As I posted in the pro bowl thread, he is the best backup QB in the league, so pro bowl backup is appropriate.

Is he 1st alternate? 2nd?

I know Brady never plays in the pro-bowl, so 1st alternate might as well pack his bags.

OT: Pro bowl selections are a joke this year. Go look at lamar jackson and josh Allen and explain to me on what planet lamar deserved to even be a pro bowler? Also how Kyler murray is in over Matt Stafford meanwhile murray missed three weeks and been bad the last 3 weeks.

First alternate is likely Stafford. His numbers are ridiculous and the rams are 10-4. It’s a battle between cousins and hurts for the second.

Assumption is you are hitting on all three of those firsts and all can play up to a nfl starter level in year one. That’s not a given whatsoever nor should it be he expectation either as history has shown. Our track record picking defensively isn’t great to begin with since 2016. When we’ve had picks in the teens and 20s which we are likely looking at currently, we’ve not hit nearly as well either. So i look they have 3 that doesn’t mean they hit or those guys are capable starters from day one with where they are being selected in the first round. We’ve had guys like Barnett who really wasn’t a starter in year one picked at 14 and ditto with dillard who we traded up for. I actually don’t think it’s out of the question the eagles trade up to get a pass rusher they covet

also I’m not just drafting defense because i need defense. If there’s a center/guard we have ranked top 15 player falls to us at let’s say 18 and the next best defensive player is a safety who we have ranked 22nd I’m not passing up that lineman just cause we have a bigger need at safety currently. I’m not drafting strictly for need. I’m drafting best available player which hopefully coincides with my need. However once you start picking for need instead of best available you tend to pass up on players you regret down the road.

i would make that bet with you that the eagles either don’t use all 3 firsts, don’t take a safety and linebacker in the first round or use one of those 3 picks on an offensive player (assuming we use all 3)

Yes generally agree. There's so many variables between now and then. If Kelce returns, then I'm OK taking an o lineman later. If he retires, then Linderbaum is target #1.

Either way, sure, I'll bet you we use 3 firsts on defense. I actually think we likely trade one away, but for the sake of a bet, I'll say we use 3 firsts on defense.

I’d take linderbaum regardless if kelce returns next year if that were the scenario. That’s a talent i simply can’t pass up with kelce being 33. And i Fing love kelce. If he was younger i would begrudgingly pass up on him.

I’ll give you the out if they use all three picks the bet goes through and if they don’t it’s void.

theres no reason to take any OL so high when we have Stoutland, and a capable starter for all 5 positions next season even if Kelce is gone. Horrible use of resources.

A lot to be said for this, for sure.  Lane was a #4 overall, but Brooks was 3rd round, Kelce was 6th round, Mailata 7th round, Dickerson 2nd round, Seumalo 3rd round

Dillard didn't work out very well as a #22 the Eagles traded up for.

CEO, more like a Defensive Coordinator turned coach. Probably suits him best.

Not to mention we will also in the process block the rest of the NFL from getting a young QB.....genius.

Hurts is 6-7 this year behind a top 3 OL, top running game, and top 10 defense. I’m hardly ready to crown him anything.

Yeah you can settle on down with "top 10 defense." I know what the rankings are, but you also have eyes, sir.

Just to point out Stoutland nearly left last year. It’s not a given he just stays here and finishes the rest of his career here.

Also Dickerson hasn’t proven to be completely durable yet. The reason we got him where he did is his injury history. Maybe he does but I’m not banking on that quite yet. Driscoll also has proven he can’t stay healthy in his first two years. Seumalo has had back to back years of major injuries. Brooks is likely gone. And potentially kelce retiring. I don’t trust Driscoll who’s been on IR the last two years to start and finish a year. And seumalo is beginning to have the same issue and who knows how he or Dickerson transition to center at the nfl level. Much rather keep them at guard especially if linderbaum were available and was truly the best player available.

I am not passing up a potentially great OL just because we need defense and take a lesser player (and cause stoutland can coach) if that’s the case. I’m sure like dickerson’s talent (was first round if not for injuries) he’d love to get his hands on a player of linderbaum’s talent as well.

I’d be thrilled if we had linderbaum at center because i think he is going to be a pro bowl caliber center, Dickerson at LG and mailata at LT for the foreseeable future. That imo is 3 potential pro bowl caliber players on from center to LT. If linderbaum pans out to expectations and Dickerson stays healthy there might not be a better c-LG-LT combo in the league in 2 years

Yeah I do have eyes… and what I see in Jalen hurts is nothing special

I agree. 2nd round is fine IMO. You're getting talent, with a flaw that Stout can fix. If they didn't have a flaw, they'd be a 1st rounder.

Use all the resources on defense.

Imagin Hurts' trade value with a pro bowl on his resume... 🤑

Just to circle back to the earlier discussion. Solak takes the opposite view of Orlovsky.

It would be interesting to know how Hurts is coached. Is it a simple read the LB to make the throw? It really makes little sense for Jackson to have played it the way he did, letting a WR run right past him — even if he wants to bait the throw.

Maybe we’ll get our answer in week 17.

So let me ask you a question, let’s say they are picking at 15. A top 10 graded offensive player falls to them at 15. The next best defensive player is graded out as the 20th best player. You are taking that defensive player over the offensive player? If it were the opposite way around I’d say the same thing. I’m not taking, settling and selecting a lesser graded player cause one is a defensive player and the other is an offensive player. I’d prefer the defensive player considering the situation we are in. However sometimes the board doesn’t work that way.

This is probably the logic the espn guy had with us trading a first for cousins lol

I would have to think very long about continuing to be a fan if we gave a first for Cousins.

So is Hurts still "not improving”? Any more stats out there to help the attention-****s feel better about that hill they’re so DESPERATE to die upon?

I mean, the numbers support that he isnt, but okay.

I generally agree.  But if we are going to be this type of offense going forward, our #6 OL is more important than our #3 WR.

I have full confidence in Stoutland, but the framework of resource allocation will need to align with the offensive scheme.

I much rather go hurts than cousins. I think cousins puts you exactly where the Vikings are. Purgatory.
