I thought Mailata, Seumalo, and Kelce were all better than Lane and Brooks on Sunday. Brooks in particular looked slow. It's understandable and he'll get better. They play like that andstay healthy, Dickerson might never see the field this season.

For Dickerson to see the field he'd either need to supplant Seumalo or wait until next season and possibly replace Kelce.

I look at Brooks' and Lane's contracts and can't figure out how they can effective get out of either of them.  And based on this past Sunday, why in the world would we want Kelce to retire?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't see any reason why we can't beat the 49ers. We're going to be juiced at home. This is a back to back west coast trip for SF, so while the 49ers stayed on the East coast are not in their regular practice facility. They couldn't stop Jared Goff because their CBs are hurt/bad and they're going to stop us?

The question I have is whether Gannon will adopt Schwartz' schemes. Schwartz OWNED Shanahan. Every time. I want to see some Wide-9 on Sunday.

Gannon hinted at "multiplicity" this week....he's got something up his sleeve

The OL plays at high level is a strength of this offense.  Stay healthy and generate some continuity will be great.

Give Dickerson all the time he needs to get 100% healthy.  Maybe some plays the last few games of the season to get the feel of real NFL games.  No needs to rush back.

It’s pretty amazing when you think about it that the Eagles oline hasn’t had all five starters play as a unit since Lane Johnson got hurt in the 2019 season. Even down the stretch in 2019 you forget vaitai was playing tackle and Brooks got hurt vs. the giants week 17.

Their message suggest the possibility of weeks but there is no way to contact them for confirmation.  Been using condensed games but it isn’t the same. Makes no sense if they delivered to the teams that it cannot be delivered to the customers.

I keep thinking of the Rams game last season.  Motion, play action, and receivers running right past our confused LBs.

I don't believe we've beaten Shanahan with Jimmy G.  I am skeptical of how our back seven will preform against a capable offense.

I agree. I am displeased.

You aren’t alone. I thought they should’ve left him on NFI to start the season and let him recover a little more from his injury. It happened in December and he’s had so many injuries in the past. With him having so many injuries i just would’ve been more cautious and just given him the extended time to heal. I’m hoping they don’t have to use him this year because it means everyone stayed healthy

It isn’t about playing for Dickerson, it is about practice. He hasn’t practiced with the team throughout the PS.  If they left him on NFI, he couldn’t practice with the team until week 6. I think when they selected Dickerson, they didn’t really fathom what Herbig was doing to reshape himself.  I suspect he is stronger and maybe shave a few tenths off his forty time now.  Regardless, Dickerson is a better athlete and is probably targeted as the active back up C/G at some point this year.

Speaking of OL.  It is interesting that Herbig, Dillard and Toth all saw snaps on the PAT/FG teams.  Gets them some live snaps and keeps them in playing shape.  Scott, Ward and JJAW were all participants in STs as well.  Sirriani used every active player.  Smart use of the roster.

The game for the most part is a blur to me , but from what I remember, Maddox had a good game.

True.

The Rams' WRs >>>>> SF WRs. We couldn't match up.

Eagles 27, 49ers 23

Eagles struggle again with allowing rushing yards but make timely stops and mostly hold up in the red zone.

Bold prediction: Jack Stoll scores a TD

@LeanMeanGM

Pipe dream but if Vikings start off 0-4 (they play Cardinals, Seahawks, Browns the next 3 games) any chance they might consider dealing Eric Kendricks?  What do you think his price tag as far as compensation would be and would you do it?

I am actually fine with him not practicing over that time. He sustained that injury on December 19. He didn’t have the surgery to fix it until around December 28th (based of what i could find). So that’s less than 9 months since he’s had the surgery and recovered. I would’ve taken the long view and been ok with him not practicing for the first 6 weeks as he would’ve been just over 9 months removed from the injury when he could. The only reason why I’d be ok with it was due to the fact he’s had so many injuries I’m being more cautious with him then rushing him back too soon. If this was his first injury then I’d been more willing to bring him back early. But when you have a kid that’s been injury prone in his college career i want to be more cautious and take it a little more slowly.

@LeanMeanGM

Eagles 26, 49ers 13.  Our defense forces 3 turnovers and Quez gets a TD of 50+ yards.

