News flash, most young QBs are awful. Wentz started strong then had 12 awful games as a 24 year old rookie, out of a pro style offense (albeit at I-AA).

Hurts is still only 23.

Mahomes sat as a rookie, then took over a loaded offense that had played together for years.

Herbert is one of the few who played well from the start of his career.

Derek Carr had QBR of 40.1 and 43.1 his first two seasons, didn't come into his own until his sixth season at 28 years old

Stafford was awful as a rookie, injured his second season, broke out his third season then flatlined for seven seasons.

Burrow was a 24 year old rookie, has taken a step up his second season, still inconsistent

Allen wasn't very good his first two seasons, took a step up his third season.

Dak hit the ground running.

Murray had a solid rookie season and has steadily improved

Goff was horrible as a rookie, stepped up his 2nd season, then couldn't take the next step.

Wilson hit the ground running as a 24 year old rookie

And those are the best QBs drafted the last ten years or so.

Give Tua credit, after a slow start he's turned his season around.

Jones v Hurts:  Rating 90.2 v 87.0, QBR 51.7 v 46.5, NYA 6.34 v 6.45.

Rest of the young QBs are playing worse than Hurts:

Jones, Mayfield, Darnold, Lawrence, Mills, Wilson, Fields.

Hmmm, Bears. Doug and Nick have a history ......

So did Hurts, mostly. If it applies to one, it applies to the other.

Herbert is one of the few who played well from the start of his career.

Yes.

Derek Carr had QBR of 40.1 and 43.1 his first two seasons, didn't come into his own until his sixth season at 28 years old

Carr had an abysmal team for an abysmal franchise. He tossed 32 TDs his second season, which would rank very highly on the Eagles all time list.

Stafford was awful as a rookie, injured his second season, broke out his third season then flatlined for seven seasons.

Burrow was a 24 year old rookie, has taken a step up his second season, still inconsistent

Burrow is 2nd in completion percentage, 6th in passing yards, 7th in TDs, 13th in QBR and 2nd in QB Rating. This is with a poor OL and coming off of a major injury. He's pretty easily a top 10 QB this season. Thats inconsistent?

Allen wasn't very good his first two seasons, took a step up his third season.

Allen, while not being great, was decent his second season. As it is, he had numbers comparable to Hurts on a worse team.

Dak hit the ground running.

Yes.

Murray had a solid rookie season and has steadily improved

Goff was horrible as a rookie, stepped up his 2nd season, then couldn't take the next step.

Wilson hit the ground running as a 24 year old rookie

The issue is those guys you name all showed they can make NFL level throws without having to hop step into them. The biggest issue though, by far for me, is the mental aspect and the mistakes Hurts makes. These are low level, basic intro to football mistakes that an NFL player should not be making. Stepping out of bounds on a free offsides play, running OOB on a 4th down, throwing it away on a 4th and goal, throwing a brutal INT in the red zone with only seconds remaining in the half, when a simple throwaway would have given us a FG opportunity, that likely plays a part is us coming back to win that game. I'm sure there's even more examples. All the penalties early in the year on the o-line for illegal man downfield, because Hurts didn't understand that he couldn't hold the ball on RPOs waiting for somebody to come open. They had to take those plays out of the playbook because he couldn't mentally understand how to run them. This is all stuff that should be figured out in college at the latest, but here were are with a 2nd year NFL player making Pop Warner level mistakes. That's why ultimately I don't want him for the future, the mental aspect, combined with his lack of arm talent.

Interesting comparison between the Bills and the 2010 Packers (SB Champions).

That Packers team had 6 losses by a total of 20 points (3,3,3,3,4,4).  Their average margin of victory was 17 points per game.

Aside from one blowout loss to the Colts, basically the same MO.  Close losses and convincing victories.

Looking forward to a playoff rematch between them and KC.

Yeah the mental, that is an area where all young QBs come in at a finished product with. There is no such thing as mental mistakes for young QBs, only for Hurts.

Same old same old for the echo chamber, hold Hurts to unrealistic expectations of perfection that no other young QB would be held to.  It's why there is so little legitimacy to people's constant complaining around here.

I'm curious.  Was Linderbaum still on the Board at #19?

Looking ahead at the schedule next year, we draw the AFC South, however we play AT Indy, unfortunately. We also draw the NFC North. Based on how things looks, we would then draw the Falcons if they end up finishing 2nd (game will be in Philly), or New Orleans if they take over 2nd.

We would also draw the Cardinals, in Arizona. And we would play the AFC North 2nd place team, in Philly, which is currently the Ravens, but could easily change to be any of the 4.

I've never seen other young QBs make those kind of mistakes. You know who made terrible mistakes like that? Dan Orlovsky, who ran out the back of the end zone for a safety. Insanely idiotic play. And probably a huge reason why he was a career backup. I can accept those kind of mistakes from a back up QB, which is ultimately what Hurts is, a very high end back up, but a starting QB at the professional level just doesn't make those kind of mistakes. How many RPOs at the start of the year got called back because Hurts decided to hold onto the ball too long, and his o-linemen ended up downfield by the time he threw it? But I'm sure you'll blame the o-lineman for that. It got so bad Sirianni had to remove those plays entirely. In fact, that's the entire story of the season. Sirianni constantly having to remove and change things to COMPENSATE for Hurts' shortcomings. Like passing the ball more than 20 times a game.

You've never seen young QBs make mistakes like that? Either you have bad memory, don't watch other young QBs or are being flatout dishonest.  It is extremely prevelant for young QBs to make mental mistakes.

Curious. Have you been boosted?

My symptoms started on Christmas, Took home test on Monday - Negative, took another on Tuesday- Came back Positive. I have had 2 doses but not my booster yet, my wife had her booster a month ago. We have not distanced, she is 100% fine so far.  This is day 4 for her.

I had a sore throat, runny nose, slight fever, chills and aches. I am down to Sinus congestion - regular type cold stuff. So not too bad. Fortunate.

Crazy - i had limited contact with anyone the week leading up to Christmas. A few family members (none of whom were or became sick) And a few coworkers, one who became sick, whose symptoms started a day after mine.

Stay safe!

I saw a stat this morning that 54% of Americans cannot read above a 6th grade level. I find that to be horribly sad.

Literally any and every young QB over the course of a season will have mental mistakes.
