rebuild, people expecting Gannon to stop top QBs are dreaming, he has Slay, no safeties, no LBs who can cover (Edwards is smart, tough but limited and needs athletic OLBs , Taylor was coming on but . . .), a solid DL without an elite pass rusher. He's had to choose between being nickled and dimed to death or a quick decapitation. Just like Schwartz, he can stop the bad QBs but not the good ones b/c he doesn't have the horses - but he's doing a better job (Eagles faced a lot of bad QBs last season) with essentially the same personnel as last season.

2021:  ppg (15), ypp (5), ypa (5), NY/A (15), TO (28), Pressure % (21)

2020:  ppg (20), ypp (14), ypa (10), NY/A (20), TO (24), Pressure % (2)

Biggest difference is how the DL plays, one gap attack under Schwartz, 3/4 - 4/3 hybrid under Gannon. Gannon also gives up the short pass, which makes it hard to get pressure.

Hurts is a work in progress, but Eagles are 11th in points scored (13th in offense ppg), 9th in Y/P, 5th in yards per drive, 11th in points per drive.

Given where they started, a pretty solid season going into a draft with 3 1st rd picks, 3 5th rd picks, and a probable pick for Dillard (3rd?).

Who knows Im not going to count out a team that shutout Tom Brady just because they don't have a qb.

We'll see, coach if the year this year could be a bit different as maybe the voters factor in how well a coach has dealt with injuries and covid related roster changes, so far Payton as smackable as he is has done a good job getting his team ready to play through the chaos.

Yup. However if the saints defense can play as well as they did last Sunday (granted i think Bucs injuries factored into that) they can stay in that game. Miami’s offense isn’t exactly a juggernaut. Tua can keep them in the game kind of like he did against the jets. He had a really bad pick 6. And was bad early in that game. The dolphins offense when healthy isn’t great. I still take the dolphins but Monday night in the dome maybe the saints have a crazy defensive game.

Still need another safety.

I keep waiting for Kvon Wallace to arrive but I think that ship has sailed ☹️

We had more injuries last year than we did this year. Maddox got hurt. Mcleod got hurt. We lost slay multiple times during games. We lost brooks. We lost lane. We lost mailata. We lost peters and tried him at guard. We lost seumalo last year. Driscoll also got hurt. We had goedert get injured. We had ertz get injured. We had reagor get injured (before we knew he was a bust). We had desean get injured. We had miles sanders get injured. On top of that we had a head coach that before the season said he wouldn’t mind being fired and not being here anymore. Plus we had Carson Wentz not play well and also likely not want to be here. If you don’t think last year they didn’t have injuries and more issues as to why they were 4 win team then i don’t know what to tell you. Legitimately we have lost one starter on defense this year. It was Graham who is 33 years old but they shouldn’t be Fing relying on anymore if you drafted better. Additionally you drafted a guard/center that likely should’ve replaced brooks to start to save cap space as brooks never stays healthy anymore (which is still a concern cause in college Dickerson always got hurt too). And seumalo beginning to follow in those footsteps. Ditto for Driscoll. When each of one those guys continuously keeps getting hurt year after year at some point in time you shouldn’t rely on them to play all 17 games. Also some of these backups we have along the oline are now in year two and three so obviously if we’re doing a good job coaching them along the offensive line they should be progressing and shouldn’t be as bad as the year before.

Cracks me up. People are talking about Gannon and the Defense not being so bad, LOL

So let me get this straight. Against avg to good teams we get humiliated, worst looking defense in the league. But against bad teams they play "ok". That somehow makes Gannon seam hes not as bad as people first thought? Yea hes still bad. Until he starts using a better scheme he will always fail vs avg to good teams. Thats not a winning formula.

I love our offensive scheme. I like the run first offense. But with our current defensive scheme it will not win against passing offensive teams. We can not win a shoot out. You look at the teams in the past with our style offense that won, they had top defenses to go with it. Gannon will not get us even in the top 15 in defense.

Good god.  By the end of this weekend, none of our first round picks will be top 15.