You’re funny.  Let’s address that.  Federal cheese. program.  Great product but difficult distribution.  Government surplus peanut butter was the best you could ever eat.  I think some government surplus foods still exist. But distribution is a problem. That is why they never offered fresh milk but rather powdered milk.  The logistics for fresh food is incredibly hard.

The point behind the original SNAP in 1933 and the Food Stamp Act in 1939 was to distribute food surpluses while helping keep prices for sustainable farming in place to those in need of food.  In the original program the recipient purchase orange stamps for a dollar that could be used for food and household goods like soap.  In addition to orange stamps, they got $.50 in blue stamps for every orange stamp that could be used on designated surplus foods like beans, meat, eggs, and fresh vegetables.  There is a reason it was under the the Department of Agriculture.  Help farmers and the poor. Would arguably be a focus on the type of food you suggest.

When food stamps were reintroduced in 1961, the tie to food surplus was eliminated.  So processed foods (quicker and easier to cook) became the norm. Bad idea, if you ask me.  Discouraged fresher non processed foods and does nothing to support farm prices.

Niners 27, Eagles 20

IMO the 49ers are one of the 2-3 best teams in the NFC; if the Eagles could get a win in this one it would be a real eye-opener for the rest of the league.  I'm much more confident they will play them well and be a close game.  Kittle is a beast, and the Niners' front 7 is a completely different animal than the Falcons.  As the saying goes -- this is the real test.

Bold prediction:  Miles Sanders rushes for 110+ yards.

You never know.  The narrative ever since last season ended was there was no way Ertz is an Eagle this year and guess what, here he is starting.  Is he an Eagle because he truly bought in to Sirianni and the new culture being build around Jalen Hurts, or is he an Eagle only because Howie can't get more than a 5th for him?  We don't know.

Maybe, just maybe, the culture that DP had built with Carson just grew incredibly stale and Ertz and Kelce (Wentz's best buds) thought they needed to go if the changes included getting rid of Carson.  However, Hurts has taken this team and become a leader of men at his young age, and Sirianni could be on to something with the way he handles his team.  Maybe Ertz and Kelce have totally bought in to the new way of things being done here.  Even the biggest Carson supporters (I'm one of them) can't deny that there appears to be a total lack of drama surrounding this team for the first time in what seems to be 3 years.  That has to be refreshing for everyone in the locker room.

Kelce looked dominant on Sunday.  He hasn't looked that good in some time.  The thing with Kelce is that he doesn't need the NFL.  He's going to have a long post-NFL career weather it's in the booth, as analyst or some other entrepreneurial idea he has.  Walking away from the game healthy is important for him.  My gut tells me that the Eagles surprise a lot this year and either make the Wild Card or just miss the playoffs.  Kelce see this as one last opportunity to make a run with a young QB and WR group.  Howie/Siranni talk to Kelce, rework his contract and trade Brandon Brooks.  Dickerson is plugged in at RG while Kelce gives us another 2 years.

If the Eagles were going to trade for an expensive LB, it'd be Jordan Hicks for like a 2023 7th. No way they're giving up anything of value for a 29-year-old LB. Even if they shock everybody and start 7-0, they aren't doing that.

Whole Foods is a retailer.  The actual logistics are much more complex than most retailers deal with and as it happens, Whole Foods is owned by one of the largest logistics operations on the planet.  The fact is that the waste factor on fresh foods is tremendous. Maybe look at where you fresh produce is produced.  It says it right on the little sticker.  In the last month we have gone from blueberries from Maine and Michigan to California and are about a month or two away from Mexico and Chile.  Right now the cantaloupe are from Colorado.  Soon warmer climates and south of the border.  Now non American products were not the focus of the original Food Stamp program. Should it be now?  You started with the premise of why not give away fresh food instead of money.  I mentioned the original Food Stamp program which did focus on surplus agricultural products.  There was literally a list of products that could be purchased with the blue stamps.  That morphed into SNAP, with very limited restrictions on what food could be purchased with the stamps and now cards.  Surplus is difficult to store and distribute.   Produce just doesn’t keep. Dairy and meats require refrigeration. The logistics of giving fresh are difficult.  So we have SNAP and let the consumer decide what to purchase.

Nah. They can go to Whole Foods to pick up fresh food.
