It's a debate about Government funding for schools. The Government basically gives money for your kids to a school they say the kids must attend depending on where you live, unless you wish to move or pay to send them some where else. This of course means that a lot of underpriviligded children go to basic inner city school systems (where they dont always have a good opprtunity) As not all schools are created equal, and in fact it's quite glaring.

The school choice idea - the parents get to decide where their children go, (can pick a better school) and the Government pays that school the money for your child. The parent can choose what is best for their child.

This brings up the level of competition between schools to actually do a good job teaching, or fail and collapse altogether. To the very least allows you to choose out of a bad school system and into a better one so your child has an actual equal opportunity to learn no matter of your level of income.

Teachers unions are opposed to this.

I am not educated enough on this to really have an opinion.  But as far as the equal opportunity is concerned, I would suspect that the same families with the means and interest to send their kids outside of worse school districts now, will be the same families with the means and interest to find a way to transport their kid to a different, better school district further away with the school choice idea.

I'd LOVE  to see Drew Lock away Fangio and Shurmur. how Shumur keeps getting jobs is beyond me

Tbh i think they are done with drew lock as a starter. I think he’ll get another chance somewhere else but i think Denver goes all in to try for Wilson, rodgers or watson. If they strikeout probably draft a kid and go after someone like foles and let him play til he’s ready. They really also should go with an offensive minded coach cause i think you can find a good veteran defensive coordinator. They need a creative mind on offense. They have weapons in Sutton, jeudy, fant and Williams.

Why do we want schools to "fail or collapse altogether"?  This isn't cola wars.

We would all be better off if we raised up the schools at the bottom instead of pushing the schools already at the top farther up.

It's a bit more complex than that. Big city school systems are probably "too big" and bureaucratic, but many of the claims made for charter schools are exaggerated.

It hard to find good studies that account for self-selection bias, that is, even when there's a lottery among applicants, the applicant pool self-selects for brighter students and motivated parents, while some charter schools are notorious for screening out or pushing out students with behavioral issues, learning disabilities or other conditions that would lower test scores or require committing more resources to those students. This of course will inflate the performance of charter schools.

Complete leap. Considering the furthest Garcia ever got in the playoffs was the divisional round. So apparently making it to the divisional round is almost the super bowl. Just saying kirk cousins and baker mayfield got the Vikings and browns to the divisional round so does that mean he almost got them back to the super bowl? Please

Objection. Argumentative. Looking at the precedence of the ruling on Alshon v New Orleans it's been established that as long as you are in the divisional round you can rewrite history that you were on the doorsteps of being in and winning the Super Bowl regardless of the context.

Pushing schools at the top further up should absolutely be a priority, unless we want to import all our engineers and scientists from Southeast Asia.

Looking ahead at the schedule next year, we draw the AFC South, however we play AT Indy, unfortunately. We also draw the NFC North. Based on how things looks, we would then draw the Falcons if they end up finishing 2nd (game will be in Philly), or New Orleans if they take over 2nd.

We would also draw the Cardinals, in Arizona. And we would play the AFC North 2nd place team, in Philly, which is currently the Ravens, but could easily change to be any of the 4.

The NFC North isn't a bad draw.  The AFC South is probably going to be tougher with the Titans and Colts.  I think the Jags and Texans should also be improved.  Cardinals will be tough as would the Rams.  My guess is it will be Ravens but the Steelers are not going away.  The Saints with Russell Wilson would be a tough match up but who knows if he will end up there or somewhere else.

My hope for next season is the defense has a young core with talented players at every level.  It would be great if it looks like a top 10 defense in terms of PPG.  I think Hurts isn't likely to show significant improvement.  I am not completely dismissing the idea he could be an above average starting QB.  I just don't expect it.  My hope is that they miss the playoffs next season if Hurts doesn't significantly progress as a passing QB.  I think that's when they need to look at putting significant assets to addressing the QB.

Milton Williams will take a big step in year 2. Short area quickness in a strong DT means OL are put off balance in footwork. In a position based on leverage, that's killer. Partly why Aaron Donald dominates.

Yeah I'll be excited to see his development next year. Seems to have everything you want in a 3T other than about an inch or 2 of arm length.

I’m pulling for the cardinals to play the eagles out here as i missed the game last year due to Covid. Looking likely with the cardinals in free fall and likely to finish in second place.

He said he should have been first ballot. Nah.

After seeing with what NS can do with these weapons and Hurts, I'd love to see what he could do with the Bronco's group.

If Im Lock I'm taking a pay cut to go work with a good OC. Similar to what Trubisky did

Really no need for lock to take a pay cut. He’s on a rookie contract with 1 year left. I’m guessing Denver Will likely deal him to someone who wants a backup QB that could potentially start in a pinch. Especially with Covid and how things have played out.

Then you should have no problem showing us some.

Sure thing.  One thing sorings right to mind was Foles in his second season against the Saints in the playoffs.  Eagles had the ball 2nd down at the Saints 23 yard line. Right at the start of the play DeSean is open to the right on a quick hitch that would have been good enough for a near first down or all he needed to do was make one guy miss after the catch and it could have been an even bigger gain.  Instead Foles keeps holding onto the ball and bakc pedaling for what felt like near 10 seconds, never once opting to throw the ball away and instead he took a really really really bad sack that took the Eagles back to the 34 yard line. B two plays later Henery then misses a now very long field goal.

You answered the question from the perspective of the team.  What I was hoping to elicit with the question was the personal feelings of the individual members of the Blog.

Regarding your return question, it really depends on what the alternative to Hurts is.  I don't think you move on from him until you have that replacement identified and acquired.

I would agree on the second part.

My own personal feelings?  I lived through Cunningham already, and I don't believe an offense (nor team) can win a championship if the QB is designed to be a primary playmaker in the offense.  The QB needs to be a distributor of the football IMO and allow others to make plays.  That's just my own personal bias.  The QB as the playmaker is too easily shut down.

Because young QBs are prone to making mental mistakes.

News flash, most young QBs are awful. Wentz started strong then had 12 awful games as a 24 year old rookie, out of a pro style offense (albeit at I-AA).

Hurts is still only 23.

Mahomes sat as a rookie, then took over a loaded offense that had played together for years.

Herbert is one of the few who played well from the start of his career.

Derek Carr had QBR of 40.1 and 43.1 his first two seasons, didn't come into his own until his sixth season at 28 years old

Stafford was awful as a rookie, injured his second season, broke out his third season then flatlined for seven seasons.

Burrow was a 24 year old rookie, has taken a step up his second season, still inconsistent

Allen wasn't very good his first two seasons, took a step up his third season.

Dak hit the ground running.

Murray had a solid rookie season and has steadily improved

Goff was horrible as a rookie, stepped up his 2nd season, then couldn't take the next step.

Wilson hit the ground running as a 24 year old rookie

And those are the best QBs drafted the last ten years or so.

Give Tua credit, after a slow start he's turned his season around.

Jones v Hurts:  Rating 90.2 v 87.0, QBR 51.7 v 46.5, NYA 6.34 v 6.45.

Rest of the young QBs are playing worse than Hurts:

Jones, Mayfield, Darnold, Lawrence, Mills, Wilson, Fields.

Give it a rest.
