Why is it OK for other players to bail before bowl games, but not the QB ??

QB is the leader of the team.  I don't like it when other players do it either.  Sends a real bad message for the apparent leader of the team when they bail.

I would assume that all players entering the draft will skip their bowls at some point in the near future.  What's going to stop them from skipping regular season games as well?  There really isn't much that can be done to stop this problem other than paying players directly for playing.

Kelce is fuxking awesome isn’t he

I tend to agree.  Maybe it's the year but I almost always have a bowl game on from the smallest one up to the Championship game.  I watched my first bowl game yesterday.  I love college football too.  I've just been off in following like I usually do this year.

Several reasons and its been declining for some time and certainly more so ever since the playoff started but the final straw is all the players deciding not to play so they don't get hurt.  I think it can survive with backups and players that will start the following year plus some good and liked seniors who just don't have a shot in the pros but it will never again be what it once was years ago.

So we just moved into our new house. I got one corner of the bedroom.........

That's it. Made the most of it.

It's hard to judge college QBs against most college defenses, b/c they get too many easy thorws

Ridder got exposed against a good defense, he stared down his first read, which is why he had so many passes deflected.

So, did playing against Alabama help Ridder’s draft stock …. or hinder it?  If we’re to assume it hindered it, then why would Pickett risk injury and a worse than already exhibited performance through the season for one game against MSU?

These guys are making their first big business decision and they’re not making it alone.  Pickett is almost assuredly a 1st round pick based on the work he’s put out there already

Yes. As much as it doesn’t mesh with our desire as fans, this is all a business. College football is simply catching up to what happened to college hoops.

almost nothing to gain, and plenty to loose.

Has there been any instance though of a QB skipping out on a bowl game to prepare for the draft?

It came on right after the Georgia-Michigan game on ESPN.  I though it was live.

When an NFL GM cares if a player decides to play in a meaningless games, then it’ll matter. I’m sure if Pickett did get injured, you’d have no issue sending him the money he lost in the draft, good for you. I’m glad all fans that feel the way you do are willing to compensate him and his family for his loss. If you’re not willing to compensate him, well that would make you a hypocrite.

Btw, Carson Strong opted out as well, but no one is stupid enough to rip him.

Dude is a Jared Allen clone...he's gonna be a helluva NFL player.  I don't get that comment either.

What I came away with from that game wasn't so much Ridder as it was that Alabama has an offense built to help a QB.  I think Bryce Young is very overrated and Robinson and the running game carried Bama last night.  Young is far too slight to be anything as a QB at the next level.

A RB I posted about yesterday, likely late rounder Chris Rodriguez Jr is running against the Iowa defense right now.

For anyone doubting Hutchinson after 1 game, review this lesson on AJ Terrell. One of my guys. And anytime I posted about him, someone brought up the game against LSU and how Chase dominated him.

One game does not make a career. Terrell was still a hell of a player and prospect. Hutchinson is still a hell of a prospect.

I’d bet he still goes to Detroit wherever they pick

Screw his draft stock, they all should play because they are part of a team. I hate when guys do it too. Be a competitor.

He played in a pro style offense, made the line calls, that is, even though he didn't play top opposition, he did everything he would have to do in the pros.

Few college QBs do so.

Jamie Newman played in and was MVP of the 2018 Birmingham, then he played ok in 2019’s Pinstripe Bowl, he transferred to Georgia, opted out in 2020 due to Covid, and he didn’t get drafted, even though he showed commitment.
Kyle Hamilton opted out, and if he didn’t, he would be considered an idiot, see Jaylon Smith.
Anyone willing to cough up the money these kids can lose by playing and getting injured, have at it.  If not, stop being a hypocrite.

Corker, a lot of experience at safety - not bad PD stats.

Seems to me that you made your bed there bro...

The sign says, "All I need is :Eagle_smiley: football and my dog."    Be glad you aren't stuck in the dog house with the dog.   :P.

Congrats on the new home.

Oklahoma State always has above average QB but not good enough QBs it seems.   Always like watching them play.

Few college QBs do so.

Strong does the same except he sets the entire protection, including the primary receiver, (something Hurts still can’t do)  although he’s not in a pro style offense unless he plays for Kingsbury, but his competition was way better than Wentz’s.  TBF, he also played with a 3rd - 4th round receiver as well.

Whipple’s offense at Pitt and Kiffin’s at Ole Miss, could both be considered current pro style offenses, except that Whipple uses different terminology and a little more Run & Shoot concepts with Air Raid but all NFL teams are now a variation of the same thing except for Belichick and Arians. The Eagles and Colts both use it in their passing games but can’t execute it with the talent they have so they run the ball instead.
