Can't blame Hurts for this one.

What? Yes you can. 7 points at half against this defense is not good enough. He’s the QB.

I really like Sirianni, but cripes does he make some brutal game day choices. There is no rhyme or reason to them.

Agreed.  I think this is part of his maturation process.  I can live with it from a first year HC.  Next year, he needs to be smarter than this.   He should have been grateful for the score being 13-7 going into half and getting the 2nd half kickoff.  Instead he got greedy.  Same with the opening drive... had 3 points staring at him, and he decided to get greedy.   Should be 13-10 right now.  Instead its 16-7.  That's a 6 point swing that falls squarely on Sirianni's decision making.

(The flip side is, he could have been more conservative and kicked the FG instead of going for it at the goal line.   Then the score would be 13-6 instead.   But, personally, I see going for it on 4th down inside the 5 as a smarter attempt due to the field position flip, versus going for it on 4th at the 20.).

Not yet 😉

It does highlight the lack of difference makes on the D though.  It's being pushed around a lot

Hurts hasn't played bad, but 7 points in a half isn't going to cut it.

Having said that, the defense isn't doing anyone any favors either.

He isn't processing stuff quick enough. Example in the first drive, Goedert goes in motion, no one follows him, this means it's zone, you could see HUrts was confused, he moves toward the line to make a call, then realizes he only has 2 seconds left on the playclock, he then decides to snap the ball anyway, and immediately bails from the pocket to his right because he did not know what to do. And threw the ball away.

AGain on the first drive - On another play he choose to throw to his right to Quez when Smith was WIDE OPEN behind him heading towards the end zone

He is 100% hurting this team.

DE is a top need

It's a massive need.  Lindebaum sounds a nice player, but this D is pitiful depth wise

Both offense and defense weren't good in the first half IMO

Offense wasnt too bad. But hasnt had the ball enough. Defense is killing this team.

Lots of missed opportunities by Hurts

Washington wanted to take the game into half and they bailed them out calling a timeout before the 3rd and 1.

He forgot who is defensive coordinator was.

Context

I provided it. 1 play. so, not force feeding at all.

Link for the game?

I'd be most grateful.

1 play is probably not anything remotely resembling force feeding....

It is in that spot, for a guy that doesn't produce squat.   They could run that play with Watkins or Smith.  Or preferably, stick to their strength and run it inside.

I didn't say he was great. Just that he hasn't been bad.

without Sanders. And look at this run game without him.

no need to take an OL that early.

Sure. Let's pass on top shelf OL talent for Derek Barnett or Sidney Jones.

Or we can take another JJAW, who you were so fond of back then.

I'd love to know what they are hoping to gain with this circle motion play they are running with Slay on offense.

Yup. He's not been the issue at all, but there have been some throws he'd like to get back.  This team since the bye doesn't get going quick enough - it takes a monster 2nd half to win games

I know people like to point blame to one thing but both the offense and defense weren't good

4 minutes ago, 4for4EaglesNest said:

Nope.  Not yet anyhow.  There’s time.

Not all on him. Mostly defense. but him missing smith who was wide open for a touchdown seems to be looming large. They went for it and got nothing instead.

It could be a lot worse though

Amazing to think if we lose then we have to beat Dallas to have any shot at the playoffs…. Who just destroyed this team 56-14.

Not to mention what they did to the Eagles earlier this season.

Hurts never even looked to that side of the field...

So Smith only needs 50yds to get the record?

They were hoping to slay them with that play….

It’s Reagor’s birthday. Get him a deep shot.
