I said over the course of the season not just one game.   Jalen style of play definitely  had a huge impact on the running game.  Just like Lamar's style of play affects the Ravens running game.  I also brought up the Line in my comments.

I disagree.  We run the ball well because of a dominant offensive line, does not matter who is under center.

I think we should trade up for the best WR available.  6th time is the charm.

Yep, we will trade up and draft Drake London from USC, with Olave and the others on the board.  Because Howie.

The more i watch Ojabo, the more I want to stay away.  Hutch on the opposite side of him created most of his sacks, which he seems to have accidentally ran into.  He has an easy time winning at the line but doesn't know what to do afterwards.  That said the athleticism and everything else is off the charts.  I wouldn't be mad, but i'd be apprehensive about the pick.

In the top 10, I agree.  But, at 18 or 19... yeah, if he's there, he's likely the best fit.   Gotta hope our DL coach can coach him up.   He's raw, no doubt.  But, he's an athletic guy who needs teaching about the game.   Barnett, on the other hand, came in pretty much what he was going to be, just could get stronger (and smarter).  He's gotten stronger, but I think he's gotten dumber somehow.

Ojabo is a lower floor guy, but also a high ceiling guy.  Just need a coach that can actually mold that clay.

So according to you Minshew would have Jalen's rushing stats or rushing TD's?  LOL.   I've heard it all on this board.

I don’t think that’s what he’s saying bud

Yup. It’s plain as day that Hurts has a significant effect on how teams defend us on the ground. Sanders himself said it was harder to run vs the Jets with Hurts out. The RBs had to create more yards than normal.

Not at all what I said.  I said the running game works because of our dominant offensive line.  They ran the ball for 40 more yards than the Jets allow with Minshew who is not a running threat.  The running backs had their second highest rushing total in that game.  There was no trickery, no worry about the QB, they just lined up, blocked, and ran the ball.

Yeah, it was so hard that it was the second highest rushing total by the running backs in a game this year.

He said "Anyone under center".  So the implication was Any QB we would have the exact same rushing numbers and he used one game as an example when I was talking about the entire sesaon.  I don't' agree with that.

I never said the Line didn't deserve Credit but was I was responding to someone saying "Jalen was along for the ride" like he didn't contribute heavily to the run game which he has.  And I still disagree with you about "Anyone under center".  Jalen has a different skillset that helps the running game regardless of the line's great play.

That's not what he said.

What you are saying is... he needs to do it consistently.   Agreed.   But, he needs to do it sporadically before he can do it consistently.

That's why the Denver game was so encouraging to me... and why every game since then has been rather disappointing.   In the Denver game he did do it consistently and it worked out great.  Since then it's back to sporadically.

Great play, but I hate over analyzation like that.  He sees the S drifting on the shallow cross, comes to the NB and see's he stays home not biting on either the cross or deep out.  Pulls the trigger on the safer but lower percentage play with one of his best passes of the season.  Could have saved a minute of my time by just saying that Dan!

The holes were much smaller without the threat of Hurts keeping the ball.

Ok... this didn't come out of nowhere.   What have teams/coaches/scouts done in the past that would qualify for this penalty?

You do know a good pocket passer can also open up the run game too right?

Absolutely but with solely a pocket passer, Defenses don't have worry about a QB breaking out for a 20-30 yard run like with Lamar or Jalen.   An example was like Kyler Vs Dallas.  He was getting tons of crazy first downs with his legs.   Jalen has done the same.

All sorts of examples, but a famous one was someone asking Dez if his mom was a prostitute.

Hopefully none of these GMs or scouts just assume a players gender in these interviews or that could cost them a 1st round pick.

I'd rather see a breakdown of the successful RPO's from last weekend.  That is something that Hurts was completely incapable of all season.  The fact that we saw multiple successful ones against Wash means he's getting better at recognizing (and keeping his eyes downfield) at snap movements.

Over the entire sample Sanders carried 24 times for 5.0 yards per carry, and Gainwell carried 12 times for 4.5 yards per carry.

Arguing semantics about how big the holes were doesn't change the clear evidence the running game as a whole functioned extremely well, with Hurts in street clothes.

.  What does that have to do with football?  sad

Yes and no, you can ask tough questions, but asking if their mom is a prostitute, not cool.  Do you find your mother attractive ??  Not cool.  Do you like men ?? Not cool.

If someone asked me that in a job interview, ish would get real quickly.

Not sure I see the irony.   No one has ever questioned whether or not an elite QB could win the Super Bowl.  So, that's one track to get there.  But, an elite QB alone can't win it all... see also, John Elway of the 1980s, Dan Marino, and Jim Kelly.  But, the other track is to have a stacked roster at nearly every position, especially with a stud filled defense, and a solid running game... and let them carry the QB, whose job it is not to muck it up.

The list of multiple Super Bowls, have some guys on that list that were absolutely 'average to good' QBs.
Griese, Simms, Hostetler, Williams - no better than average to good.  (Yes, I know Griese is in the HoF... but he's a guy that was carried by the running game and the No Name Defense.  His job was to not get in the way.).  Thiesmann had Riggins and a stud filled defense.  Trent freaking Dilfer won it, with the 2000 Ravens, thanks to an all-time defense and Jamal Lewis.  Brad Johnson in Tampa.

So, there's two paths...
Path 1 - Elite QB with some complementary pieces, especially a solid (not necessarily great) defense.
Path 2 - Average to above average QB (who elevates his game in crunch time, as did Foles, as did Flacco, as did Brad Johnson, even Trent Dilfer) with a great running game and dominant defense.

The Eagles of 2017 didn't have the dominant defense on display in the Super Bowl... but had the pass rush to make the play when it was needed most.  And they had the dominant running game that opened up the passing game for Foles.  And... as always in the Super Bowl... role players have to step up in huge ways, as we saw with the likes of Corey Clement, Torrey Smith and even Nelson Agholor.  That's how teams usually win that game.  Some unsung player(s) elevates their game unexpectedly.

Poor Elway...I'm shocked he lasted as long as he did in the league.  Dude is an absolute tank for what he did in the 80's with literally 0 help on either side of the ball.  That's why I've always considered him the GOAT...till Brady continued to Brady last season.
